We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend planned. Altho, waiting for that " other bomb" to drop somewhere, raises my anxious level a whole lot & kind of puts a damper on feeling hopeful about where we are headed with a Fake Prez in the Oval Office. Oh, that's right, he's not, he's in Mar a Lago lining his pockets with $$ again....
I heard on the news there were several glitches to organizing the Easter Egg Roll on the front lawn of the White House for Monday. I mean seriously, this administration can't even handle a simple Easter Egg Roll & we should trust this 4 time draft dodger to drop bombs willy nilly so he can pound his chest & brag about " my military" ....UGH!

About that Easter egg hunt. I wouldn't allow any child, especially a little girl with a pretty Easter dress on, anywhere near the WH. Besides, he doesn't give a crap about those things. The children will grab the spotlight and that will make the oaf angry. Very, very angry. Do we need that right now when this madman is itching to blow up another country or two or more?
LOCK HIM UP! It would make the world a safer place for all living things.

A good friend of ours who served with highest honors in Nam told me a true warrior never ever wants war.
He said "it is the wimps who were too scared to served that are all about saber rattling."

Going to try to make this a non-political weekend and ignore the criminal in the Southern White House.
The Trump Family, with all their money, still do not get the subtleties of true Class.

I agree! Money is never a substitute for class or natural grace.
We are just about to leave to go out of town, 2-hr drive, for a family funeral. My oldest cousin. He actually lived in CA, but has been brought back "home" for burial. Makes you think about the things that are most important in life. I don't think the oaf in the WH understands any of them.

I am sorry to hear about your cousin, when someone we love dies it is really a wake up call. Have a safe journey and try not to talk politics after the service. ;-} (I know you would give me the same advice my friend)

Patty-bird you will be glad to know that DH is off getting some Bluebird Houses. We have had them nesting here on the back deck, but not the best place for them.
Is this what older people do? Bird watch? lol
Has anyone put out their hummingbird food?

Anne, I'm so happy you have Bluebirds! Give your DH a pat on the back for me, so to speak. Hopefully they'll make their way across the Sound and maybe I'll even get to see one. I'd love that. Many of the state and county parks have set up bluebird houses but I still don't think we have any over here. Pesticides wiped them out of NY many years ago. But, if they're in Connecticut and Pennsylvania I have hope and I'm not usually a hopeful person. lol. My Hummingbird feeders have been out for about a week now. So me. lol. And yes, bird watching is what we do. It's less stressful than watching TV, right? We just got back from a Trump tax protest! We had a good turnout. I wasn't the only one with a cane either. lol. Many people were in wheel chairs but we were there! We saw some wonderful signs. We chatted with wonderful people and many had their wonderful dogs with them. Oh, it was so nice to hang out with sane, reasonable, aware, and fun people! Our friend, Linda, took some pictures and when she sends them to us, I'll share them. Linda has an SLR digital camera. We have cell phone camera's so I'll wait until the good pictures get here. lol. Joyce, I'm so sorry to hear about your cousin.

Pat so very very you with the hummer feeders. Good on you getting out there and protesting. We should be going out for Earth Day to protest. Still calling our boys in D.C. to show our support against the FOOLS ON THE HILL. Do you ever wonder if the sweet people who still support Trump after he has shown WHAT he is, have the teeniest clue as to where the money he is lavishly spending for his family comes from? They are not going to be happy when he starts to cut into their SS and Medicare and then sends their beloved grandsons and daughters off to war.......or maybe it will be OK with them. Anything for the Holy Cause of Trump. It must be the right thing, Faux News would never lie. (or would they?)

Huff Post... President Donald Trump is reportedly demanding that a trip in a royal carriage be a part of his itinerary during a state visit to Britain later this year, according to U.K.âs The Times. A carriage procession from Londonâs Horse Guards Parade to Buckingham Palace is a normal part of the protocol for a state visit. But The Times noted President Barack Obama chose not to travel in the carriage during a 2011 visit, opting to make the trip in his armored limousine. The White House did not return a request for comment. If Trump does travel by carriage, he could likely use the lavish gold-plated Diamond Jubilee State coach, which other foreign dignitaries, including Chinese President Xi Jinping and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, have used during past state visits. Sources told The Times that the carriage was not as secure as the presidentâs traditional armored vehicle that is bulletproof, protects against a chemical attack, and can withstand a small bomb. Security officials are preparing for massive protests during Trumpâs visit, which The Times reported will require unprecedented security. The Evening Standard reported in February that policing costs for the visit could be up to 7 million pounds. âThe vehicle which carries the president of the United States is a spectacular vehicle. It is designed to withstand a massive attack like a low-level rocket grenade,â a source told The Times. âIf heâs in that vehicle he is incredibly well protected and on top of that it can travel at enormous speed. If he is in a golden coach being dragged up the Mall by a couple of horses, the risk factor is dramatically increased.â The drain on resources for a carriage trip may be of little significance to Trump. He has stretched the Secret Service thin and spent millions in American taxpayer funds to protect his family and to take frequent weekend trips to his estate in Florida. Trump, known to obsess over imagery and the way he appears on television, toyed with the idea of having military equipment in his inaugural parade. Over 1.8 million people signed an online petition earlier this year arguing that Queen Elizabeth II shouldnât extend a formal invitation for a state visit to Trump because âit would cause embarrassment to Her Majesty the Queen.â In January, British Prime Minister Theresa May extended an invitation for a state visit to Trump on behalf of the queen and he accepted. âThis invitation reflects the importance of the relationship between the United States of America and the United Kingdom. At this stage, final dates have not yet been agreed for the State Visit,â the Foreign and Commonwealth Office wrote in response to the petition.
