WELCOME TO REGULAR & NEW POSTERS! This thread is full of encouragement & suggestions. New people, welcome! We encourage you to jump in. One day, one hour, one minute at a time is easier to handle than a week, etc. Lurkers, join in
Our goal is 21 days Binge Free (studies show 21 days to break old habits & start new ones!). Whether we make 21 or one, the point is to learn as we go, replace binges with other things to help us through stressful times. Some days are harder than others & we may slip; that's OK. The Binge Monster is in the shadows waiting to pounce. Hopefully this thread provides inspiration, courage, & support to become a Binge Survivor!
You may see different folks on different "Cycles." A Cycle is a 21 day block of consecutive binge-free days. Stay with us for as many cycles as you'd like.Everyone's definition of a BINGE is different. The Oxford Dictionary defines a binge as a spree of eating and drinking. To many of us, BINGE is defined as "eating without dignity." The dictionary defines "dignity" as a calm and serious manner or style, showing suitable formality or indicating that one deserves respect. Only you can define what a binge is for you. Going over points, as long as it was done with dignity and journaled (thereforeacknowledged and "owned") isn't binging--it is up to you to decide.
SPECIAL THANKS TO LESLIE5609 for starting this challenge on the Out of Control Board, in August '02, and thanks to all who keep it going

Lori, how far are the Catskills from your home? Sounds like a nice overnight trip.
Meg, the cake came from our friend/training client with the great granddaughter. He’s quite the practical joker and I knew there was more than met the eye when the cake showed up. Sure enough, there was a can of beer in the center when DH cut into it. I asked where the cake came from and who the heck delivers cakes. It’s a small bakery that was recently taken over by an Asian (Japanese?) mother and her adult son. I have a small birthday gathering to attend tomorrow so I’m stopping after work today for cupcakes. My friend says they’re enormous. I’m always thrilled to support small businesses.
Nancy, while you were over your calorie budget those 2 days, it could have been so much worse. Re: the stretching, your doctor wants you to stretch your Achilles so you’re doing it right. I want to go higher up into my leg into the calf muscles.

Jan - Lori would cut the enormous cupcake into quarters (or even more) and have one piece each night. I'm not sure I could do that but was wondering if you'd consider trying.
Lori - Thanks but don't worry about the skinny syrup. We have a Marshall's and a Home Goods down here. I finished the cookie dough but still have half a bottle of the caramel. So looking forward to our get together. So glad you're having a great time.

Late greetings on day 157. Doing well - the calorie-tracking may not continue, but for now, it's just what I needed to get me back on track. Reading The Diet Fix is encouraging, too.
Jan: Ha on the beer in the cake! What a hoot.
Nancy: Who can explain why we do what we do? Try doing something a little different this evening - work in a different room? Floss your teeth early? Put a piece of masking tape across the door to the kitchen? Maybe a chuckle will remind you what you REALLY want to do (i.e. make a healthy choice).
Lori: Your trip sounds lovely!
I'm going to a brunch in the morning, but I'm bringing some of the food, so it will be easy to plan. I will allow myself 1/2 serving of whatever carbs-stuff looks the most delicious. I also need to plan food for a picnic after church Sunday. Picnics always make me want chips, but I dare not buy a bag. Still pondering what to bring. Low carb suggestions? Something fun to satisfy my picnic-salty-food desire?
Peace.

Meg - Do you have a WW nearby? I like their nacho tortilla chips, their mac n cheese potato sticks, their sea salt tortilla chips and their sea salt veggie snaps.
