Today is Donās 75th birthday. I am making a pot roast for dinner and DD Laura and DSIL Scott are coming.
QOTD: Have you noticed a rise in grocery prices? Share examples.
Geri mentioned shepherds pie so I wonder if she and anyone would share how you make it or your recipe?
KC you are doing so good and a star at rehab. Congratulations to Liv.
Vicki good for you getting some results in the bath remodel.

AOTD: I bought a chuck roast for our dinner tonight. The rump roast I first looked at was $27, so I bought a chuck roast for $16. I havenāt bought any sizable beef in a couple years so I was surprised at the price. Also I saw Stacyās Pita Chips for $6.99. I had picked them up BOGO in Florida for 2/$5 a year or so ago. Produce seems higher to me too, however I used to buy much of it at my local Florida produce stand. I miss that. I could get 3 bags of produce, both fruit and vegetables for about $20.00. Otherwise we now live where there is a Costco so itās hard to compare prices. I think overall I am spending less now.

Everything seems a lot more expensive. I have some steaks in my freezer which I bought a month or two ago thankfully. Yes I was shocked even at the price of hamburger and a chuck roast! Vegetables have gotten much more expensive as well... Hopefully once all of this post covid transportation bottleneck gets fixed prices may come back down a little bit.
Yesterday I managed to spill an entire cup of coffee on my laptop keyboard. The keys are not working now but the computer still seems operational. I ordered a new keyboard from Amazon but I also have my total knee replacement surgery scheduled very early tomorrow morning. I probably won't be on here for a few days.
So far all is well. I'm still maintaining three months into lifetime and I'm just hoping that the surgery doesn't throw me off but if it does I'll just go back onto weight loss for a little bit. I hope everyone has a nice day.

Prices. I bought the smallest roast they had and it was almost $19. I I ate it for days but it wasnāt that good. However it was the first beef other than hamburger I had in probably two years.
Happy birthday to Don.
I just am not up to looking for sales at the grocery now. ALDIs is next to Walmart and sprouts is across the street and Publix is on about every other corner . I try to go to Publix once a week and mostly get items on sale. I am back going to Walmart because it is a bit cheaper but parking and exiting there is hard. I miss krogers Trader Joeās is in north Naples but I was never a fan of it so not worth the drive Costco is 5 miles but the crowd is overwhelming when the snowbirds are here.

Good morning
KC Congrats to your Athletic Scholar DGD. Wonderful accomplishments!
Iāve noticed rising prices and havenāt seen the seasonal ābargainsā in produce, either. Every item seems to be higher each week. I donāt buy meat but other items are higher, too. In looking at menus, it looks like for those who eat out, itās far more expensive. People mention, on restaurant review sites, that the prices on the check are higher than listed on the menu or a āCovid feeā is added on.
I see that Boosters are being offered at the Senior Center in the next town. Having had the J&J shot (ugh) Iām still confused as to which booster is best.
Made a most delicious Minestrone yesterday and Black Bean Brownies. Still need to make the āmeatballsā. Jotted down a WW friendly baked Eggplant Parm. Recipe. Iāll just have to omit the cheese.
Off to Yoga and swim. Jane, today is Chair Yoga. She teaches for those who stand or those who need the chair for support. I love this class because we do hand, foot and neck exercises not vovered in other yoga classes. Hope you try it.
Happy Birthday to DGD Janet, Pat. Happy Birthday to Don, Sharon. Enjoy your dinner! Vicki, hope theyāre wrapping up one bathroom now. Youāll love it!
B Celery Juice, Mango L Minestrone D ? S Brownie, Apple, Popcorn, Shake I get beans, banana and applesauce in the brownies and banana, strawberries and kale in the shake. One banana is spread among 16 brownies. My digestion seems to have improved but this is such a way of life for me now.
Happy Wednesday all!
Marlo

Good morning ladies.
I've really noticed grocery prices going up. I can't believe the price of meat! Thankfully it's just the two of us.
The bathroom guys were here bright and early again this morning. It's amazing how much work can get done in a day when people actually show up! The hall bathroom is finished with the exception of the handheld shower wand but the shower head is up and the vanity top/new faucets are installed. The master bathroom has been completely gutted and they're working on building the walk in shower. If they keep up this pace, everything should be finished within two weeks. I hate that it came to me calling the owner and showing him a bit of my Irish temper. It should never have come to that but it seemed to light a fire under them.
Sharon, happy 75th to Don! Enjoy the family birthday celebration.

Jane you can go online and order your groceries from Walmart either on your computer or on their app. You just pick a time when you want to go pick them up. There is no charge for this service. There is a designated pick-up area you just pull up your car and using the app let them know you're there and they will bring your groceries out and put them in the trunk. Easy peasy and a lot better than trying to fight all those crowds particularly with covid-19 still being around.

