Welcome to Alcohol Free Is What We Want To Be! .. We are glad you are here with us! If you have been struggling with your weight and have found this board, you undoubtedly have your own unique, complicated relationship with alcohol and food. Laying out the problem honestly can give you the extra push you need to succeed in getting it under control. A few questions for you to think about...do you wake up at 3 AM wondering what did you do? Do you sometimes have no recall of the evening before or do you try to recover your memory of the evening before you even get out of bed? Is your spouse angry with you...or do you simply think that A is taking over too much of your life, affecting your weight loss? These are hard questions but know that you will find understanding, love, encouragement and support on this thread. We are each in a different stage of this journey but you will find others have shared your experiences. There is no judgment, just an acknowledgement that we have been there, done that. This board of great people will support you in your journey.
Some of us have been here for several years, others are new, but all are welcome and if you have visited before but didn't stay, there is still and always a place for you. Don't get overwhelmed, take your time, if something strikes you, respond. We are great at giving advice, whether you want it or not....you will get tough love, if necessary, but you will also find help. We practice positive self-talk and support, we encourage and gently hold each other accountable. We each have stories to tell, share and suggestions to help. We post different challenges during the year. Please join us if you think this is the group for you. You will be glad you did.

NEW CHALLENGE!
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BE FOR HALLOWEEN? September 5 - October 31
CIRCLE September 5 on the calendar. Now CIRCLE October 31 on the calendar. This is your 8 week AF Halloween challenge. For this challenge to work you have to commit and take it seriously. Respect the importance of the challenge. RESPECT YOURSELF by focusing on your health and taking care of yourself. Organize yourself healthy, organize your grocery shopping, ORGANIZE!
Do you fancy yourself a witch? a ghoul? a ?? How about visualizing yourself as a happier, healthier person? Envision your costume…except it won’t be a costume, it will be you!
Being AF isn't easy, no one said it would be. Are you in an emotional war when it comes to alcohol? Declare a truce and determine that it isn't helping you, in fact it may be causing you problems. Can you decide to be alcohol free for the challenge? Can you determine your detours, not necessarily to take them but to plan so it isn't a free fall into AIE? Don't give yourself an excuse that oh my day has been lousy so I will have a drink or I'm bored so I will drink to get through the evening. During the challenge the primary goal is to abstain from alcohol. If you decide to have a drink, don’t beat yourself up….this is a hard journey! Keep in mind you don’t have to finish the bottle, you don’t have to finish a bag of cookies…you have control…now you have to believe it!
Some of us can’t have “spirits” in the house…that can take a whole lot of self control. There are lots of tricks and ways to avoid A but essentially many of us bring an OCD attitude…..usually defined as obsessive compulsive disorder... to stay AF but for this challenge OCD means….Ongoing Celebration of Discovery! We can discover and celebrate ourselves!! And we don't need alcohol or excessive food to do it!
So what are you going to be for Halloween? A much healthier, happier person sounds like a great plan and it won't be a costume! Great success!

Yesterday was fun! DH & I walked at the park/ farmer's market. We found a wallet, were pleased that the community center would take it, we were afraid we would have to take it to the police station. I picked up a calendar of events at the community center, may look into a yoga class. When we got back, we headed out to the garage sales, got some good stuff, including 2.5 bags of polyfil for $1.00, a blowup kayak, and other odds and ends. I don't think I spent over $60. Our next door neighbors have a sale going, will have to check it out. Usually there are more sales on Saturday than Friday, I hope to get out again, but we've also got to mow the yard today as it's supposed to rain the next several days.
Murphy- Yay for feeling rested, getting your nails done & other errands accomplished. I don't remember the last time I rode a bike.
Jan- WTG getting your steps 10/11, tracking on Green, blue dot. Sorry DS's job situation isn't settled & the drama about Finn.
GG- Sounds like a very busy day! Enjoy your funeral potates. We've noticed we have more songbirds at the feeders lately.
Cindy- Hugs!
Cathy- WTG for tracking, healthy OP eating.

A lighter version of myself and maybe someone's fairy godmother September 5: 198.8 September 12: 199 September 19: 199 at least holding steady! September 26: 199.4 October 3: 199 October 10: October 17: October 24: October 31/Final weigh in: Happy Halloween! and congrats to your new self! Good morning. SInce we were getting a late start I decided to go walk the market first, get some steps, and buy my produce for soup and dinner. Of course a few cinnamon rolls jumped in my bag. Wanted to compare the one from the bakery to the amish bakery one. The bakery one definitely is better, had a few bites when I got home and that was enough. I'm calling it "research" Found some delicata squash, which they never have at the stores and just enjoyed the walk. It had rained a little this morning and I was glad it seemed to scare off some of the crowds. Now the sun is coming out so will probably get busier. DH is going to finish planting in the front and we may start on the bulbs before the rain returns this afternoon, or the Ducks football gets started and then he's done for the day. No other big plans for the day, will start something new on my knitting list, also have some socks started. My laptop is on the fritz, I had to do an upgrade on Mac last night and once it was all done it won't let me on any internet server. I have an appointment at best buy tomorrow to have it fixed. Just frustrating, working fine, they write the update, and then messes up your stuff. Glad we have the old desk top still running upstairs. Guess I should be grateful that it will force me to stay busy doing other things and not get sucked into the web today!! Have a happy Saturday all. I saw I was currently winning the Weekend Warrior, I'd like to pull a Trump and say, All's good, stop the counting, that's enough steps everyone ha ha Jan Amy You sound happy. Are you having to do less work these days? Sounds like great finds at the sales. What kind of cookies did you make? Hope the lawn gets done before the rain comes back. Murphy SOunds like you had a good day. I love the darker colors in the fall for nails. Hope they can get a 3 wheel bike for you if that would make you feel more comfortable. I haven't been on my bike since we moved here either, not sure why, it's certainly flat enough to ride!! GG Someone will eat those yummy potatoes I'm sure. How is DSIL coming along, feeling better? Sorry to hear about the funeral. Everyday we are grateful for pretty good health. How many days do you go to the Y? Have fun with the girls!! Cathy Yay for getting back to the exercise. I'm really trying to get my 10,000 steps at least 3 days a week and more if I can. Is DH garden pretty done? CIndy Has the rain continued or finished for the weekend? Does DS have a day he will start at the new job? Hi to all. Just saw that Amy has of course passed me in steps already!! Rats. Better get moving!!

Hi friends! I picked Tyler up last night, so nice to have him home. I would’ve gone to see him, even to take him to McDonald’s—I needed to see him. Lex, her friend and myself are on our way to see Blake Shelton. He’s in Milwaukee. I’ll try for personals tomorrow. Have a great night!
