Good morning and Happy Columbus Day. Today I shall more than likely have to hit 'reset button' after our wonderful pasta fest yesterday
I am going to shop today. Have a few things that we need at Hannaford's and if Walmart isn't crowded will hit there as well as Tractor Supply for Benjamin's food.
Sue my lips are also very chapped. I order my lip balm from a company called Yves Rocher along with my facial cream. I have one in the bathroom one in the draw beside the sectional where I sit and one in my handbag. Glad you found the one that you like and also had a nice meal out.
Waving and wishing all a wonderful peaceful and OP day.

My plans have changed. I was scratching my arm and Carl looked at it. Come to find out it was a tick. He removed some but not all....so a trip to Urgent Care is in order.
Reset doesn't need to be pushed. For some reason I am down .6 this morning. Maybe it'll catch up with me.........
Will keep ya posted!

Hi friends,
Yikes on the tick bite, Ann. I hope it all goes okay. Please keep us posted. I just read that now and am adding onto my post that I finished.
Happy Monday. I am back at work today and good to be in a familiar spot. It is very quiet with the holiday - the students are off but we are not. However, my boss is WFH so it's quiet for me. I can get a lot done and not feel stressed. Tonight I am going for a color at my hairdressers. I went to a different cutter last time and don't need another cut anytime soon. I am back to short hair which I love a lot more. My hairdresser and I share birthdays near one another so tonight we may go out after my color somewhere nearby or else pick something up to have in the salon for a treat. Every meal lately has been eating out which is getting old. Never thought I'd feel that way, but I'm anxious to start cooking! We have been having salads a night with a protein so not bad.
Pam, thanks for the shoe suggestion. I'll check them out! Also, on the topic of lip balms, I like the Burt's Bees products, too. I also found a lip balm on Amazon called Lypsyl - a Swedish lip balm. It is amazing stuff and not expensive at all. DH and I both love it and I bought about 10 of them one time so we both had them everywhere - lol - car, desk, home, purse, etc. It works so well. It is my favorite so far and I have tried many products with these chapped lips. I also like Aquaphor lip products when I need to. Lately, I'm also loving the Gold Bond hand creams and body creams. They really work and I have such dry skin.
Sue, I love the Coming to America movie, too. Funny one! We haven't been watching much TV in the hotel, but I have been catching up on my Amazon Prime shows on Acorn and Britbox since I can watch them on my tablet. I love a show called McDonald and Dobbs. Good mysteries but not gory.
Pam, I started reading The Nickel Boys. I'll keep you posted - well written but depressing as you said.
We went to the house on Saturday and it was filled with craftspeople - painters, tilers, finish carpenters doing the fireplace, etc. We are getting there and it can't be soon enough.
DH and I went furniture shopping for a new sectional. We both want comfort above all and durability. We went to the LaZboy store in Natick and put a deposit down on a very nice sectional with the high performance fabrics. They said it will be in next March! That's how it goes and we are fine waiting. They are sending out a designer the make sure it's the right fit for the room, etc. Originally, we were going to go to a place called Arizona Leather because our DD has their stuff and we love it, but with the two dogs and their buttery leather and this being a beach location, we decided against the leather. The fabric on the LaZboy almost looks like leather - hard to describe. Very nice and super supportive and comfortable. We opted to add reclining to two of the middle seats, too. We chuckled that we feel like we did when we first got married. New house, appliances and now furniture shopping. lol
I am not sure what we will do with all the antiques in storage, but I don't think we will be using most of them. I'm still overwhelmed but taking it one day at a time.
A couple friends stopped by on Saturday while we were at the Cape and we were able to give them a quick tour. They have a house further down the Cape. Fun to see friends and neighbors.
I missed going to my 50th high school reunion in Missouri and was able to see many photos on Facebook and Instagram. It turned out that my best two friends were not able to attend and we had a big class of over 400. I hardly recognized anyone in photos- lol. Boy, did we get old!
Ann, I am so glad your back is better. Hope you rest up today, too. - Just read about the tick bite now. Let us know how it goes.

Finally back home. The gal there said it was 'my choice' to have it removed fully or just let it be as once it's dead it doesn't carry the disease. I opted to have it removed. Just the thought of some 'critter' inside of me just was wrong on too many levels.
She asked if I wanted to be numb for pain and I said no. I'd rather deal with the pain all at once. She was as gentle as she could be and finally it was removed. I could just about 'see it' when she showed it to me. Carl was spot on when he said he removed the body but the head was still in there. That's what she was left to get out.
She called in an Rx just a one shot deal as the tick was very small. If it were large she would have put me on a full regiment of pills.
Carl is off now picking that up along with what we need at Hannaford's and Tractor Supply. I thank God for him. He is always willing to step up to the plate with no complaints.
She did say that symptoms of Lyme disease are similar to the flu...tired muscle aches and pain and just feeling off. I laughed and said I feel that way a LOT and she agreed most people do. She did say that there is a blood test that can be given to me after three weeks or so. She couldn't do it now as it's too early in the game. You bet I will have that done to ease my mind.
Thanks for listening and I appreciate all the warm comments and prayers.

