Good morning everyone
Today hubby volunteers and I have the house to myself until 1pm. Going to work on finishing the Christmas decorating. The tree is finished. That takes the longest.
Bought new ornament hooks at Target. The are thick twisted gold and super pretty. They were only $4.00 for a package of 24. Bought one package and then realized I needed about 10 more so dd#1 got another one when she was there yesterday. Used some of the old hooks to finish the tree. Will save new package for next year.
I feel really good this morning. Slept great last night. Shot area still a little tender but I can move it around without pain. So glad I got booster and recovery is over.

Good morning Mar & ATF,
Sunny and 61 here; the high will be 68. Looks like a nice day.
I'm planning on visiting with my boys this afternoon for some fun with them. Will be a nice treat!
The on going saga of my car....it failed inspection but the advice of the mechanic was to take it for a ride and bring it back tonight or tomorrow morning for a redo. This sometimes happens after repairs. I think it will be tomorrow...don't want to try and speed back.
Hope everyone has a nice day!

Morning All!
In the midst of one of those family things and wish to high heaven that I was not involved. Every year with the exception of last year, I have hosted Christmas Eve. It is a buffet type dinner and any and all friends are invited. We usually end up with about 20+ people. Since my niece and her family have not been vaccinated (6 people in total), the remainder older folks of the family will not come. I understand completely. My solution to the situation was to cancel the event again for a second year. I will not divide the family by not inviting those who choose to remain unvaccinated. Anyway my SIL is pushing for some kind of celebration â she feels cheated, etc. Iâm sure Iâve mentioned this before. Well she called me and she has talked her daughter into having a âvaccinatedâ celebration at her house and I told her that I wouldnât not attend. To me Christmas eve is the âwhole familyâ or not at all. I really blew it this time. My brother, who usually stays out of these kind of things showed up at my house yesterday and that just made things worse. I have a lump in my stomach and didnât sleep very well last night thinking about it. The holidays, growing up in my large family were amazing. With the loss of my mother and my brother (those I lived with), there is a hollowness that I try to ignore for the sake of the holiday. I guess Iâm in the midst of a depression episode. I know others get them around the holiday and Iâve always used staying busy to dispel any Christmas woes. With no celebrations to keep me distracted, all I have are my own thoughts which are not comforting at all.
Betty I am sorry you are feeling down with your anniversary coming your way. It is perfectly understandable. Wishing you comfort and love from friends and family to help you through it.
Marilyn glad you are feeling better and the reaction was a short one.
Connie you have such a great attitude about pain, loss and getting on with life. Most of the time I can do what you are talking about. For some reason right now, having trouble.
Lin read about your feet. When they hurt, nothing else matters. I wear easy spirit clogs most of the time now. The soles are like sneakers, cushioned with an arch support. The uppers vary in material, color and texture. I have them in about 20 different colors and styles. I love them that much. They can be pricey, but I watch for salesâŠâŠ If you are not familiar with them, check them out. I am a former Clarks shoe personâŠ..
Emily enjoy your time with the boys. Sorry about the car. Does your mechanic do inspections? Possible way to avoid the repeat visits to the motor vehicle.
Iâve got plans to steam mop the kitchen today. I usually wet mop it at least once a week, but every once in a while it needs an extra deep clean.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day!

Dayle- I am so sorry the holiday party is messed up again this year. It is sad the unvaccinated wonât be allowed to attend. Those vaccinated with booster have protection from serious complications if they catch it. The real risk is for the unvaccinated. Maybe things will change and all of you can be together. Hope so. Itâs nice you have such a big family.
The Christmas holiday bring sad feelings to many. I am one of them. I miss the big big family gatherings we will never have again. Family has either passed away or lives far away. Only 5 of us for Thanksgiving and 6 of us for Christmas. I feel thankful I do have hubby, daughters and a sister to still celebrate holidays with. In the past we had about 35 gather. DD#2 hopefully will be able to come for Christmas but might not. She started a new job in October and doesnât have vacation time yet. They might give her unpaid days off but she is salary and not sure how they can do it. She has worked hard so hopefully they just give her the time off. She is the beverage manager and they can live without her a few days. Doesnât actually work in the 7 restaurants/bars she manages.
I keep busy, decorate the house and try on focusing on the positive. Both my parents died very close to Christmas. Dad December 28. Mom January 5. I allow myself to grieve the past and grieve the loss of my parents. I just try and not dwell on it.

