Welcome to the Clutter Patrol, formerly CLUTTERBUSTERS thread. We are a daily thread, Monday thru Friday, and we have a combined weekend edition Saturday and Sunday. We welcome new members and are a friendly, helpful and supportive group.
Our purpose is for support and sharing of tips and strategies in dealing with weight and clutter issues in our lives. Many feel that the two are often tied together. So, we will lend a caring ear, and hopefully give and learn tips to help all of us.
We want to remove at least 5 items or spend at least 15 minutes clutter busting today!
Remember, it didn't pile up in one day so it isn't going away in a day either. One organizer says: you don't have to stop everything to get organized, you just have to start somewhere.

Good morning,
Weather turned out beautiful yesterday. Started off so overcast, but the sun came out late Miranda with the cool temps it was very nice.
Took my tote to the curb for trash pickup this morning. Nothing extra this week. It’s been cool enough to stay upstairs as I go through the boxes. Yep, Amvets with get a nice haul.
Yes, I’m very excited about the wedding tomorrow. Weather is supposed to be sunny and cool. It’s only a 15 minute drive to the venue, that makes it nice and convenient. After buying and trying so many shades of lipstick, I finally found one that will look nice tomorrow, and a few other I can wear for every day. I’ve been wearing foundation, blush and lipstick to work every day. When I got my haircut I decided to work on looking better, I had really let myself go.
Ruth - hope you can find a few exercises that will help with your back pain. I recommend knee to chest, knees side to side, pelvic tilt, maybe dead bug too. Those really helped me this last time. I do a quick set every morning now to get the nighttime kinks out.
Dottie - hope Bill is feeling better. Scary when temps start climbing.
Martha - that banana chocolate chip bread sounds delicious.
Enjoy your day everyone.

Joyce, sounds like you will be ready for the wedding tomorrow night. I know all the exercises you mentioned except for dead bug. I will try to look that one up but I find the basic exercises are really helpful for me. Martha, that is great that the doctor had a cancellation and you were able to fit it into your schedule. Did you make it on time for the appointment?
Ruth, that is a shame about the appointment mix up. Hopefully it is all straightened out now. When I went thru my pictures I made piles and pitched all the duplicates and ones that were just scenery. The piles consisted of family, one for each boy and one for relatives. I put the pictures of the boys in their box, I have a box for each boy with things that are theirs. I haven’t gone thru any of my albums yet – but at least those pictures are all marked and dated.
Bill is feeling better and no temp. We are beginning to think that these episodes he gets are always during the summer and could be a reaction to a bug/mosquito bite. When we sit at the fire at the lake while the grands are roasting marshmallows Bill is always bothered by mosquitos but usually I don’t get a bite. He is at PT now and will be tired once he gets home but is feeling much better. Tonight is trash night and we have some extra stuff from the basement to get out, every little bit helps.

Bill's great aunt visited us for the first time when she was 80, she then came for 2 additional visits. She flew up, which was quite an experience since she had never flown before the first visit. On one of her visits she brought us a big envelope of old pictures. She didn't know anyone in the pictures but thought Bill might recognize the people. These were all pictures from before Bill was born. Since she didn't recognize anyone but didn't want to throw the pictures away she wanted us to keep them. I did keep them for several years but one year when cleaning out the drawer that they were stored in I just pitched them. I didn't feel we needed to keep them since no one knew who these people were. Bill and his great aunt did know that they weren't any close relatives. I think that is how my kids will feel about some of the things that we have so we are trying to not accumulate much more and even get rid of a more things.

Good Morning HUGS I was to have been at bus stop to head to dr. appt buuuut dr. office called & she is out of the office all day. My appt for next week had already been rescheduled for someone else. Soonest in-person appt is 8/26th. Sounds about the same for phone appts. Guess that means no excuses for not de-cluttering. :/
Joy - Sounds like you are already to go to the wedding. Since I'm in job search mode, guess I should also think about looking better. I haven't worn make-up in years, not even the bare basics. Dottie - Glad Bill is feeling better. I had to laugh about the pictures from Great-Aunt. I have a very strong feeling that we will be saying the same thing. However, I still have older relatives alive that may be able to assist. Ruth - I have still been wearing masks when out in public. When with people I know have been vaccinated, no masks. We are heading into flu/cold season & think should be prepared for an increase in Covid-19. Glad Stan has helped you with pictures. Unfortunately, the pictures in question, are from my family & older. When I get to 'our' pictures, he will be helping.
DH doesn't like curry too much so changed last night dinner to chicken ala king. His was over bread & mine over rice.
I'll come back & post Banana Bread recipe.
Hugs~ m

