This is a thread devoted to those in their 50s, 60s, 70s and beyond who don't have children or grandchildren but live rich, full lives. Please feel free to join our stroll thru life and come back often for support and to share. *************** 🐇🐇🐇 Happy first of the month.
It’s National Cinnamon Day. Cincinnati chili has cinnamon as one of its spices. Skyline Chili and Gold Star Chili are the two fast food places here that serve Cincinnati chili. Traditionally, it is used as a topping over spaghetti or hot dogs. My DM used to put chili over spaghetti and all my NY friends thought this was weird.
It’s also National Cook for your Pets Day. Karen celebrates this all the time. Lucky Arya!
Speaking of Arya, I hope she is doing better today.

Chele, thanks for the 🐇🐰🐇 start. I remember my dad talking about them serving chili over spaghetti. He used to make a great chili, but we never served it over spaghetti at home. I think that's definitely unique to Ohio. I've had Skyline Chili before but I don't think I've had Gold Star.
Karen, hope Arya is doing better.
It's a nice day here and we're supposed to stay in the upper 70s. Hope everyone has a good week.

Thanks for the start, Chele. 🐰🐰🐰 Cinnamon is one of my favorite spices. I've been using a bit of Vietnamese Cinnamon on my cereal in the mornings for its sweetness. So, like cooking for my pet, I guess you could say I celebrate it every day. I like chili over spaghetti, but sometimes I mix in some kind of macaroni. I think I have had Skyline but not Gold Star. Which do you like best? Arya seems to be much improved today. Dale said she whined once over night but I didn't hear it. I guess I was still zonked from lack of sleep the previous night that I didn't hear it.
Linda, I'm glad you are feeling better. It's amazing how they bus them in from all over when people are giving out free candy. The day after Halloween was probably one you dreaded when you were teaching. We would probably have to go to UT for laser treatments for Arya. She seems to be doing better today, so hopefully it's resolving on its own.
You sound like me on the candy, Kathy. None of it looks that good to me these days. Maybe that's not a bad thing. Your weather sounds very comfortable, but it's not that far off from that here. We're supposed to get into the mid 60s. Arya seems to be improving. Dale is on vacation this week, so she is getting more walkies and I think that helps.
My lack of appetite over the past few days has the scale down 3 lbs. I would like to keep it there, but we'll see how it goes. Since I was tied to Arya for most of the weekend, I took the opportunity to do a little inbox cleaning. As of last night, I pared it down from several thousand to 6. Unfortunately, by this morning it was back to 50. I even unsubscribed to several that I don't read all that much. That's the email that I mostly use for online ordering, so I get lots of emails there. My goal is to keep it manageable. Early next year I will work on the one I use for MG. I've pretty much kept everything just in case. Won't be an issue soon.
Waving to the rest of the gang! Hope everyone is having a good day.

Kathy, I remember being in the Cincinnati airport and overhearing a flight attendant saying she had to hurry because she wasn’t leaving Cincinnati without a 3 way. Being a local, I knew she meant Skyline chili, spaghetti and cheese. Non-locals may have raised an eyebrow or two. 🤨😁
Linda, glad to hear you are doing better. I was watching the street from upstairs last night and did not see any trick or treaters. When we first moved here, van loads of kids from other parts of the city were dropped off here. Different cities have different Beggar’s Nights, so I guess they were maximizing free candy.
Karen, I am happy Arya is doing better and only whimpered once last night. I unsubscribe to almost everything retail related after the first email I get. I can’t stand spending time deleting nuisance email. Iggy prefers Gold Star but they are few and far between. The one around the corner from us did not survive Covid. The nearest one is 30 minutes away. Kroger sells Gold Star seasoning packets in case he gets a craving. I hope the 3 lbs stays gone.
I spent the morning doing laundry and working out. Iggy blew some more leaves out to the curb. After lunch we made a run to the Middle Eastern deli and stopped at Starbucks on the way home.
I forgot to mention that Mr Lemon is back inside. 🤬 It was 53° for a high today and the next few days we won’t make it out of the 40s. We are expecting some below freezing nightime temps.

.Mid 80s this week, but higher than norm but beats last years 96! So Micki had a nice walk.
DH had annual checkup with primary. Strict diet gone..yea. Both of us are on slow loss diet. But today we got to go out for early nice supper. We can eat inside if we start at 3:45 with few people around and still get home in time for Micki's insulin and dinner.
Nice dinner at a new place called Cooper's Hawk restaurant and winery. I had trio of tenderloin medallions with different flavored toppings with asparagus and mashed potatoes. DH had the Caesar salad, and shrimp scampi on capellini. I,eft mist if the potatoes and brought home one medallion, and he had only a little pasta. Best steak I have had in a very long time
