Itās National Donut Day. š© I had oatmeal with banana for breakfast. Missed my excuse for a donut.
Linda, I love that sign! I have never seen or heard a mockingbird. I got gas Wednesday at 2.99 and yesterday it was 3.35 in our neighborhood. Across town it is 2.95. Makes no sense.
Kathy, we have seen the hawks circling the fields. Now that the crops are in, it must be easier to spot the rodents and small birds picking at the leftovers.
Karen, my tuna salad has boiled egg, diced sweet onion, diced dill pickle, mayo and a smidge of dijon mustard. I go easy on the mayo. The sacha inchi butter sounds good. I like almonds and I like edamame. Iggy got a Cornish hen at Aldi and I picked up some frozen vegetables. Iggy liked the looks of the organic chicken, so we will probably get that when we run out of what is in the freezer. It was cheaper than the ones at the butchers. I bought a birthday card for a friend at Meijer and it was $4.99. Glad I donāt have to buy them much anymore.
I am trying a new recipe from my bread machine cookbook. It is a Zopf, a Swiss egg bread. Fingers crossed. It should be done by 9:30 am.
Have a good day.

Thanks for the start, Chele. No donuts here either. Breakfast was homemade soy yogurt with rolled oats and fruit. Meat is so much cheaper at Aldi. That's where most of Arya's ground beef and turkey come from. I can get a lb of organic grass-fed beef for a little over $5. Most of the other stores I go to has it from $7 to $9 a lb. I also save a couple of bucks per lb on ground turkey and it's the 93% lean stuff, so it doesn't all cook away. How did the bread turn out?
Linda, that clock sign is in amazing condition. Was it ever used to your knowledge? Casseroles tend to be better the second day anyway. Hope there is enough left that you can have some.
Has your weather improved, Kathy? They had at least an inch of snow at Mt. LeConte. What's on your football schedule tomorrow? Ours are all night games: TN plays KY at 7, then Michigan, Clemson, and Texas all play at 7:30.
Liz, it's Friday!! Hope the week wasn't too brutal and you have a peaceful weekend.
Dale got his 2nd shingles vax this morning. While he was gone, I got the electric mattress pad put on and the bed changed. Just have to take the clean sheets out of the dryer and I'll be done with that chore. I am on my way to work out after I post this. Not sure what else I might get into today. We have another gray, chilly day here. It's only made it to 42Ā° so far. No more rain expected though.

Chele, there are a lot of woods around here so I'm sure the hawks have plenty of small critters to eat. The mockingbird is our state bird and they're everywhere. They're not really the prettiest bird, but it's fun to listen to them go through all their calls. They've been debating whether or not to change the state bird since it's not specific to Florida. Candidates are the scrub jay and the flamingo. Scrub jays are a pretty blue bird and are endangered, so they get my vote. They used to be around one place I worked and would swoop down and steal people's french fries when we ate outside. Never heard of Zopf, but love the name. Hope it turned out good. Karen, this is supposed to be our bad weather day and it's been raining all day so far. They're saying tropical storm type weather is moving in later, but it's not a tropical storm. UCF and FSU are both playing at 4 tomorrow. I'll have to use my Vidgo account to watch FSU/NC State on the ACC Network. UCF is playing Tulane, so it should be an easier game for them.
Linda, looks like you get to catalog some really interesting things.
Liz, wishing you an easy commute and hope you can get home early.

