Welcome to our 2021 Alcohol Free All The Way Board!
If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you? Or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? Did you finish the bag of chips? cookies? or just spend the evening grazing? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgment that we have been there, done that and know we need and get the support from this great group of women and men.
Whether you are choosing to be AF or find you can achieve AIM (maximum of one drink per day for women and maximum of two drinks per day for men), please join us if you feel this challenge meets your needs.
The main focus of this board is to be ALCOHOL FREE. The focus of our new challenge is to commit ourselves to success, one day at a time, one hour at a time....success breeds success! Follow a healthy food plan, exercise and stay AF.
As with all of our challenges, everyone is welcomed. For some making the commitment for the entire challenge is the way to go, but day by day is also a way to go. No one is cut from the challenge, and if you don't want to be part of the challenge, you are still welcome to post

NEW CHALLENGE
CARING April 5 - July 4
āYour body is precious. It is our vehicle for awakening. Treat it with care" - Buddha
This challenge is about caring about and for yourself. So often we get caught up in taking care of everyone else that we donāt give ourselves the care we need. Or we give up caring about ourselves. A variety of reasons and for no reason, it just happens. The hard part is to recognize it and once you do, it is hard to explain because very few want to acknowledge it. You get kudos for taking care of others, not so much for taking of yourself. Not caring about yourself can leave an emptiness that you may try to fill with food and alcohol. The emptiness remains, just stuffed down. We want and need more for ourselves. So letās begin!
Treat yourself the way youād treat someone you love.
Love yourself first and the rest will follow.
Focus on health and well being
So how do you begin to care about yourself?
Eating fruits and vegetables sounds like a plan. So does drinking water!!
Walking up a flight of stairs without gasping for breath. Your heart will thank you.
If you donāt want to be AF then restrict the amount and limit the days you will allow yourself a drink. But remember if 10 is not enough, one is too many.
Start with baby steps. Making too many changes at once can be discouraging so start small. Have you been slacking on flossing daily? Then start making it a ritual. Do you drink soda for energy? Start cutting back by one.
Treat yourself to something you enjoy. Buying the store brand face cream will sit on the counter. If you have a favorite, budget it in as a necessityā¦.better than buying alcohol! Maybe getting a manicure or pedicure is important to you yet you deny it for yourself. Ask yourself why.
Make a list of indulgences that arenāt food or alcohol and start sprinkling them into your life.
Ask for what you need. Too many times we get into a funk and we donāt ask for help. You are loved and we want to help each other.
Curb all the justification. Sometimes you just have to do something because you want to do it. You donāt have to explain yourself!
Think of your successesā¦.add three things that went well today to your daily journal. What?? you arenāt journaling? Journaling is caring!
LET THE CARING BEGIN!!