Yes, Ann, I am glad you'll line up for that test. I think the key to Lyme Disease is knowing early. Both my brothers had it and found out early so they were treated and have no lingering effects. My boss had it too. He had the bull's eye and was treated asap. Ugh...hopefully, it was not a Lyme tick. Sorry you had to go through that. It's always something, right? Like you said, we are always tired with muscle aches and pains. LOL Hang in there and feel better!

Oh, and update on Daisy after her seizure. She has to go in for a checkup but they don't even consider putting dogs on meds for seizures unless they happen frequently and last for more than 3-4 minutes. Luckily, she rebounded nicely. I am thinking the fire alarm stressed her and set her off. It was alike a little epileptic seizure.
P.S. I am feeling extra tired today and I slept a long time. We go to bed SO early in the hotel. I mean by 9 pm we are asleep or I read a bit until about 9:30

Judy so happy for the good news on Daisy. Our french poodle had seizures and was on medication for them as at that time, that's how they treated it. That was in the 60's They have come a long way since then. Thanks for the thumbs up on Lyme disease. Hopefully mine will come out negative. I am also extremely tired...not to mention over the top stressed out! Didn't need all this drama right now. Then again, who does? ?

Good Afternoon, WW Friends ~
Happy Monday!! I have been to school and am now back home. Yesterday after our big lunch we decided to skip supper; but did share a Dairy Queen blizzard later in the evening. I had my yogurt & blackberries w/F1 for breakfast, so by the time I got finished at school (2:30) I was starving! I remembered that I had brought home a portion of my steak salad from Saturday night, so I ate that and it was just perfect!
Ann ~ How terrible about your tick bite!! I am so glad you were able to get it taken care of right away! You have really had more than your share of trouble with bugs this year. Hope this is behind you!
Judy ~ I bet you are excited about showing off the new house ... AND new furniture!! How very exciting! You are going to be so comfortable there.
Pam ~ Hope you got your planting done with incident. No more bugs!?! I also loved "labor of love".
I appreciate all your input on the lip care. Who would have thought such a small thing could generate so much discussion?? <LOL> But I am enjoying the Burt's Bees and for years I had used Blistex (but only when it was really bad).
I was approached by our new principal today about subbing for the afternoon tomorrow in one of my Head Start classes, but unfortunately I have a dental appointment (for cleaning) that I've had for six months right after school, so I had to decline. I would have liked to do that, drats!
I think I will go out for a walk before I start supper. BBL. Make a great day!!

Shutting down and chat tomorrow.

Good evening!
Debbie and I walked this morning and were joined by her DBIL who is visiting. After a quick shower, DH and I joined Debbie, her DH, DM,DS3, DSIS & DBIL for breakfast. They served a dish with bread and a tomato & green pepper sauce over a fried egg, sausage patties, bacon, biscuits, coffee and orange juice. I don't care for fried egg at all, so I just had a sausage patty and a small biscuit and the OJ, but DH enjoyed the egg dish very much. We spent a very pleasant 2 hours there visiting, then a few minutes at home before heading to DH's wound care appointment. I was also able to juggle laundry loads in between activities.
I was very discouraged over DH's wound, which looks so much worse now to me, but the doctor seems okay with it and will do cast changes on Mondays and Thursdays. Afterwards, DH and I had a late lunch at Walk Ons, a sports bar chain that is very popular here. I had bbq pork with cheese and hot cole slaw on a brioche. It was delicious, but huge. I only ate half the bread, the filling and a couple of onion rings and waffle fries and I was stuffed. I had a Carrot Cake OO and a small slice of cheese for supper.
I didn't get any gardening done today, other than watering outdoor potted plants, but DH and I figured out what to plant where and that will be tomorrow's big task, as they're predicting rain for later in the week. The floors badly need cleaning, but it will have to wait. I only have so much energy and I have hospice team meeting and a hair appointment tomorrow, too.
Ann - UGH to the tick! I hate those critters! You are wise to keep a close eye and follow up. A man in my caregiver support group was having serious health issues that turned out to be undiagnosed Lyme disease. He has no idea when or where he got the tick bite.
Judy - I'm glad to hear little Daisy is doing okay. Hopefully, it was an isolated incident. I am a big believer in listening to your body and resting as needed. Your tiredness could be a delayed reaction to all the stress you have been under the past few weeks.
Sue - I had to laugh a little at all of our dry lips, too. I am beginning to believe I am allergic to some of the no-smudge lip glosses I use. Seems like my lips get really dry and peel after using one for a couple of days. Of course, since Covid, I seldom go anywhere that I need makeup, since mostly I go to doctor's office and church and both places a mask is required. Your DQ Blizzard sounded heavenly!
I'm going to read a bit and head to bed. Wishing all a restful night!
