This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year Olds board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

Good Morning Booklovers. I know many of you won't check the thread over the weekend, but if you do, Merry Christmas to you, enjoy your holiday, family and friends.
Marsha, enjoy your time in AZ if you check this before you leave. Happy Chanukah to you.
It's a rainy day here today, so hope my driving won't be too bad. Have to go help out with the holiday meals, and it's about a half hour drive from my house, hope it won't be any worse than that.

Good morning and Merry Christmas Eve! Happy Chanukah too!
I am still reading Pharaoh by Wilbur Smith. His earlier books in this series were better, IMHO. Also began my Free Friday selection for this week, Beautiful Storm by Barb Freethy. Both are good reads, but I have had troubles with the process of setting up my surgery so haven't read much.
Will try to catch up and read some past posts the next few days...
just wanted to wish you all a safe and happy holiday...

Hi Robin and Carol. Merry Chritmas and Happy Chanukah. I am at work but wanted to stop by and say hello. I have been so busy with work and my Dad being in the hospital. Have a great weekend if I don't make it back. Take care.

Jill, I didn't realize your dad was in the hospital, sorry to hear that. I know it puts an added burden on you just the idea that he is there. Hope you get a chance to enjoy some of your Christmas.
Carol, I like Barbara Freethy, and enjoyed Beautiful Storm, but only get half way through the next book in that series. Not as good as some of her others I have read.
I am getting towards the end of Broken, which is the 4th in the Will Trent series. I also came up for Plot Against America so got that started today too. It's interesting. There was no problem getting back and forth to help out with the Christmas meals. They collected both the food and toys/clothes for the children of the families. I was only there about an hour and a half, and we got everything packed and sorted, and people came by to pick them up from the 2 organizations. Because of privacy issues we couldn't meet the families directly. We had more than we needed, so gave extra food to the larger families, especially the one with 2 teenage boys. Lots of toys for them too. Everyone was very generous.