Good Morning!
I remembered after posting yesterday that I needed to have blood work done. The RA doctor's office had not sent in the lab order so once that was straightened out, let the blood letting begin. I had my usual technician and she does a good job. I just hope the results get to the doctor by Tuesday, before my appointment.
Afterwards I made a quick stop at TJMaxx...found a skirt I loved but did not buy it...I have more than enough. Then onwards to Costco. I debated the gas issue but I had more than 3/4 of a tank so skipped it. Didn't buy much but did get some produce and Skinny Pop Popcorn...it was on sale. Limes were way expensive so skipped. Some times when I want to just graze, the popcorn works. I stared at chocolate covered almonds, chocolate covered macadamia nuts but didn't give in. Once home I somewhat wish I had but glad I didn't now.
DS bought some Bobby Flay "Nacho (his cat's name) treats" for Ainsley. She was not impressed and the salmon ones are smelly.
Jan, I take meloxicam and that can be taken with Tylenol. Meloxicam should not be taken with Aleve since they are both NSAIDs but it is fine with Tylenol. My cardiologist wants me off the meloxicam totally. But with all that said, I was brought up on Tylenol as the "go to" pain reliever. I do take an Aleve with Tylenol if there is inflammation with the pain since I am stopping the Meloxicam. TMI? 85 pound tuna!! Amazing! Glad DS had so much fun! He just sounds happy! I admit I hesitated to eat the cookies until I spoke to his Grandma. My brother would never eat the stuff his students brought to him. Even if not worried about the student who brought it, who had access to it? I could not find any distressed plants today. I can't even find the plants (weeds) that I usually put in my flower boxes. Very safe travels and enjoy every minute and adventure!
Amy, glad that the washer and dryer arrived! Enjoy learning all about them! I hope you were able to find gas. I was amazed to read that Colonial Pipe line paid the ransom. Did you get a chance to work in the yard? Glad that you could take the golf cart to Publix and CVS! I'm going to use williwaw the next time we have a storm. Won't be quite accurate but no one will know!
Murphy, I hope you enjoyed your ME day! Have you scheduled your next manicure? Crazy dreams are exhausting. I have been sleeping better since using the weighted blanket...and I was a skeptic. Do you try to analyze your dreams? track them to any event?
Liz, I hope your doctor gave you some advice or meds if needed. I hope whatever is affecting you, rest, fluids and more rest, perhaps a RX will put you on the path of recovery. I now have three blooms on the orchids. Now I need to figure out how to maintain this beyond the ice cube trickā¦.thank you, it is amazing!
Carole, hope you enjoyed rollerblading! Glad Lexie got a new job and is with the good BF! I meant to mention that I understand about DH always being home. I think everyone needs their own space. I always dread when company gets up earlier than I do and I don't get some time with my coffee alone! No matter how much I might like the company. So what state will you be traveling to?
Cathy, I hope the scale stayed down today!
GG, my thought was I hope you didn't burn yourself. Glad nothing broke and you were still able to have your chicken and biscuits! Good luck at the doctor's office and continuing to get helpful answers.
I learned a new wordā¦.TEAā¦.yes we all know what tea is but it now refers to āthe best kind of gossipāā¦ā¦I actually thought I was going to get some good tea but it actually was amazingly disgusting gossip.
Off to get coffee.
Enjoy the day! Hugs, Cindy

Scale was up a bit but I was OP so not worried about it. Made Buckwheat today and find it rather blah...not sure what one is supposed to really DO with it but had some in the freezer so tried it. It is supposed to be up there with oats for similar type of fiber and higher in protein than quinoa.
CINDY: How fun to have the neighbor boy bring cookies to you! I hope his mother has found the right person this time! I love going to Costco just to look... glad you didn't need gas.
JAN: That is crazy expensive to spend on a day of fishing! I am glad your son enjoyed it and hope the fish is tasty. I wonder what is up with the car dealer...you would think they would want to sell. My son renewed his lease a bit ago because he had heard prices were going up? How exciting to be published! Who is watching your cats while you are away?
AMY: I hope you find gas! I envy you the new washer and dryer...can't complain since mine are still working but a new one someday would be nice, I think.
MURPHY: Have you changed anything with medication or eating that would be causing your dreams?
CAROL: Hooray for Lex getting a new job and being with the good boyfriend still. How is Ty feeling about baseball?
GG: What a mess and how disappointing to have made broth for gravy only to have it end up on the floor. Glad you were still able to make it a day late!

My meeting with the boss was rescheduled from 9:30 to 10:00, then never happened. I was working on preference cards, so at least I will get paid for standing by for a meeting that never happened. DH and I didn't get out to walk until noon, but it was still a little cool and beautiful. I heard from the insurance agent, they received my records on Wednesday, so I guess my nagging helped. I thought we were going to Home Depot so I didn't start any projects, but DH never got in the mood to go, so not much was accomplished yesterday other than watering the plants. He says we're going early this morning, we'll see. I did start stitching on the Santas again, not sure why I haven't been doing it.
Today is sunny and beautiful, still in the 40's, but supposed to get up to the 70's. We're in for a stretch of nice weather-yay. We still need to find gas, but it sounds like the supply is improving now that the pipeline is going again. I presume WE will be paying the ransom in higher prices.
Murphy- Hope you did not have crazy dreams last night. WTG running your errands.
Jan- WTG being all packed up and ready to go yesterday. Safe travels! Congrats on getting one of your photos published.
GG- Sorry about the chicken broth, glad you had some in the fridge. Glad you are enjoying the Nicholas Sparks book.
Cindy- Yay for getting your errands done and not buying much at Costco. Sorry Ainsley didn't care for the kitty treats. I had not heard the word TEA.
