I waas going to join this but if it moves to challenges the thread won't be staring me in the face so I probably won't make it there like I should. If it's right here I can't avoid seeing it. I do like the idea of having everyone be in our age group of over 60 also. But it is your thread so whatever you do I'll try to join in. My goal for now is to get in 15 minutes of exercise each day. Whether it's walking in place for 5 minutes at a time three times a day or my stepper or health rider I want to get in the 15 minutes. It sounds like most of you already to a lot of exercise with all the yoga, zumba, etc but I've been getting zero exercise so that's why I'm starting slow. Don't want to overdo and end up quitting. I will work up to more. I think I do have a yoga and a ti chi video so may do those but I'm not going to join a gym or a formal class. it's just not me.Back when I did go to a gym I weighed 35 lbs more than I do now so just walking in my neighborhood and inside my home worked better for me.

Hi Everyone! I am in!
Karen, Thanks for starting this thread! My vote is to keep it on the Over 60s. Like Gramma13 I will be much more likely to stay engaged with it, too.
This week my goal will be to get my 10,000 steps daily. Last week was a shameful week. I did get 11,000+ steps Christmas eve day but yesterday not even 3,000...YIKES! On yoga days it is hard to get the steps in for me, too. My steps were probably higher than recorded yesterday as I did not realize my new FitBit was not recording my steps most of the day. That does not change the fact that I did not get my steps in last week, even though I participated in a FitBit Challenge.
I will start by getting a short walk in each morning (daily minimum - 1 mile). That is how I started last year and it worked. I have not been doing well with my exercise and my weight since I returned from California in Nov. and got sick.

I'm sorry but I won't be joining this thread after all. Believe me when I say it's nothing you've done Karen.. Just some other non-related things that prevent me from posting with you.

I like this thread and will probably stay with it if it stays on over 60's. I understand wanting to move it, but don't think I'll go look somewhere else. Maybe someone else could start one on Over 60's if you do move - it IS a good idea.
It hit home with me today as I was thinking about getting several aspects of my life back under control...not to mention too much eating over the holidays!
My first goal is to walk more - to make it to 3 miles at least 3-4 times a week. I'll never make 10,000 steps a day - at least not for a long time, but I plan to start walking the dog again this week, probably Thursday. Too much going on the next couple of days. By the end of Jan, I want to make that 3 mile goal.
Thanks for starting this!

Greetings everyone!
Since my arm injury which keeps me out of the pool my exercise and activity is lacking. That may change if the doctor allows me back in the pool when I see him Jan 4. In the meantime I must do 5,000 steps daily as a start.
My opinion is to stay with 'Over 60s' since it's next door to our other board but also that we have more in common staying in our age group. Whatever is decided will be fine, just my opinion. On that note. I'm going down to get the mail and also walk the corridor for a few laps.
Thanks for creating this board, Karen and good luck and motivation to all!

I agree with everyone else Karen. I never look at any other board besides Over 60s.
As I said yesterday, this is really working for me. Yesterday, despite a lot of sedentary time I got in over 6,000 steps. Only 547 so far. Long walk with my dog coming up after I get dressed. Yes, I really am still in my jammies and it is after 12!
Karen, I hope you get back here today to see everyone's posts.
Good luck to everyone with your goals.

Okay. We'll keep it on over 60's.
Friday is THE day for the week and then all posts on the same day. Haven't had any bites on the other thread and I do happen to agree, it's easier from our own little corner of the site.
As I posted earlier -- I got to 6200+ yesterday. Had to work at it. What I'm going for is to get the steps in naturally -- have them come through the day, more movement. When I don't have zumba it's work!

I posted under 'challenges' but will look for it here as well. I'd love to join this group. My 'challenge' is to go back to the GHG's. Wishing all a great evening!

Greetings all: So great to read everyone's plans and goals. We all made the decision to begin somewhere with a goal or objective that was meaningful for each of us and we're all going in the same direction ... toward success!
"The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity." Amelia Earhart
I made my 6,233 steps yesterday. So far every day I've met the objective even when it meant walking around my house. It's not a novelty to my husband anymore!

I got over 5,000 steps yesterday, despite an aching back. I got my fitbit linked to my relatively new cell phone and WW. I find myself trying to get extra steps in everywhere. This is working for me.

I forgot to put on my pedometer but I did get in a lot of exercise today just walking in my kitchen.I'll do more later by walking in place while watching tv.
Thanks again for the thread Karen. I'm get more serious about this starting this Friday and will set up specific and measurable goals.... thoughts of being back at work where we were taught to set specifics and measurables.
