Every day is filled with wonders!
Ways to break the pandemic habits! 1. Pouring more? These days heavy drinking is up over 40%! When we are exhausted & fed up with something, we are likely to reach for that extra glass of wine. thinking "I deserve this". What we really crave & deserve is serenity. Take time for yourself every day & you will soon discover what it is that you really need.
2. Eating more? Ditch the guilt, during stressful times, our brain is searching for any way to bring us a bit of joy. To get back on track after a binge, reach for a "safe food". Try foods that aren't packaged. You can even make your own french fries in an air fryer, or bake them. Lots of people who changed routines during the pandemic "grazing" became common. Instead, use a timer & only allow yourself to eat every 3 or 4 hours. If you really want a treat, go ahead & have a small serving of it. We don't have to upend our habits completely, just make a few healthy tweaks.
3. Shopping more? We have all felt a sense of deprivation during this last year. Simply put a bit of time between the emotion driving you to shop & the action itself. When you put unnecessary items in your shopping cart, wait 5 minutes, or even 5 days before completing the transaction.
Have any of you changed your habits during the pandemic? Thoughts?

1. I'm not drinking more than pre-pandemic.
2. I'll address eating more another time.
3. For last December's holiday shopping, I did all of it online. It was more out of necessity than choice. I had built up some credit with Amazon gift cards, so that's where I went. I did zero driving to stores, zero standing in line for a cashier, zero gift-wrapping, zero boxing, zero taking to the Post Office... However, I freely admit that I absolutely positively prefer going shopping in person. (Also during the pandemic I ordered underwear online for myself instead of going to the store.)
Previous to the pandemic, I very rarely shopped online. Often I'd check online for whatever it was I was looking for, but then went to stores to find the items themselves. I guess it's fairly easy to say that in general I prefer shopping in person to online.

My life didn't change much during the pandemic. I have always been a stay-at-home person. There were only a couple of things that I went to monthly that I didn't attend during the pandemic. I did order more supply type things on line, but I did my own grocery shopping. No delivery where I live. I also didn't get haircuts as often. I didn't eat out much anyway, only lunch sometimes when I was in town, and I haven't started doing that yet. It doesn't matter to me either way.
I don't really have any favorite things to shop for on line. I shop for lots of different things. It's often easier to shop on line rather than trying to hunt something down in the stores.

I am not much of a drinker, though I did have a couple of glasses of wine this past weekend. I never drink unless I am with friends or celebrating something.
My eating habits haven't changed all that much, the only difference has been, eating at home almost all the time.
I am a shop-a-holic. I used to get weak in the knees everytime I saw a clearance rack. During the pandemic, I have done a large amount of my shopping on line. I haven't really needed any new clothes, since I haven't been going anywhere. I have ordered from Amazon & Sam's club. I got my groceries from ordering on line & then picking the order up at the local supermarket. You just pull into the designated spot & pop the trunk, they come out & put the groceries in the trunk for you. I think I actually spent less, because I wasn't wandering through the store picking up whatever looked good. It has been so long since I toured a clearance rack, that I guess, I am almost cured.

No changes to drinking - did not drink pre-pandemic.
Eating - actually better, because I had more time to cook & take time to eat. (this is actually started when I retired and continued to get a bit better)
Shopping - On-line shopping declined or stayed the same. I'd purchased craft supplies and books on-line pre-pandemic, but when I looked around after I retired, I'd already realized I could use the craft supplies I had & read the books I had and cut back. We continued to purchase some dog supplies on-line, same as pre-pandemic
I continued to go out to stores to get what we needed - grocery, other household needs (repair type items, for example) & the dog supplies we'd always purchased locally.
Related to that topic - I do like it when I can check store inventory (it isn't always right, but...I know it's a good possibility) then buy items in store. Especially like it when the site gives the aisle and location of items in the store. I do enjoy browsing in a book store and craft/art stores and as time goes on as it keeps feeling safer, I'll do that again.

I used to go into Michael's (I don't know if it's country-wide; it's a fairly large crafts store) sometimes and walk up and down the aisles, browsing like crazy. I loved it! And got in more steps those days than at other times...

Holly Gail, There is a Michael's somewhat near - it's a little bit out of the way for me (but it's next door to PetCo, so when the dogs need some supplies that the locally owned store doesn't carry, I will also go to Michaels). I'm still in the habit from the previous year and a half of just getting what I have on my list in stores, but used to walk up and down extra aisles in stores when shopping pre-pandemic.

used to walk up and down extra aisles in stores when shopping pre-pandemic Me too! As often as I could. (I didn't do a lot of the grocery shopping; DH really likes to and I don't care much one way or the other who does it, so he wound up doing it a lot of the time. Since pandemic, he does it pretty much all the time. It keeps him busy; otherwise, he gets cabin fever easily.)
