GOOD MORNING!! love, light, blessings, and good health.
Just a quick check in, the universe let me sleep late! What a gift. Yes I did: shortened version of long Sunday walk to recharge my spirit and soul, home abs, quick weight workout at gym, Lots of Law!, and healthy shopping. Do not ever hit the supermarket during summer fruit season when hungry. I was just going to pick up a couple quick things and spent a hundred bucks. Oh well, I needed everything and it was either low or zero points.
Now must wake up and get to work. Hard deadline Wednesday at midnight but chugging along. Our pool is supposed to reopen today. (I am putting a suit/towel in car but trying not to get my hopes up). Also, home abs, walking breaks, weight training class. Be a grown up and finally check the mail.
love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Happy Monday!
Janet: I know the feeling of the pull of summer fruit. And it all seems to ripen at once! So glad your pool is opening soon. You have done so well staying OP and are a great inspiration to me.
Yes, I Can... --maintain my weight. I am not pushing until after I get a clean diagnosis. Need to de-stress. --park my mind in a peaceful space. --continue to eat light. I think this is easier to do in the summer when it's warm. --plan something fun to do this week.
Anyone have fun plans for things to do this week?

Good Morning!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Jan hooray for maintenance. I am concentrating on that myself. I hope this weekend to get in the long version of my walk. I have been cutting corners on my workouts due to this brief I am working on.
Yes I did: move from research to writing last thing yesterday. My toughest class with weights yesterday and then hooray - pool open - and a 20 minute swim. I will work up from there. Slept like the dead afterwards. I found a book in the library to address my issues with my parents getting older and it is helping me with that. MY NSV: I fit in shortened versions of home abs and walking breaks instead of just blowing those things off because of deadline. Yes I can: online ordering, home abs. Law, law, law. Make time for walking breaks. Tonight: weight class and yard gym. love light blessings and good health, janet

Good Tuesday Afternoon, positive peeps 🐥🐥!
Just a quick checkin...I hear thunder and may have to shut down at any time if it gets closer.
Jan - yay for maintaining, for "parking mind in a peaceful space"...I love that!
Janet - yay for pool opening! Yay for good sleep! I was doing well with sleep, but yesterday "forgot" that I can't drink any coffee, not even a weak decaf iced coffee, after 2 pm. But it was so refreshing at the time....
Yes I DID: --enjoy the air show on Sunday, despite drizzle during much of it. The Viper crew and some dedicated pilots of the older, smaller vintage planes flew anyway and we all had a good time. One event they had to cancel was paratroopers, they decided not to risk it in the rain and such. Wise. --get back to doing some of my zoom exercise classes yesterday: taichi felt fine (we do modifications anyway, for us older folks) and circuit (using light weights and stepping very carefully!) was ok too. The only thing I'm holding off on is ballroom, because of the lunges and fast steps. I'll be back eventually! --get out on some neighborhood walks despite iffy weather, staying close to home and actually enjoying the journey. --today, we dropped off two boxes of books for donation at our local library. Yay! This is the first of many installments. I haven't even gone through all the books at Old House yet!
Yes I CAN: --stay focused and positive!
Hi to Sally & Nat, both busy working. Sending good thoughts to y'all!
Be well! Carol

Happy Tuesday Evening. Yes, I did... --get up early and pushed through the malaise that plagued me yesterday. --water the entire yard and feed the critters. The wild rabbit "Ginger" is spending lots of time in my yard. Or maybe they all look like Ginger??? I always have loved bunnies and had many for pets growing up. Sweet gentle creatures...unless you get them riled up. Kind of like me! LOL. --shop and Trader Joe's and they had that delicious Spicy Argentinian Red Shrimp I like. Yay. --two loads of laundry, clean sheets, and washed a pair of dirty tennis shoes. Came out good. Reading a new book Janet...The Sweetness of Water by Nathan Harris. About post Civil War after the slaves were freed. Good so far, heartbreaking too. Carol: How do you sleep when there is thunder at night? I often wondered. We get hardly any thunder, lightning, or rain. Sally: Thanks for the message. You made my day happier. Just sharing helps. Nat: Hang in there! We miss you but we also understand. Sweet Dreams to All, Jan