Getting ready to leave for my annual skin check at the dermatologists. I had a few minutes to check in and don't know what my day will look like later. I do not like late afternoon appointments because they put me into rush hour traffic. Yuk! I probably should have rescheduled for a better time. What was I thinking???
Sharon, A big Happy 75th birthday to Don. Is pot roast one of his favorites? Enjoy having family there to celebrate with you!
AOTD: I have noticed a rise in food prices. Publix raised there prices a lot when the pandemic began. Now I pick and choose what groceries I buy and where I buy them. I now do a lot of shopping at our new Aldi's. They have organic produce and their dairy is cheaper and pretty good. The biggest rise in prices have been at Publix. I have noticed cheese was over $1 more for gorgonzola. Now that I have to watch my cholesterol I am not eating nearly as much cheese. Fresh wild caught fish is lots more expensive and not much is available. Chicken and beef have both gone way up, too, especially on the grass fed, organic, antibiotic free. We eat so little that I don't worry too much about it. When we shop at Publix it is generally for sale items. I am surprise Costco has not raised the price of their rotisserie chickens. I keep expecting that is coming. I have noticed that they don't have their chickens ready for the 9 a.m. early opening. That happened the last 2 times I was there. If you shop at Publix watch those receipts. If it rings up wrong the item is free. I have caught them on that more than once. I think Kroger used to do that, too.
Shraegae, Sorry about your keyboard. Best of luck with your surgery. Heal quickly. Hopefully you will be back joining us sooner than you think. I am sure your weight will maintain.
Vicki, Yes, the squeaky wheel does get the grease. Glad you spoke up and they are now taking good care of you.
Marlo, I have not noticed a COVID fee on restaurant bills. Hair salons and nail salons have them. Most of the restaurants here have just raised their prices. We have a few restaurants that are in danger of closing because they cannot get reliable help. It has been a real problem that has been on our local news.

Good afternoon, friends. Another beautiful day in SC. I put my sweatshirt over my short-sleeved shirt to walk to slide dance and took it off the minute I got outside. It is now 75. Class was great, then did my weights and resistance routines at the gym and walked back. I am grateful to be here and to have so many activities available. I am just short of 8000 steps already. YAY.
Last night's Shalom Club meeting for new members was lovely. I was not in great control with the buffet, though. I stayed away from the bread and stuff like mayo, but ate 3 or 4 good-sized cookies and a small bag of potato chips. Then I 'grazed' when I got home and could not get to sleep. Maintenance is harder when I start to eat something like a starchy carb or sugar. I should know by now to stay away from them. BUT I met some wonderful new people and sat at a table with a terrific woman I knew from my slide dance class and enjoyed talking with her friends. I am going to temple Friday with the co-president of the organization and will join the temple Sisterhood. Also hooked up with someone from the Canasta club and will sign up for that. I miss playing cards. I have not stepped foot in a temple since 2012. They only meet once a month. I shall see if I feel comfortable with this group.
AOTD: I have definitely noticed price changes. I don't really look at individual prices but the total is way higher. I go out to eat fairly often and those prices are rising as well. There are some things I like at Publix but their prices are higher than at the other stores in the area. I use many of their products and do not have the patience to travel to other places to food shop.
Happy birthday to Don, Sharon. Enjoy your family time.
Good luck tomorrow, Shragae. You have shown great discipline and I trust will be able to get back to your routine quickly. Tell me, how long will you stay in the hospital and are you going to be at a rehab place afterwards? One thing that helped me after my surgery was to do as much activity as I could in addition to the PT. I was religious about building up my time on my recumbent bicycle and did some weights and aerobic things with my arms. I get depressed when I am not active so that was as important for my mental health as for anything else. Here is to a successful surgery and rapid recuperation!
Marlo, so glad your digestion is improving.
It is a shame that we have to speak up more now than we used to to get things done, Vicki. Thank goodness you did, though. Who knows where you would be without having done so?
I agree with Shragae, Jane, about Walmart. Didn't you do the ordering ahead in the past? My Walmart does it too. Then you don't even have to get out of the car. My neighbor across the street does that all the time with Kroger's and Walmart. She is disabled so it is a huge help.
Ruth, I make some mistakes in scheduling appointments too and always regret it afterwards. Sometimes I just cannot avoid it, but it is a pain to travel when traffic is heavy.
I was insensitive at the luncheon yesterday. My wonderful neighbor whom I just mentioned has a severe weight problem and is working on losing weight so she can have some much-needed surgery. Someone at our table asked me about how I had lost my weight and I told her, then showed her a photo of me at my heaviest. The woman passed the photo around. Should not have said so much about it in Anna's presence. She is one of the most considerate women I have ever met. I will ask her if she wants to go out to lunch or dinner together so I can spend more time with her.
Well, here it is almost 3 and I have not eaten anything yet. I am off. Have a great Wednesday.

Shragae. I was doing the Walmart order with the pick up at the beginning of all this , many times what I wanted didnāt show on line. I really prefer going in and there was a minimum amount before. I canāt remember but think it was $30. The problem with doing that is still getting out the exit. I now have to drive up the road and u turn. Really I am faster going in and getting my own except when I canāt get in a 20 items or less line . I really donāt mind going in a grocery. I just donāt want to go to several. That really tires me.
Good luck with your surgery. I had both knees replaced at the same time in 2002 . No therapists after leaving the hospital. Surgery on Wed. Home on Sunday. I was shown the pt and was on my own to do it with Don or Jeff. They were shown at the hospital and expected me to work on it with them. Back line dancing in 8 weeks Knees are now worn out but they are 19 years old .
I went to the craft class at the library. Not much to it.
