I think this idea is very important for success. I need to tell myself that the instant gratification I get from overeating is outweighed by the long term gratification of being at goal weight. Right now I need to be thinking of this more often since I've been overeating lately.

Country of origin - it's something I notice but don't care too much about. Except for fish. I try to get wild caught American.
Delayed gratification - I think more in terms of keeping my reasons for maintaining topmost in mind. But thinking about delayed gratification - I was reminded yesterday when I got on the scale - that very often when I tighten up my food intake and stick to a plan, it can take up to 2 weeks until I see the results on the scale. I always forget this, and even after all these years, I expect that within 2-3 days of eating on plan that the scale number will reflect that and show a loss. It almost has never worked that way for me. So I have to keep reminding myself that I'm sticking to the plan because eventually I'll get the expected results, and it just takes a while. Sometimes it takes a long while.

susan092907, I think learning to understand how weight loss works for you is a big deal in being successful. On the old Weight Watchers message boards I remember members getting frustrated when their weight loss wasn't fast enough for them.