Mar, glad you are feeling better. Enjoy having the house to yourself. Deaths close to holidays âŠwow.
Emily, it is good that your state inspects cars. Mine does not care and a lot of unsafe stuff is in the roads, especially since cars do not rust here. They do check emissions and get a hefty fee for it.
Dayle@dayleg,I feel your pain. I hosted 16 people for sit down roast dinner with onion soup and a big table of appetizers first. It was hard. By age 70 I decided with arthritis it was too much. Last year because of one Anti-vaccine family, we stayed away but dropped off the usual pie and cranberries before hand, then pie and brother's favorite rum punch before Christmas and had a short visit with them.
It will be same again since the new arrivals of niece and spouse and three kids are not vaccinated. I could see them masked for a short visit, but 10 out of 16 unvaccinated inside? No. 22,000 people in my state died so far. 71% of them were over 65. 238 of them in my county were vaccinated. we are the only state whose leading cause of death is COVID.
today is pick up dog fish oil, a couple groceries, hopefully finish outside lights. Hope feet hold out.
My other problem with shoes is narrow feet, so without laces or straps I walk out of what my toes like! I ordered some larger laced Clarks last night. We shall see.

Just got home from shopping with my neighbor. Didn't really buy much. My DD wants me to make mashed potatoes for Thanksgiving and Wal Mart had them on sale so I did get those and got a new belt for my vacuum. Went to Fleet Farm and I got dish soap, dog treats and peanuts for the squirrels. Big shopper.
Dayle, I am so sorry that your holiday gathering is not going to be for the 2nd year. It is not easy to make everyone happy but it sounds like you have tried to make Christmas a celebration for your whole family. I remember one year that my mother in law had broken her arm a few days before Christmas Eve and she was not able to have the usual dinner for the whole family. I offered to have it and one of DH sisters had such a fit about it because it wouldn't be the same. Of course it wasn't the same and she made sure to let everyone know it was my fault. Because of her attitude nobody had a good time. Not the same situation as yours because we weren't dealing with a pandemic. Families can be difficult at times.
Mar, so glad you're feeling better and the booster shot symptoms are gone.
I just ordered some Easy Spirit clogs. They have been shipped and I'm anxious to get them. I needed some shoes to just slip into rather than my walking shoes that have to be tied. Hate going through that to just walk out into the garage or go out to feed the birds.
Not sure what the afternoon will bring maybe a nap, maybe some sewing or maybe just reading a book. First I better figure out what to make for lunch and also if I need to take something out of the freezer for supper.
Enjoy your day. bettyj

I read an article years ago that these 2 holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas are the most stressful ones of all. Families seem to cause most of the stress and of course 2nd to that is the loss of loved ones, good memories or bad ones raise their heads!!! I've often wondered if my Mom had all these issues, seemed to me as a kid that my Mom was always grumpy this time of year and I would catch her crying, just big tears rolling down her face. she never said a word and she and Dad were very close this time of year. She didn't talk to me about family issues but my maternal Grandma did some to me when I got older. I think that writing down and posting the stress here helps a lot. We don't feel alone in our thoughts and stress!!
I remember when my girls were in grade school these holidays always meant, chicken pox, colds, asthma, pneumonia or one year even the measles and mumps. My family was so scattered that some years it was just the 4 of us!! When I look back those actually were the best times of all. But back then it sure didn't feel like it.
Mar, I haven't seen those hooks but they sound really pretty I think I would switch them all out. I know what you mean about deaths in family. I have a lot as well, seems my family picks this time of year to die. Dad , Mom, 2 brothers, sister in law and also a niece. December all of them over the years. My Mom just 6 years ago.
Emily, I know my car has to be driven after each repair etc , then the warning light goes out. the tire pressure light goes out before I get to the bottom of the drive way, when my DSIL put air in tires. He drove it around his block for me to be sure though. Some have to be changed by mechanic and hope your's is okay now.
Went to drive through window to pick up my 2 prescriptions. No charge so that was quick and easy. then to drive through ATM for some cash for the weekend, going to W.Va. I like these drive through things and ordering but I haven't shopped in long time so I miss out on some things, like Mar finding those pretty hooks. I do not know all the new things. Really need to get to my favorite Greenhouse, huge Christmas tree lane and gift shop, that's where I usually find the stuff that is new . My DD said the Christmas tree lane is really gorgeous this year. Lot of new things. It changes from year to year with different themes in each small walk through rooms. So you can imagine how big it is. What ever you see on the trees are in the big store as well, as are the type of trees they show, both real and fake. Know for miles around and many bus tours and school kids in buses come to walk through the Lane. Starts at Halloween time but this year was a bit late as not everything came in in time. Will be super busy for Thanksgiving vacation weekend. Wednesday through Tuesday.
I can't wear Clogs anymore. My feet slide right off them and sure don't need a fall. This time of year I wear boots alot. You are never sure if there is ice even if you can't see it. In house I still wear by tennis shoes, can't wear the regular ones as they hurt my achilles tendon area. the back of those shoes do a number on me so I am still wearing the low cut ones and love Keds. Bought 3 new pair for winter, patterns and different colors. I miss my high heels every day!!
Dayle, sometimes I just have a good cry or scream in the shower. Has been the best things on "those" days. Usually a good cry starts with a sad movie.

