Karen, thanks for the start. How did the MG meetings go?
Linda, my dad was on the launch team for one of the previous Apollo missions, so we watched the launch across from the Space Center and then went on vacation. We went to Tarpon Springs and Sanibel Island on that trip and got home in time to see the landing on July 20. We all sat in our family room watching our one TV. When I had my dad's slides printed, there were some pictures of the TV with Nixon talking to the astronauts! No DVRs or even VCRs back then.
The 82 year old woman that went on the flight with Bezos today just became the oldest person ever to go into space. She was in a group of women NASA was recruiting to be astronauts during the Mercury program, but then they cancelled the program. Kind of nice that she finally got to go up.
Waving to everyone.

Karen Thanks for the start.
Kathy That 82 year old woman is a card. I really like her. That is so cool your dad was on the launch team. It is a shame they had to cancel the astronaut training for women.
We took Scooter to the vet for her annual exam this morning. She is a pill on the way and she wanted everyone to play with her in the waiting room. She was heartworm negative again so that's good. We got her shots and she had a good time. On the way home she got tired and put her chin on my leg. She has been tired all day. She will be fine tomorrow I'm sure.
Waves to all.

Becky, I like her too. They were saying she beat all the other women in the physical fitness tests and she chimed in with "I beat the men too!". It is a shame none of the women got to go up back then. It was an exciting time to grow up on the Space Coast. They used to take us outside to watch the launches when I was in school. Sounds like Scooter had enough excitement for one day. Glad her test was negative.

Kathy, I heard this morning that 1 in 5 covid cases in the US are in FL. WOW! I don't blame you for laying low. You have to wonder how many of the people who are vacationing there aren't vaccinated. Are they postulating any potential causes for the high case numbers on your local news, short of people not being vaccinated? Your DS could be one of those people who would benefit from the proposal to lower the Medicare age to 62. $1400 a month is a significant reason for her not to retire at present. The meetings and presentations went well. I had a couple of members who were founding MGs come up to me after the presentation and tell me I need to present more often. Cool that you got to be so close to the action for the space launch. I wondered who that woman was on the Bezos crew. It was on Fox News at the gym, so I actually watched it willingly today, which is a first. There was no sound, so I didn't know about the woman until you mentioned her.
I saw that most of the Fox News prevaricators were talking up the vaccine, Linda. Unfortunately, Tucker Carlson apparently did not and Fox won't say if he's vaccinated or not. I totally agree on doing what we are supposed to be doing and being at the mercy of others who are not. I saw that Boris Johnson was in quarantine. He's already had the virus and been vaccinate, so I have to wonder what's going on. Is your "beaded neck thing" attached to your mask something that was intended to be used on a mask? I have something that I found in my sewing supplies that I have no idea what it was supposed to be used for, but it works well to allow me to clip my mask to my shirt collar. Our cases, hospitalizations, deaths, and positivity rate are all going up. We are back to near 1000 new cases a day and your county population is about 2/3 of our whole state. I've been really tired today like you were yesterday and I can't blame it on the heat here because we are in the 80s (but it's humid and air quality is bad). I was a rising HS senior when Armstrong walked on the moon. I have a good friend whose birthday is today and at 9 years old, she thought they did that walk in her honor.
Becky, congrats on your rain yesterday. The CDC has been telling us if we are vaccinated, we don't need to wear masks. So your legislators were just following CDC guidelines that apparently need to be updated. Yesterday was a pretty good IBS day but I took it real easy since I was presenting and had the meetings last night. Today has been a bit rocky for some reason. Not sure what's going on. Good news on Scooter. Phoebe never minded going to the vet because she loved being the center of attention. Arya is the opposite. I'm sure the shots are affecting your poor girl. Hope she will feel better tomorrow.
What's up, Chele? Was today your YS orchard trip?
I went to the gym a little earlier than usual and it was more crowded than I expected. I've been tired today, I guess from having to drive, present, and run two meetings last night. I got everything done, but it took a little longer than normal. When I came home, I had to start working on my to-do list from last night. I think we have a venue for our ice cream social next month and reached out to several potential sites for our annual Christmas party and awards dinner. We have money in the budget, but didn't make as much on our plant sale, so things could be a little tight if we go with a place that charges us for meals plus room rental for 50 people. This is seen as a perk for all the volunteer hours we put in, so we want to keep the costs as low as possible. We have lots of restaurants, but not many that can accommodate 50 people in a private room. Event planning isn't something I love to do, so I just want to find a place and get it locked in. The good thing is that, with planning an end of the year event, that means my 2nd year as president is coming to an end. Yay!
Waving to Liz and Denise!
