Good morning friends. Slept well just not as long as 'normal'. That's okay as if I need a nap I shall take one. Benjamin surely has us on our toes. He loves to play 'catch' and came with several toys that we throw to him.
Sue nice that you and DH went to Costco together and then went for a Mexican lunch and got to visit with DH customer.
Need to check 'the list' to see if we need to venture out to either Walmart or Hannaford's today.

Did my daily weigh in and although I remained the same my tummy is still 'off' from yesterday. Will watch what I eat today.
Still overcast and at times drizzling. Perfect day to remain inside and take a walk weather permitting. Carl may or may not hit BJ's today. I'm not in the mood, so will stay home with Benjamin.

Hi All,
Ann, little Benjamin came from a house full of kids so he probably brought their energy with him! :-) Glad you are enjoying your new fur baby.
I dropped D&D off at the groomers this morning for their monthly baths and trims. Then I popped into S&S for a couple items I need to make a cauliflower soup in the crockpot. I was tossing a cookbook and looked through first and found several things I want to make. It's called Not our Mother's Slow Cooker...lol So that one is a keeper. I'm rediscovering what I may use.
Talked to the builder who is ordering our wood floor materials today. We chose a natural red oak with a satin finish. We are traditionalists, I think. I did not want a dark wood or grey wood floor. The outside decks are done up and down. We did not get down there this weekend. Steve was under the weather a bit. He gets tired much more easily and needed a couple days rest.
I had a fantastic brunch and visit with my 2nd daughter/hair stylist. She is beyond generous and picked up eggs benedict, french toast, pancakes and a brussel sprouts hash for our grand brunch! I brought mimosas which hit the spot. I tried so hard to pay for breakfast but she wouldn't hear of it. I will find another way to show my appreciation going forward. She also bought me a very nice bottle of Rose CHampagne from France. I'll save it for a special occasion. After our brunch, she cut and colored my locks. I feel human again! I am leaving it on the long side and finding it easier than my short hair was. I thought I was too old for longer hair, but she convinced me to try it.
After I got home at noon or so, we FT'd with both kids and all the grandkids. DD was going out for brunch with friends and her kids so that made me happy. She sent me a gorgeous bouquet of flowers from a floral designer near us who coincidentally went to college with her. She only discovered it by happenstance when other usual florist were too busy! Small world. It's so pretty...roses, peonies and many gorgeous flowers. I'm looking at it now. DH gave ma dozen red roses and DS another dozen yellow roses. Our house is very floral now. I had a wonderful Mothers Day.
I'm off to Saver's with another full car of stuff. Baby steps.
I'll check in soon.

Judy I've flipped through that cookbook before. A friend of mine had it and I borrowed it from her. They do have nice recipes in it and easy to follow also. I'm not one for a million ingredients or steps LOL...quick and easy is more my style. Happy you didn't catch the Ann bug and toss it What a wonderful floral gift and story. Happy you are enjoying it and had a great Mother's Day. Yeah to another load to Savers. They are going to LOVE you there We took a very long hood walk. Met up with a lot of people and I actually lost my voice talking LOL. Same story repeated a dozen times. Not many steps in but it was fun. Nice you got a good bottle of champagne and had your locks cut/colored. Win win situation. Carl is off to BJ's solo. I'll sit this one out with Benjamin. Time to get comfy cozy and relax. Will CBL

Ann, Benjamin must be the hit of the neighborhood! :-) Glad you like your new neighbors who bought the house after your friend passed away.
My nephew from CO and family won't be able to visit this year since the house won't be done in time and there would be nowhere for them to stay, but they understand and are excited to come later. It will be done in August, but he teaches and can't take a vacation after August 1. :-( It's okay!
I did bring my hairdresser/2nd daughter several pieces of 1910 vintage Blue Willow Ware (Buffalo) china. SHe likes antiques and old stuff. I may just give her all of it. We have a full cabinet of it that has been following us all over the United States for the last 40 years so we may as well say goodbye to it.
Ann, I really want to hang onto the "Ann" method of donating and tossing. I have to. One cookbook is okay but I have to be careful I don't get sentimental about stuff that I am not using.
DH was a little down in the dumps that our DS did not want ONE of his many tools and gadgets. He has great stuff and some things from his dad. DH's dad had a nifty ice fishing set - forget what you call it, but you set it up and go and sit by the fire and the flag pops up when you have a fish. Our DS said no thanks. That boy loves us dearly but does not have one sentimental bone in his body when it comes to things. If he can't use them in a practical way, he does not want them. DDIL is not like that as she is into decorating and artwork, etc. DS is a minimalist in nature. DH felt a bit sad about it, but it's just DS's nature and not personal.
Off to do a bit more work before the groomer calls for me to retrieve D&D.