Happy Day All!
Helen - your story about the judge and your new DGS put happy tears in my eyes! That story will sure bear repeating over the years ahead!
Dayle - so sorry about your family division. Everyone has to do what they are comfortable with, or not do what they're not comfortable with - and live with their decisions. The last is often the hard part, I think, as everyone else has to live with others' decisions as well. (not sure that made sense, but that's what came out.) We had a bit of that conflict with our anniversary party. Almost everyone was vaccinated, but there were a few holdouts - including DS and DDIL from FL and a good friend and her DH from here. DS/DDIL did end up getting vaccinated - but after the party. I just let everyone know the circumstances ahead of time. In our case, everyone invited showed up. My one friend on oxygen did wear a mask except when eating.
Mar - glad you're feeling better. DH has to have more bloodwork done for a different doctor, and we'll get our booster after that. Probably all tomorrow. I want him, if he has any reaction at all, to have it before he goes to the big car show near Daytona next Friday. Also want him boostered by then!
Nothing happening here today. Was 63 when I got up around 6:30, and is to be 31 at that time tomorrow. It's raining now, so hope it dries a lot before the freeze. I know it won't stay frozen long, but the mountain road can be very slippery.
Spent much of the last few days changing the auto pay credit card info on various websites. Just realized a few minutes ago I'll have to go back to all of them in a short time to change our billing address. Will be changing our primary mailing and residential address back to FL - and that will include our bank. Will wait to do that until just before we go back for the winter. Now our house is done, it's our official address. I was having all the mail forwarded up here, but they'll only do that for a year. At that time the Post Office notifies all first class mail senders that our address changed to up here. Will be easier for me to do it myself this time. Then will go back to just having mail forwarded to wherever we'll be. Did that for years until the hurricane.
Guess I'll go heat up whatever that is that's thawed out. Sure does smell and look like lasagna! Hope it is. Have a good day, everyone. Cheers!

Betty, I think we were posting at same time. Funny we were both talking about clogs and different opinions. I agree I used to love clogs but when my friend slipped out of her's outside and tore her Achilles tendon, I decided I better stop. Just be careful, know we hurry sometimes and don't give it a 2nd thought. I have a lot of those 2nd thoughts these days.

I worry about those of you wearing clogs. Seems like no stability and can cause other issues. I would be worried about falling or twisting an ankle.
I googled it. This is what two sites are saying. There are a lot more sites talking bad about wearing them daily.
Harmful Design. According to the good folk at Natural Footgear (a team promoting natural, foot-healthy choices), clogs cause or contribute to many foot and toe problems, including neuromas, pantar fasciosis, and ingrown toenails. ... In fact, clogs tick every box of âharmful shoe design elementsâ.Oct 16, 2019
Clogs, like other conventional shoes, strip your foot of its inherent power, destabilize your main foot arch, and contribute to common toe deformities and problems, such as hallux valgus, bunions, tailor's bunions, hammertoes, clawtoes, among others.
Christmas deco coming along. Table pads, cloth, placements are set up. Only one more box of miscellaneous items I need to go through to see if I want to put it out. Got the lights into the village buildings. Looks really pretty on the mantle. I think I will do this every year and not put out all 9 on coffee table like I always have. I put the prettiest 4 on the mantle. These are ours. The others belonged to my MIL. They are not as good of quality as ours but pretty. In between and in front are the people, Christmas trees and other city deco.

Just stopping by to say hi. Chilly and sunny today. If I'm awake at 2 or later tonight I'm definitely going to check on the moon. It would be a rare night if I was not awake, bathroom stop sometime during that time. The moon came up tonight clear and bright.