Good Morning!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Carol iced coffee is refreshing and I agree about even decaf. I remember drinking full caffeine coffee in afternoon coffee breaks - but I also remember that was decades ago. That is so neat that you are feeling well enough to ease back into activities that you enjoy.
Jan I noted the book. Right now I am reading a nonfiction book about dealing with issues that arise when parents get older. It is helping me immensely. I love bunnies - when I was a little girl and people used to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up my answer was always a bunny. The way I eat -- I am guessing I achieved my goal but real bunnies spend much less time on the 'puter.
Yes I did: get 90% through draft one of brief that is due at midnight today. Circuit class, home abs, walking breaks, and yard gym. I did get most the weed-eating done. Still raining off and on here. Really weird weather for July in Central Texas.
Yes I can: finish this brief. Walking breaks, home abs, double header tonight (if brief emailed off). Chores this morning while I am waking up.
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Hellooo Canners!
Janet:Is Texas not as steamy as normal? How is it being in the office? Do you interact with clients in your office or use it for workspace? Carol: Glad the knee is better- take tender care! Jan: I'm glad you are finding some ways to distract and calm. Rinse and repeat! Hi Nat!
I am maybe caught up in the doldrums of summer. I need to find some energizing activities. A bit too stuck on DH worries... YES I CAN: add on steps read a good book watch a good series check in with pals remember that food is fuel- not comfort. Sending healthy wishes especially to Jan.

Happy Wednesday.
Just returned from Costco. I consider the walk and lifting involved as exercise. LOL. Got busy early this morning, like yesterday, and that is so much better for me. Inertia keeps me rolling. My artist buddy and her husband are in Cape Cod for the week and she is sending me photos which I am really enjoying. It's like going with them! It's been a long time since I was on that coast. Tomorrow my 2 FFF buddies are going with me to a Mission in Oceanside, about an hour drive up the coast. It will be nice getting out of the house. Prepping meals, so I can stay on track.
Sally: Yes. Distraction is the name of the game. I bought a book at Costco that is pure escapism, nothing too heavy like my current book. Have you read Kristen Hannah's new book "The Four Winds"? I really loved it. I am looking at the Author's Note and this is an excerpt from that... It made me cry and realize what we have all gone through with this pandemic. The story is about The Dust Bowl and The Depression, something I really never knew much about. This is a story that mirrors one of my friend's Mom, who was born and raised in Nebraska in this same time period.
Kristin Hannah-- "We've gone through bad times before and survived, even thrived. History has shown us the strength and durability of the human spirit. In the end, it is our idealism and our courage and our commitment to one another--what we have in common--that will save us. Now, in these dark days, we can look to history, to the legacy of the Greatest Generation and the story of our own past, and take strength from it."
Janet: I am so happy you have your pool back. And your brief almost done. I thought of you today at Costco when buying a huge watermelon, 8 peaches, and a giant clamshell of black grapes. Will have to share some of this bounty. Wish you lived nearby! Enjoy and appreciate the rain, even when it makes your walks challenging. Green is so much prettier than brown.
Nat and Carol: Waving and wishing you a happy day.
Hang in there Everyone.