I am lucky in that respect. Stuff is just stuff to me. I have very little of my mom and gramma's stuff that I keep out and have always kept out. The rest my sisters took and passed onto their children. Not sure if any of it has survived and that's okay. I don't need to know What a wonderful way to downsize by giving your hairdresser the vintage china. I'm sure she will love it and thing of you whenever she uses it or looks at it. I took Benjamin in the yard as the sun came out. He did his thing and quickly wanted back in the house. I guess he's tired of 'meet and greet' LOL. Tomorrow or later perhaps he'll feel differently. Still waiting for Carl to home home. He's going to pick up Subway for supper. Something quick and easy as I'm not in the mood to cook. I have a little leftover potato and macaroni salads to go on the side. Sorry your DH feels slighted by your son not wanting the fishing stuff. Even if he is not going to use it it seems like it's not big deal to store. Then again me being the 'queen of heave' who am I to judge I just don't like feelings being hurt. Benjamin just ran off into the other room. Mommy needs to go investigate. Later

I did get another hood walk in when Carl came home from shopping. He found all on the list. One thing that I forgot to add was the BJ's paper towels. Oh well...no biggie as I can get them at Hannaford or Walmart.
I am going to get jammified and read for a bit.
Sweet dreams.

Good evening, my friends!
All was well when we arrived at the camp on Thursday. They were able to put DH's cast back on at his doctor appointment, which was a relief, even though I had packed wound care stuff just in case, and there wasn't much traffic between there and the camp, so we made good time. Of course, the elevator wasn't working when we got there, so I had to run upstairs and throw the breaker for the outlet. Then it worked fine. After we got stuff unloaded and I hauled it inside, we went back down to prime the pump and get the water turned back on. This entailed hauling a ladder from the storage shed, running back upstairs for tools, a jug of water and a funnel. Of course the funnel didn't fit, so back up the stairs for a smaller one. I climbed back up the ladder and finally got some water poured in, then ran upstairs to turn on the switch for the pump. It wasn't primed enough, so back upstairs for an even smaller funnel, then back up the ladder. I lost count of how many times I was up and down the ladder and up and down the 30 steps, but I felt like I got my exercise for the day. I spent some time putting things away and then collapsed in my chair for a bit.
After I recovered somewhat, we headed to town for groceries and fresh shrimp and frozen lump crab meat. We headed the shrimp and got them in the freezer, saving some out for dinner. DH made NOLA-style bbq shrimp which were delicious. We had gotten a french bread and used it for dipping in the sauce. That and a salad made a great dinner. Friday morning I went into town and had a pedi and picked up some makeup and small things I needed from Walmart. Late in the afternoon, we drove the beach road into Bay St. Louis. It was a beautiful day and we planned to have a beer at our fav little bar/cafe which has a nice outdoor area and then have dinner at a Mexican restaurant we like, which also has outdoor seating. Unfortunately, DH started feeling bad. He asked if I had any antacid in my purse, but I didn't. He felt so awful, we headed home and he had me stop at Walgreens and get some Pepto, which he promptly took. When we got back to the camp, he sat in his chair and dozed for a while and then went to bed. It was barely dark outside when he turned in and I had a long, lonely evening. I ate the leftover shrimp for dinner and listened to my audiobook. He felt a little better Saturday morning and was able to eat toast, boiled egg and banana. I packed everything up and we headed home. Not the happy time we had planned! I always worry when he gets indigestion that he is actually having a heart attack. I woke several times during the night to make sure he was still breathing, lol. By Saturday night, he was all better.
Sunday after Mass I made rice dressing then picked up a bucket of fried chicken from our Village One-Stop. We went to DD1's and had a lovely late lunch and visit with her, Anna & Abby, DD2 and DD1's DMIL. They had made green beans, salad, cheesy potatoes and a cake, so we dined well. DSIL and Jude were off working, trying to get as much as possible accomplished before 3 days of rain. DSIL does land-leveling and drainage pipe installations and can't work in rainy weather. The DD's gave me bouquets of spring flowers and tulips and a card that was so sweet I almost wept. I had talked with DD3 & family earlier in the day.
About 6:30 pm I walked with Debbie, who was home for a break. We were talking so much trying to catch up that we didn't realize how long and far we walked. We clocked nearly 4 miles and both had sore, tired feet. We were to walk again this morning, but woke to thunder, lightning and pouring rain. She flies out tomorrow for work in TX, but will be back later in the week, so we will walk again soon. It was so good to walk with my buddy again!
DH and I spent a lazy rainy day reading and watching tv until about 1:00pm. We headed to town to pick up a prescription for him and then on to his wound care appointment. The wound looks good and is shrinking, but ever so slowly--about .4 cm per visit. He got a new cast and a return appointment for Thursday. I am trying not to get too discouraged over how long it takes for him to heal. I know he gets discouraged and at least one of us needs to be upbeat.
I am still maintaining at goal, though the scale is up a bit after some camp indulgences. I got back on track today and got in a yoga class, but not a walk. I hope to squeeze a walk in between rain showers tomorrow. I also got several loads of laundry taken care of.
I have read all your posts from the past few days. I am so excited to hear that Benjamin is making himself at home with his new family! See ya tomorrow!
