luanne, I guess the answer is the getting the actual flu would be so much worse? I am lucky that I've only had the sore arm. I'm getting my flu shot late October. The pharmacy offered to give the Covid vax and flu shot at the same time. It did not sound like a good idea to deal with double side effects.

luanne, I got my flu shot at CVS. In the directions they emailed out they mentioned drinking 16 oz. of water one hour before your shot to lower the chance of side effects.

I got the same advice for the Covid vax. I didn't drink that amount, I would not have made it to the pharmacy with that much water on board. But I did drink a lot more water than my norm when I got home and I think it did help, didn't seem to get quite as tired as the previous dose. So, it is the way to go for any vaccine, I guess. I could have used that information when I got the Shingrix.

lani, Thanks for the idea of drinking the water after the shot. I forgot to drink the water but then again it might not have worked for me because of having to go to the bathroom. I had an ultrasound once and I had to drink a large amount of water ahead of time. I really worried about holding it for very long. I practiced at home and found out I did better in the morning which was when I had the appointment. They took me in on time and as soon as the tech was done she directed me to the bathroom.

bbbearsmom, hah, one time I had video urodynamic testing where they fill your bladder with water and take an ultrasound. That was fun. I felt like I was in "Sybil". The description online tries to make it sound so benign: "The bladder is filled with warm water and harmless sound waves are used to view the bladder. Anesthesia is not needed." Well, I could have used some. This was when I was not yet diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and they were throwing every test in the book at me.

That doesn't sound pleasant at all. I had to pee as soon as I finished reading it!
I hope you are feeling good these days.

birdgal, I am feeling fine. All that testing was back in the mid-90s. I'm currently managing without medication - do not want to be taking steroids if it can be avoided.

BTW, I wouldn't say "everybody" says it's wrong about the Hitler comparison. I don't think it's wrong at all!
A man who isn't that bright, is way out of his league, is drunk with power, is focused on dividing people instead of uniting them because by doing that he creates "those people" who now can be blamed for everything that's wrong. A man who believes lying and pointing to others for all those wrongs. A man who believes he, and only he, has the answer to solving the world's problems no matter how cruel, crazy, and insane that idea might be.
That man deserves to be compared to the other maniac. I've been told trump said Hitler did a few good things. I'm not sure where or when or if it's true. But, I can see him saying that. I can also see and hear his worshippers, those fearful and angry all the time beings, cheering him on...until he turns on them.

BTW, I wouldn't say "everybody" says it's wrong about the Hitler comparison. I don't think it's wrong at all! You are right. I should have said "many". I think it's a thing in the mainstream media to decry such comparisons, trying not get called out by the right wing-nuts. I just noticed your signature line.

Getting called out for speaking the truth. I'm okay with that. It's easy for me to say because I'm only a woman posting in a chat room. If my job was on the line, or my future in danger, I'd hold back too. Self preservation would mean more to me than my feelings and opinions. At this moment.
Lani, thank you! I'm glad you like it. Lol.

I can't forget, Biden really didn't want to run, he only stepped up when he realized he was the only candidate who had a chance to defeat Voldemort. And then it was nip and tuck until Clyburn endorsed him.
Dude a lot on his plate, to say the least. The State Department was decimated by DT and it really is showing.
But Biden is the Pres and in the hot seat. Nothing he can do except the best he can.