Good afternoon ladies. Joy, have a great time at the wedding! Re makeup: I wear eyeliner every single day! Have forever since I was in high school. I need to find some good eyebrow makeup because mine are getting so light (grey). Dottie, I think you’ve mentioned something about that and I need to write it down and find it. I only occasionally wear lipstick and I hate foundation because my skin is so dry and the foundation makes my face feel like it’s going to crack! I’m old!!! I’m going to start those exercises you mentioned Joy. I’m not familiar with the dead bug one either. Will be fun getting down on the floor to do them and then back up. May do some of them on my bed in the morning to get out the kinks.
Dottie, glad to hear Bill is feeling better. Scary when they are ill. Stan has stopped wearing the “shoe” for his broken toe. Says it’s doing much better and he’s wearing his regular shoes. Not sure if he’s still taping the toes or not.
Old pictures are interesting. My mom went thru so many from my father’s family and she sent a few to one relative, decided the postage was too expensive and just burned the rest of the pictures she didn’t want, didn’t know who were, etc. She divided up the family ones she knew between the 3 of us sisters. And there were others left there when we cleaned out her house, and DS Carol ended up with a big bin of those. I think they are now in her attic and her DH is slowly going thru them. He’s putting them on a thumb drive for me I think. I hope he is anyway. Need to talk to him about them. I don’t want the actual pictures. I need to find a program for scanning pictures. Going to ask DBIL what he’s using to scan them. I have some from Stan’s family that more than one person would like so I need to be able to do that. We will continue to go thru pictures as I find them. Like Dottie, I haven’t pulled out albums. I have one or two for each of the kids and a lot of the pictures I’m finding of each of them can go in there. More work!!!
We are picking up Mara in an hour or so. She is still congested some but doing better. DS said she’s a little crabby so I think a change of scenery for her will do them all some good! We can spoil her and keep her occupied for a couple days.
Martha, so sorry your dr appt got messed up too. Seems like there’s a lot of that going on. I’m not sure why but it seems to be happening more and more. I must have missed it. Are you entirely done with the job you were doing the last 6 mo or so? You are now job searching?
Not much else going on here. Got a few things picked up this morning so Mara won’t get into them. Still need to run in and do some picking up in the dining room because that’s where all the pictures are spread out. Stopped at a garage sale and got Mara some summer pj’s for her house and a few things for Sawyer. Nice clothes for cheap.
Will check in later tonight. Have a great day all.

Slow Cooker Chocolate Swirl Banana Bread from Skinnytaste Cookbook Makes 1 loaf (8x4 inch loaf pan) Baking Spray 1 c. all purpose flour 3/4 t. baking soda 1/4 t. kosher salt 2 T. unsalted butter, at room temperature 1/2 c. brown sugar, packed 3 overripe medium bananas, mashed 2 T. unsweetened applesauce 2 large egg whites 1 t. vanilla extract 1/4 c. semisweet chocolate chips * Lightly coat an 8x4 inch loaf pan with baking spray. Place a small rack or 3-4 foil balls* into slow cooker. * In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda and salt. * In a large bowl, with an electric mixer, beat the butter and brown sugar. Add the bananas, applesauce, egg whites and vanilla. Beat on Medium speed until combined. Scrape down the sides of the bowl with a rubber spatula. Add the flour mixture and mix on low speed until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. * Place the chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl and microwave in 15 second increments, stirring after each, until the chips are melted. Add dollops of the melted chocolate to the top of the batter. Using a butter knife, swirl chocolate into the batter. Place the pan in the slow cooker on the rack and cover. * Cover and cook on High for 2.5-3 hours, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove the pan from the slow cooker and let cool at least 20 minutes in the pan before turning the bread out of the pan. Cut into 12 slices to serve. * * * * * This recipe works best in a 6 qt. oval or rectangular slow cooker that can hold a loaf pan and a small rack. If you don't have a rack that will fit into your slow cooker, cut 3-4 sheets of foil about 12 inches long and roll them into individual balls, flattening the top of each ball slightly so that the loaf pan can sit on top of the foil balls. * If you want to bake this in the oven instead, bake in a 350* oven for about 50 minutes. Martha's changes (: I don't pack the brown sugar. I use one whole egg instead of egg whites. I don't melt the chocolate and swirl it into batter. I just drop in the chocolate chips, sometimes I do use mini chocolate chips. And of course, add more than it calls for. Nutrition Information: Per serving: 1 slice Calories: 134 Fat: 3.5g Sat.
