I ran across info that WW is offering a one-year membership deal with an Apple Watch 2. $99 up front and $34.95 a month for 12 months.
I tracked down this subscription link from the WW news release:

Oh brother; well, maybe the app works better on the second series...9/10 I get a notification telling me I need to sign in on the phone.
After the most recent update, it is at least taking my step data correctly. WW's needs to be careful how deeply they dip into the pool unless they're tech gets stronger. I never think to look at the app anymore after it performed so poorly for so long.

This part had me rolling "Effortlessly sync your steps and fitness to your plan." !
But seriously I must have an under-caffeinated brain, doesn't online plus include meetings and isn't that usually around $52 a month now?
So even with the $99 fee this would actually save you money in the long run just on the meetings plus you get an Apple Watch out of the deal. Or is online plus something else?

But too often I have to launch the app on the iPhone in order for the watch to update. I cannot see actually trying to use the watch app to track; it is difficult enough with the iPhone app which they keep redesigning and making more difficult to use IMHO.
lmenglish, I don’t think it is a matter of WW loving Apple but of the population in general loving the Apple products. WW is always going to go where they perceive the money is. It has to be the reason they hooked up with FitBit and not Nike or any of the other activity-tracking devices.

Deb, it seems like they’ve quietly redefined what they’re calling the various program offerings. OnlinePlus seems to be online PLUS Connect. Meetings seem to be meetings PLUS eTools PLUS Connect. And Coaching now appears to be a standalone program that includes online but does NOT include meetings. Apparently there is no longer a meetings plus coaching option.
If I didn’t already have an Apple watch and a discounted monthly pass through my health insurer, I’d be a candidate for jumping on this deal. Even though the app on the watch doesn’t work well.
Oh—of course, this deal is very probably restricted to NEW members and therein lies one missed opportunity for WW: they always restrict their “deals” to NEW members instead of allowing existing, paying members to garner the benefit. I could understand that if their deals were “subsidizing” members, but I’m sure that’s never the case.

Okay DebDoesWW That was way to much thinking for me, LOL! I'm still waiting for any tech implementation with WW's to be effortless! It's a mixed blessing that after this past year, I honestly don't care much anymore, the program is a *carrier* for me to figure out my food and maintenance, but my devotion to WW's has withered away. zazzles Agree on all counts, I have always preferred the web tracking and on a small screen with SO much info, I feel that way even more...I do hear that the series 2 is a nice upgrade, but I am happy with my watch and will hang on at least one more (hoping it gets slimmer...)

Wait wait wait so online plus is actually just online then? (don't make me give the gratuitous eyeroll at the mention of Connect)
Wasn't online like $18.95?! And if the extra is for the watch, I get it, but after the 13 month commitment is fulfilled your account will still be charged at $34.95. Help me out please I am obviously missing something here. Has online gone up to $34.95 a month?!?

My friend always sets up a new account when she wants a deal. I still cannot get the WW app on the kindle, have to use the web site. I just remember when they started using any technology it was geared to Apple first. My DH dislikes any thing Apple which is why we have androids.

lmenglish I have to disagree; when I was working for WW's, 2009-2012 I couldn't even take my training on my Mac browser, everything was Microsoft. I think the switch began with the ongoing popularity of the iPhone. I have an old friend who has a husband like your DH, but he had to live through all his kids wanting Macs, LOL.

I went and looked at this and found it interesting. You can buy meetings plus online or you can buy coaching plus online or you can buy online by itself (well, it has connect but they all have that). There is no option to buy meetings plus coaching. I don't even see a way to buy both of them and have them on one account. Maybe there is some option if you go through the sign up process to add on coaching to meetings or vice versa but I don't see a way to do it. If you could buy both options meetings (plus online) and coaching (plus online) you would, in effect, be paying for online twice. But, even so, it doesn't look like you can even do that. Are meeting members just literally unable to buy coaching? Or is it something you can call and ask for but they don't tell you that you can do it on the website? I'm a currently at lifetime person so don't pay at all. But, if I was still paying for meetings I think I would have opted to do coaching as well. There were times that would have been really helpful. But, they seem to making coaching as essentially a paid for substitute for meetings and not something additional. I wonder if this is just a way to deemphasize coaching. Maybe they don't really want people signing up for it.

When they first introduced coaching, it was NOT available as a standalone option. You could get Monthly Pass with eTools or Online, and coaching was an optional extra for either of those. They seem to have decided quietly somewhere throughout the year to realign things and make coaching a substitute for meetings.
In a world without meetings—if things come to that—coaching plus online would make complete sense for people who needed personal support from WW.

Has online gone up to $34.95 a month?!? So Online PLUS (connect) is $19.95 a month and I believe it has been for quite a while.
A new online member would pay $20 registration plus $19.95 for 12 months for a total of $259.40 for the year without the watch.
A new member taking advantage of the watch deal would pay $99 plus $34.95 for 12 months for a total of $518.40 for the year with the watch. That’s $259 more than the plain membership. However, the watch being included in the package retails for $369. So WW is subsidizing members for $110 when they take this deal.
I can’t ever recall WW having any kind of deal involving a non-WW product (shuddering thinking of Glo Kits here) where WW actually subsidized the members—or, if not subsidized, gave members a deal where the 3rd party product was actually discounted. I remember when they started selling the Fitbit; it was full price when nice discounts were available on Amazon.
Aside: I presume that either the monthly fee drops to the regular monthly rate at the fulfillment of the contract or, if not, everybody will cancel and go away or re-subscribe at the lower rate.
So this is an interesting marketing tactic to me, and I’m just kind of shocked that they haven’t offered it across the board for those preferring meetings or coaching. The new members truly get a value, on something they may actually want, and WW gets them locked into a contract for 12 months.
Perhaps if this promotion succeeds they will decide to roll out promotions for meetings and coaching. Time will tell.
But it is the first sign of innovative thinking I’ve seen from WW in longer than I can remember!

Got it Mike thanks, just the same three things (with different names) they have had for awhile with a tweak on coaching maybe, I could have sworn we used to get that question on the old WWMB about how to get coaching with meetings though... I read the fine print, it does convert back to the standard monthly fee once the 13 month commitment is fulfilled so if anyone is in the market and is already doing monthly online it works out nicely I agree. Sorry you did all that math, I just had thought the (online) monthly rate had increased that's what I get for doing five things at once. Didn't they have a promo for a free Fitbit too at one point with joining, maybe last New Year? I know they did with the activelink. I agree, no clue why they haven't done it across the board but definitely not a shocker with their marketing team.

I tracked down this subscription link from the WW news release:
WW Online Plus and Apple Watch 2 I almost fell out of my chair laughing when I read this. Perhaps if my Apple Watch and WW app ever worked together I wouldn't find this so amusing. I've had the watch over a year and the various WW apps for three years. I keep everything updated and still each morning I have to re log back in and disconnect/reconnect the activity tracker in the settings to get it to see my steps. Tracking on the watch is hopeless. Once in awhile it shows the correct points but I can never trust it. Additionally, it is slow as molasses. Anyone who reads the ad will have expectations of technology that works. I am willing to overlook the shortcomings and frustrations because the program has worked for me. A newcomer will not have that position. I see a lawsuit in my crystal ball. Perhaps this will force them to fix their technology. Ha,ha ha ok now I did fall out of my chair.
