This is great everyone! Today is my last day on my goal for this week. To walk 6000 steps a day. Yesterday was funny. Both zumba and Costco happened yesterday and I wound up with 13,081 steps! Amazing.
Funny how this morning when I opened my tracking book. Today is a yoga day and I have to pay for the next group of classes. And I have several errands. My first thought was to just skip it, but then I looked at my book. I've been putting in my exercise on the bottom lines and what would I put today next to my steps. So getting 6K steps influenced me.

Have a great day as you finish up this week's goal and think about next week's. Either the same one or a different one. Your choice.

Housemouse, it is about whatever goals you set! I can't do anything but low impact exercise, so I am working on getting more steps in to add to any gym classes I do.
However, I set my goal too high for this time of the year. I am looking to do more exercise in any way I can, but there is so much I have to do that I am not getting much in. I am running a New Year's Day Brunch in our condo community, and have to make a poster plus do a few other things. I also have some late holiday gifts to wrap and loads of paperwork to catch up with.
I work tonight, which is good. I will try to do more walking around there, and stand instead of sitting. I will see what transpires, and work on walking.

Housemouse,
I agree with Gail,- it is what ever we do to keep moving.
Today I did my Yoga Stretches with "Peggy Cappy" and free weights. Walking- not so much.
Again Karen, thanks for "getting my get up and go going".....;-)

Karen --This seems to be going well so glad you started this.
I am not getting in a lot of steps either because of pain in my back and down my leg so for now if I get over 3000 I consider that good. My goal for the first week was to watch and control my portions and I have done that and now for the second week I am adding to keep watching the portion size and to have an apple a day. I will keep trying to get in 3000 steps but not so easy to do that. That apple a day doesn't sound like much of a goal but for me it is because I tend to forget they are around and would reach for a cookie instead.

This is a really great thread and what I need to to is not so much get steps and exercise but concentrate on preparation.
Another WW group I am with, has decided to choose a word for the New Year. The words are great, planning, determination, choice etc.
My preparation has to do with preparing good meals for myself. I have slacked off on that. And another thing I going to do is stay away from is fad foods. Why eat something that tastes nasty just because some nutritionist guru says it's good for you?

Pat, I think that Karen would agree that this thread is not about exercise or steps but about anything you want to set as a goal to improve your life in general...to make it healthier or whatever.
one of my goals is to get more exercise because I think that exercise is essential unless a person wants to lose weight and be all flabby. But I have other goals too. I'm trying to decide on what I want to work on next week. I'll continue to work on getting in exercise ...at least 15 minutes per day on 4 days a week at least but I'm trying to decide if next weeks other goal will be drinking more water..and I'll be specific. or to eat more veggies and fruits...again with specifics. Or I'm also thinking of how experts tell us to eat a good fish to give the omegas. I don't like seafood so the only fish I have in mind is canned salmon and tuna which I would make into salmon patties and the tuna into tuna salad. I think "they" say eat fish 3 times a week. Personally when I start this I will have it twice a week. I have others in mind to add as the weeks go on and I'll be keeping track
If I had a dog I'd take it for walks. Good way to get exercise and also makes the dog happier and healthier. But I don't have a dog so will have to do something else. Maybe the video. This past week I just walked inside the house and today at two stores Just had to say that because there are so many people here in my neighborhood out walking dogs even tho the wind is blasting and it's cold. They sure are getting a lot of exercise and what dedication!
In order to reach my goals I've stocked up today on some delicious veggies. I'm really happy to have found kale because it's so healthy and can be used in so many ways from side dishes to a healthy snack to munch on while reading. It can also be put in casseroles and salads. It's a nice, delicious superfood...as they say "so good and so good for you" Organic kale was on sale today too.

Anne, I love Peggy Cappy’s DVDs!The one she does on back core basics is one of my favorites, but they are all good.
I got over 5,000 steps in today, but that is all. I worked and had a treacherous drive back. It started snowing when my session ended, and by the time I got on the parkway it was almost a whiteout with snow. I just drove at 20 mph with emergency lights on the whole way and was thrilled to get home alive. No energy to do anymore steps tonight.
This thread is making me much more aware of everything.
See you all tomorrow.
