Ginny - Congratulations on the new family addition I hope he settles in well. What are you going to name him? Or are you using the name he had? I used the pool noodles to pin the quilts. This was the first time for that and it worked pretty well and was a bit easier than trying to pin another way. It does take a bit of wrangling to get the backing and batting rolled on separate pool noodles. Then I found I could just lay the quilt top on them as I rolled them back. I've saved the larger tops till now to machine quilt, so it is a job getting them pinned. The reason I thread basted that old quilt was that I thought I would hand quilt it since I didn't know how to machine quilt back then

hi crafters, Ruth no it dose not have those letters at the end whatever they mean. Believe me if he thought I had to be in to see him right away or in the hospital he would have called.
when I asked him about what did high platelets mean and showed him the numbers 800.000 (thought I was going to have hip surgery,)he started writing out lab orders and told me after my mamo go straight to the lab, do not leave the building till lab is done.( this was on a Friday)
ever try getting a hold of a doctor or the surgery schulder after 4 pm in another town?they told me the hemotologist from there would call me over the weekend ,never happened.
am that Monday ,connie who schuldes surgery called and said my surgery was cancaled, my doctor got a hold of the assiant doctor.
I did not have the phone in the cradle and my clinic was calling to tell me I HAD AN APPOINTMENT IN ONOCOLOGY WENDESDAY WITH DR. POLOSKI AT 9.30.
COME TO FIND OUT MY DOCTOR TRACKED HIM DOWN ALL WEEKEND AND SAID GET THIS WOMAN IN THERE.YES I DO TRUST HIM.
WHO know there may have been more serious case then me he had to attend to.with this virus and the kooks out there who knows what doctors have to deal with now days.

Phyl, those letters stand for "within normal limits" and actually I don't think it would be used on any of our tests because at our age there's always some little thing that doesn't mean anything that keeps them from using it. It sounds like you have an amazing doctor and, as you said, if there was something that needed immediate attention he would have taken care of it. And don't worry about typos or caps. We all make typos and sometimes I'm just too lazy to hit the shift key to make a capital letter. You are a treasured friend even if you do make typos Ginny, how great that you were able to find a kitty that you felt would fit into your household and be able to bring him home right away. Yes we all want to know his name.

Hello Everyone - It must be a busy Saturday for you all Hope the day has been good. We had some cooler weather here today, but it still seemed humid to me. I did finish quilting the last 4 quilt I had ready this morning. Last night I thought I would finish pinning one of them and when I got near the end of quilt I saw that my batting was too short I figured out that I had used the wrong piece of batting in this sandwich and had used the correct one in another quilt I had already pinned. I was so sad! There was really no way to fix it without unpinning the wrong quilt and the one I working on, so I did all that last night and then repinned them this morning. Taught me a good lesson to keep my batting and backing with the quilt top. I liked using the pool noodles, I think it helped with the pinning. My backs are never totally smooth, but I'm alright with them as long as I don't have places where I sewed folded fabric. Hopefully this coming week I can get all my quilted pieces trimmed and picking binding material and get the binding made and attached. After I finish that I still have 7 more quilts that I thought I would machine quilt myself. I'm not a bit iffy on 2 of them and think they might look better if they were done on a longarm. I'll have to think about it. I put my heavy duty machine away, so maybe I'll pull it out later in August and try to get some of those quilt tops quilted. I need to work on some other things over the next few weeks. Take care everyone!

Well, I went to a picnic today (Dh’s cousins) and DD #2 came over today. So I just got back rom the picnic….and am here late. I did stop at Hobby lobby to get fabric for the starlite quilt, which they ordered for me, so I get the sale price. I do love HL. That is my crafting for the day.
Ruth, where would be be without your medical knowledge to figure out our test results? Did you finish the list of projects to work on.?
CJ- Ds likes his shelter name. - Yoda- so he will keep that name. Its probably from his first owner who could no longer care for him. Glad you mastered the pool noodle technique!!! Think its a great idea to hand baste the quilt top that you are planning on hand quilting…that will surely be a labor of love.
Phyl, you are indeed blessed to have such a kind and caring doctor who goes out of his way to make sure you get the care you need. Don’t worry about misspelled words….I sure type my share of mistakes too.
Sue - would love to hear from you.
Sleep well all Ginny

CJ looks like we were posting at the same time. You got a lot accomplished today. Do you know that you can piece pieces of batting together? Its adhesive tape withan iron on adhesive that you can use to patch pieces of batting together to extend a small piece. I’ve used it before and it works great And my backs are never totally flat either, and like you as long as it doesn’t have tucks or folds I let it go.. hope you had a great day