Good Morning!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health!!
Sally those sound like great activities! The office was just a temporary measure after I was vaccinated and before the library reopened. I have been back in the library since early June and I love it much. My clients are other lawyers that I deal with remotely and have never actually met in person or incarcerated inmates that I have to go to if I want to visit with them. Sometimes I do meet with my incarcerated inmate's family members at the library but we usually just talk on the phone. I am a book lawyer and do research and writing that entails little human contact which is why working from home was so hard on me. I am also a "people person" and love being around others at the library. There is a great sculpture exhibit there right now. It is more humid than normal in Texas but about 10-20 degrees cooler. It is both unseasonably wet and unseasonably cool.
Jan hooray for the Costco workout and all that fruit. Fruit never goes bad around me! I have heard them asking about the Four Winds at the library and there is quite a waiting list. I will read it next year. No rush.
Yes I did: get a big project off electronically to Dallas, get my newsletter done, and start on the next project. Walking breaks, home abs, and double header (yoga/barre class). The book I am reading about navigating the journey with aging parents is stirring up a bunch of stuff so am not sleeping all that well. But I think it is important. I am taking a day off from Law to do chores. Honestly, I would rather do law than chores but everything needs doing and I am at a stopping point before I get too plugged into my next project. So: home abs, mow/weed eat/etc, research on home improvement projects, and much stuff like that. Reward myself with my weight class and maybe a bit of a swim after . . . I have started a load of wash which might get rained on. Last week I mowed in the rain. Oh well.
I guess step one is to get dressed! Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Morning!!!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Jan, I hope everything is okay.
I hope to see Nat with calmer work, Sally with energizing activities, and Carol will be zooming all sorts of things.
Yes I did: basically spend all day in intense activity - hanging out wash, hours in yard (it is like emptying an ocean with a teaspoon I barely made a dent in what needs doing), weight class, home abs, a couple of walks, and a nice swim. I got in my swim before they had to clear the pool due to someone having an "accident". It might not be available today due to the addition of much chlorine. God is good and I managed a phone call to Mom. It took us seven tries to line up the blue tooth on her hearing aid but it was well worth it. I also got a bunch of cooking/food prep done. Yes I can: finish Amazon order. Work some in yard, spinning class. Law. Healthy shopping. I did make some bread yesterday for a friend. I had just a bite, I will have some for breakfast, and then freeze the rest. I am getting through all the flour and will not replenish my supplies. I need to find a hobby other than baking! I might do a bake-a-thon at some point and deliver to the huge homeless camp in Austin or to the little one here in Georgetown. I did not even make time to check the mail yesterday -- you think I would have gotten further in the yard! I did manage to put the bird bath back together. I think the squirrels take it apart while I am sleeping. Okay, step one is to get dressed I guess!
Love, light, blessings, and good health, janet

Good Friday morning canners Steamy midatlantic but 45 min walk complete and may try some pickle ball in my community this am, may also try a movie in a theater later this afternoon.
I have been a bit blah since trip return and not been acting as if healthy food decisions are important to me, too much emotion based eating. I need to take action around topics of high emotion when I can which will likely calm my impulsive numb eating. I am hoping to reboot today, my cabinets are cleared of challenging options.
Big deep breath...

Happy Friday. Hi Sally. Something that is helping me get through the stress this past month is just focusing on maintaining weight. Sometimes I actually lose weight during these times of maintaining, maybe just easing back on the pressure to lose. Hang in there! Glad a movie and activity is part of your day. Good for you. Moderation, not perfection, is my mantra for awhile. Sending a hug. I had a fun time yesterday with 2 old friends. We drove up to the Mission San Luis Rey. Such a peaceful place. My friends know all about it's history as their Grandfather was Head Groundskeeper for many years. There is a Pepper tree on the property that dates to 1860. We visited the church, which was a beautiful little gem. Long car rides also equal heartfelt conversation. Janet: I get how you feel about overwhelming yard work. It's something that never gets "done". Love your idea for the Bake-a-thon for the homeless. I like to bake too. Today I am walking my friend through baking an Angel Food Cake from scratch for her daughter's b-day. So my biopsy is Monday morning, then waiting for results. Waiting is the hardest part I think. Thank you for the prayers my friend. Glad you could talk to your Mom. My poor Grande Dames in the neighborhood are left to their own errant children these days. Just can't add anything else to my plate right now. May be back later...errands and duty calls, Jan

Good Morning!! Love, light, blessings, and good health.
Sally safe cabinets is such a HUGE start! I do understand about steamy although this has been a much milder summer than usual. For me, not having dangerous stuff in the house is a big help.
Jan moderation is a fabulous concept and I am working toward there myself. The mission sounds lovely. Yes, waiting is the hardest part.
Hi Carol I do hope you got some sleep.
Yes I did: Finish mowing. Spinning class. July project fell through so am now unemployed. I am using this down time to get through a bunch of other things -- I will play catch up in the yard, go back to Frugal Fat Farm, continue research on home repairs and other such things. I did get some watches repaired. Yes I can: remember how to play today after working the last several weekends. Also, chores starting with wash. Walk, Farmer's Market, swim (thank goodness for rec pool), Mass . . . Okay getting dressed would be a good starting point! love, light, blessings, and good health, janet
