WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.
Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going.

C117D8, 21 purple points, 1398 calories, 109 grams protein, 35 grams fiber, nice long walk this morning, caught up with two friends on the way, then a quicky 20 minute walk after dinner 10,749 steps.
I'm the aide tomorrow. I think I'll turn lemons to lemonade by treating myself to a PJ day. It's time.

I thought I might have an untracked day yesterday, but ended up behaving myself. I was surprised how low my calories stayed. I found the yummiest ice cream cookie sandwiches at Aldi and worked one into my budget. So, so good, and I might have one tonight too. Shortbread cookies, cashew pieces, gooey caramel. Half would easily be enough and only be 125 calories.
((Kathy)) I think I would have done the same thing. I learned a valuable lesson about marriage yesterday. For at least 2 years I’ve been stewing about my husband’s messiness, and lately just thinking about it has nearly set me off into a panic attack a couple of times. He was at the neighbor’s, where he’d been most of the day, so I sent him a text asking him nicely to please clean some things up, I didn’t know how much more I could take. He came home and started cleaning. Marriage is hard.
Nancy, 10K+ steps yesterday, good for you! I wondered the same thing on our honeymoon. We were leaving for the airport the day after our wedding, and DH leaned a wheeled suitcase against my car and scratched it all the way down to the bottom, then hit a pothole and damaged a rim and caused a flat tire. Funny now, not funny 27 years ago.
Cindy, I’m so over carpet. Within the next year we’re replacing carpet that we installed in 1996 with some sort of flooring. A few years ago we replaced our carpet upstairs (we have a raised ranch). I chose a high end carpet from Lowe’s and about a month later when I compared the sample to what they put in, I realized they put the wrong stuff in. It was a much cheaper carpet. After a year of arguing with them and finally hiring an attorney, they refunded us the entire cost the day before we were to go to court. What a hassle.
Lori, I love Outback but haven’t been for years.

Day 118. Lunch with my young friend and her 2-year-old was great. We ate at an outdoor cafe right on the lake and it was a gorgeous day. Eating the rest of the day was not good, but it's all tracked and today is mostly planned. Did the rower earlier this morning. So I'm grateful that there ARE some constants, even when I waver.
Kathy: Re. your post yesterday, yes - sounds like a perfect storm of emotion and stress. But your comment that "I wish I drank" got a guffaw from me. Take care.
Peace to all. Gotta start work.

Checking in....all going well. This week I’m meeting DSILs for dinner Wednesday night. Thursday(taking the day off) DH and I will drop the dog off at daycare, then go for a hike and lunch. Saturday, I leave for LBI. DH will stay home with dog (turns out you have to plan well in advance for dog boarding, Kasey was number 25 on the waiting list). DH is more than happy to stay home....dealing with shore traffic and crowded restaurants are not his thing. I’ll have a Great time with my side of the family - looking forward to it!! Eating will be challenging....
Love ready all the post!!

This morning I weighed 138 on home scale. I've been going back and forth between 138 and 138.5 for a while now. My clothes fit perfectly and to be honest I look as thin as I need to in the mirror. My WW goal is 145. My personal goal has been 140. I add 1-1/2 lbs from home WI to WW WI to account for clothing. So at 138 or even 138.5 I am at my personal goal. There needs to be a time when we are satisfied, right? What I'm getting at is that I'm going to consider myself finally on maintenance. 1350 calories seems to keep me there. Makes sense?
Jan - The ice cream sandwiches sound good. I'll be right near Aldi's tomorrow. May check them out.
Meg - "I'm grateful there are some constants even when I waver" Exactly!!!! Progress not perfection.
Lori - I'm surprised you didn't take the dog on your hike, but doggie daycare sounds cute and a nice way to relax without having to rush home. Does he like to go there? Enjoy LBI with family. Don't forget to wave <g>.