Hello ladies. I stopped in a couple times but no one had come in yet and since I was the last to post I didn't want to talk about myself more so I waited.
CJ, yes, as usual you accomplished a lot. Do you know the total number of quilts and quilt tops (potential quilts) that you have? And pool noodles are so handy for so many things. I'm going to use some pieces of them to make the necks of stuffed things sturdier.
Ginny, you do have an interesting and eventful life. Picnics, baseball games...just all kinds of interesting activities. And I'm glad you're getting the fabric at the sale price. I wish they had a Hobby Lobby closer to me. The one that is here is not all that far...maybe 10-12 miles but I'd love if there was one about 3 miles away.
I took out what I had done on the cable cowl and started it over. I didn't like the way the person had her pattern and video and other people mentioned they didn't either. Now I'm doing it my way, having adapted it from her instructions. I'm using Mandala yarn and I know you both know it's a self striping cake so very little of any of the other colors are going to show up on this cowl but what is showing is really pretty.
Ginny, I did get the list written but now I need to make a couple adjustments and make it clearer as to which things I'll make first.

Good afternoon, Ruth, I too wish that HL was closer!!! Its about a 15 mile drive to get there for me, and I was actually going to order the fabric online, but then would have to pay shipping. The picnic (which was a last minute addition to my life, as i only got the call from Dh’s cousin last weekend about it) and the roads I would travel to get to it got me within 2 miles of HL. So it made sense to stop in. I felt blessed that the timing worked out and I was able to get to HL before they closed at 8. The store was out of stock (I need 7 yards and they only had 5), so its been ordered. HL has some fabric that is pretty good quality- sort of a hybrid between quilt shop quality ($12 a yard) and Joanns quality…..so to get the fabric $7 a yard, and then 30% off is a nice deal. Happy for you that you were able to get the list put together. Its now easier to adjust that list and prioritize as you go. At least all your projects are all together now and you know where you stand. I am glad that the mandala yarn is working out well for you. Striped and variegated yarns can work up so very pretty!!!! Its a shame that the cowl had to be restarted, but by now you could write your own pattern and you absolutely have the talent to modify someone else's pattern!! Let us know how it all turns out.
So it seems I am busy….honestly between the baseball game and the picnic, well if Dh were still here I would be attending both. He liked to be out and about and doing stuff….I am going to enjoy a nice afternoon at home.
See ya later. Ginny

So I got some housework done and a bit of straightening up as i was out an awful lot yesterday. Hoping that I can crochet a bit after dinner. Is anyone watching the Olympics? I admits to being more a Winter Olympics person, as I love to see skiing and ice skating, toboggan etc…..all those sports which look so cool but I would break my neck if I ever attempted (even as a young woman). But its better than the news….and is different.

I like the gymnastics but I haven't watched any of the Olympics this year. I turned to the channel it was on the other day and there was only women's basketball which I'm not at all interested in. I don't care for any of those track activities, running, etc. Swimming is good too but I forgot about that.
Congratulations on getting some housework done. I did some too this morning but very little. Ginny, what colors are you using in your afgan?
I did maybe five stitches on my crochet cowl so far today. Dh wanted me to look up some things online. Now I'm going back to crocheting. This week may be a little cooler so I'm going to try to get in some much needed housework and then there's always the yard work and painting. We need to get a new lawnmower. We have really bad luck with mowers.

Hello Ruth - I really like those self striping/variegated yarns, they are so pretty when they are used. Ginny - How is the new cat settling in to your home? Hope it's going well. I know that I could have tried to add an extra piece to that binding, but it would have been awkward without taking the whole sandwich apart - so I just did that instead. I'd really like to get some batting on a bolt like you bought recently. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. It's cooler here today and we had some rain, it's sunny now. I finished trimming a few more of the quilts that are quilted. I found it interesting that one of the hand quilted pieces was a sampler I did from the first hand quilting class I ever too, over 20 years. And another piece was from the most recent hand quilting class I took in 2019 I'm struggling a bit with fabric selection for the blocks I'm making for Pat Sloan's quilt along. I did decide on fabric for the sashings and borders so I'm going to go ahead and get those fabrics ready and hopefully that will help me decide on fabrics in the quilt blocks. I also hope I can get the rest of the quilts trimmed this week. Take care everyone!