Good afternoon from NYC chicks and thanks for the start Chele. Chele - how did the bread turn out? It sounded interesting; I used to love egg bagels on Sunday mornings fresh from the bakery . St. Crazy is still crazy as you might imagine; many medical cases with some pretty sick people but not many CV-19 thank goodness. It's a chilly and sunny day today, right around 53. I took a walk to the health food store and it was crisp and warm in the sun. I'm not sure if I have this right but did you use butternut squash macaroni for the mac and cheese? I have bought and we like the cauliflower pasta but I haven't made it in awhile. How is Iggy doing? Any new projects on the horizon for him? The pups are doing good (Wally) and so-so Zoe. She will go to the vet tomorrow morning with Gary as I have a hair appointment but I've been very concerned because her lipoma on her hind area is now as big as her head and is impeding her walking and doing her "business". We can't do surgery as it would be much too dangerous with her age and the Cushing's disease. I'm hoping they will offer some reasonable options that will help her quality of life right now. PS: no doughnuts for me either this morning. I did have a biscotti and a couple mandarins. Kathy - I don't recall ever hearing a mockingbird. We have woodpeckers aplenty and some little birds that I have no idea what they're called (apparently bird challenged here). How are the family doing? Any shopping for the holidays yet for you? I've managed to buy for my DS, DNiece and MIL so far and Gary has wrapped them. There's not anyone left in the family for me to buy for but my DS and her family so it's not a bunch of running around for gifts thank goodness. I give my supervisors bottles and pick up something small for my assistant each year. Linda - I was smiling about your comment of the good Italian food from back east! The eggplant sounds like it's very good. I have an air fryer and have yet to use it (hanging my head). Haven't done much cooking other than Sunday evenings when I try to make something that will provide some leftovers. Wally has been back on Apoquel as well. This morning we were at 31 when I got into the car but it's supposed to go back up into the 60s next week. Not too surprising that there's so many respiratory bugs out there with the completely inconsistent weather and crazy NYers in shorts and flip flops last week and puffer coats this week! What a terrific undertaking with the chair repair and lovely sentiment as well. Karen - How was Osteo? Has Dale had any reaction to the shingles vaccine? That's one more for my list along with my flu shot and repeat colonoscopy. Just found out we can't leave the pups with the dog walker for Thanksgiving so it will be just us and the pups. Too many and my in-laws and can't bring them to DS's because of her still unneutered dog. It's performance review time once again and my oh so wonderful new VP wants our self assessments 2 weeks prior to the actual submittal date. I am NOT happy. She wants them to be "meaty" as they are going to be scrutinized much more this year. How is the GI situation doing? How is Arya feeling now? Tomorrow will be the hair salon and WF for my monthly visit. Will have to take a look at their turkeys now. Reached out to the physiatrist to find out if insurance has approved my gel shots. Will try to schedule them for early Dec. Will the MG dinner be fancy or business casual ? Alright, I need to scoot to do some catching up on a few things. Be safe and well dear ladies! Waving to Becky and hoping Dennise is okay. Ciao for now~

The sign was on the Irish pub in downtown for 20 years. They lost the lease in May. I also catalogued the Irish ale taps. The back of a museum is a weird place. You walk by tons of farm equipment in one side and tiers of antique furniture in the other to get to that sign across from a fake horse and old phine company switching boards. That is only the beginning! Right now we have just opened an exhibit for the 150th year of Tempe..have not seen it yet, but a lot will be familiar. One exhibit two years ago was all old medical/dental stuff from the cityā¦whole set ups straight from offices!
The tuna sounds good. Mine has onions, celery , dill Pickle, Miracle Whip. The bread sounds interesting.
One of these days I should make the long trek to Aldis since one finally opened last spring.
We have had mockingbirds copy our whistle for the dogā¦confuses him. Sometimes you can whistle back and forth with them.
Liz, glad dogs are doing better. We will be home too for holidays since out of the 17 of us, only six have been vaccinated, and everybody goes to school or work.
last night dsil here said she and my brother are being tested because they were with her brother and his wife who just found out they have COVID. My brother got the booster in Sept, and she just got it last week.fingers crossed. He injured his back, is in steroid shots, lot of pain and sure does not need to cough.
AZ has worst rate of transmission in the country, triple the number of deaths for a comparable other state that did something about COVID..6 worse death rate in country. The guv is proudly defying the treasury dept that told him he cannot legally use money to prevent COVID by giving it only to schools that refuse to mandate masks. Argg. Lot of sick kids here.

To all who asked, the bread turned out great. I dod more research on it and, apparently, it is supposed to be braided but, obviously, you canāt do that in the machine. I might try one of the free hand recipes when I am feeling ambitious.
Liz, good to hear from you. That sounds so uncomfortable for Zoe. I hope the vet helps her out. Not having to drive to Jersey sounds okay to me, but I am sure you will miss seeing the family for Thanksgiving. Youād better snatch up a turkey fast. There are supposed to be shortages. We are going to DN#2 for Thanksgiving. Everyone has had their vaccine. I wonder why the performance reviews are going to be under the microscope this year. Itās been a tough couple of years. The mac nā cheese was with regular pasta. The cheese sauce had butternut squash in it.
Linda, the museum sounds fascinating. I bet you have a lot of old typewriters. We have a manual one from back in our college years. Our Aldi is just 5 minutes from us. To be honest, I am not sure I would make a long trip to get to one. Celery would be good to add to the tuna salad for a nice crunch. I hope DB and DSIL remain covid free and DBās back feels better. That would be fun to whistle with a bird.
The red bellied woodpeckers are back. We have a pair this time. They were bossing the finches and sparrows around. The dark eyed juncos have also returned. One of the roaming cats was trying to hunt the birds in oir yard soI had to chase her off.

Hey have a lot of typewriters..some really old ones that are odd.
a friend does rolls by starting in the bread machine and after the second kneading or such, she removes them , shapes, them and lets them rise to bake in the oven.
