Can you believe here we are at the last Monday of 2021! I think most of us will be glad to say Bye, Bye 2021. I know I will. Not sure what this week will bring. Hopefully my back will get its act together. Oldest great grandson plans to come see me Wednesday. The first he will be in Tampa Fl. doing contract work for the military. Same thing he was doing in the army. It is just with his wrist problem he can't be deployed. He can't shoot a gun.

Today not much planned but we are going to Texas Roadhouse for dinner. We have gift cards and Fred has the coupon given to vets for a free dinner so it will be a freebie which are always the best! I’m pretty sure they will be very busy as around the holidays they are always swamped but they will be opening at 3 so if we get there early it shouldn’t be too bad.
We are finding it interesting that so far after having made our landline my cell phone number I don’t receive those awful robo calls. Of course it could start again after the holidays but for now the peace and quiet of no ringing is wonderful!

I am in bed using my phine to pisr this. I had a dab of energy today so did a few things that ive wanted to do for a ling time plus a few things i needed to do but i am really tired tonight. Yes i still have my helper. Some days i couldn't make it through withour her. Sometimes shes a little lax when it comes to cleaning but shes good natured and does anything i ask. Just wish i could hire her for more hours.. doggieboy is getting so ild. Can only hear certain tones. Hes blind in one eye and has arthrit3in his hips and back legs. But hes a happy boy as long as he can be near me. Lily continue to be the boss and sometimes gets too demanding. Doggie just lets her have her way. Hes very east going. Liiy is pretty jealous...
Tomorrow i will start my to do list for the coming year. Dont make resolutions. I must go to sleep now
Jenny
Thank you Lucy for the corn salad recipe. Yes i would have to leave out the corn, even though i love it. Its on my no list

Hi!
Jenny, I'm glad you're feeling better. Yes, Lucy, the season has flown by. Thanks for starting the thread through this past month.
One of our gifts from DDIL and DS was a bucket of chex mix. Nibble, nibble...Much more addictive than cookies or candy. I'm going to have to get some control!
This morning, I saw an ad for ham pot pie. Does that sound good to you? I never worry about coming up with a new use for leftover ham -- it's gone too soon. Turkey -- now that is another story.
Today, our routine is back to normal. DH has had his long walk (circling the house) and I have done my first short one. I cannot do as long a walk as he can, but I break it up throughout the day.
The laundry is done and the grocery order is picked up and put away. Lunch will be egg salad sandwiches, and for dinner we'll have the leftover beef roast. So it should be a quiet day.
I have a Christmas puzzle on the table now, and will work on that in a little while. No other plans today.
Have a happy day today, and enjoy a bit of fun!
Diane

Holiday is over and hopefully the rain will take a break too. The ranch is flooded. Jim still in bed but it is still early for him. I do hope to get some things done today like raking. The leaves are still falling since we had such a warm fall so winter is turning into "fall again".
Lucy: My DH#1's oldest brother who is still alive at 84 was a Navy man (a submariner) and when he retired the Navy would send him all over the world occasionally to repair a certain valve on submarines. Apparently he did it better than the newer repairmen who were still in the Navy. I know I have mentioned that he was on the Thresher right before it sank and he knew about 70% of the men that went down with the ship. That was such a hard time for him. And, now at 84 he is dealing with his retired nurse wife that has dementia. I pray for them every day. Both of his brothers died young...My DH#1 at age 56 and the other brother at 60. I think the fact that his nurse wife got him to stop smoking at a young age might be why he has lived so long. She smoked too but I guess when the medical info came out she realized it was a bad idea and she became a non-smoking nag....LOL.
See you all later for tuck in.
Enjoying Cool Weather Kathie

Sandy, The more places you have to give your Cell phone number out the more robo calls you will get. I don't even give my cell phone number to Dr office. I hardly ever get them on my cell phone but that is because every place that wants a phone number I give my land line phone. Keeps the cell phone clean, the only reason I keep the land line. it does tell me possible Scam or robo call , most time don't answer it and let it go to message. Course my land line is very reasonable with the cable and internet and phone package. I buy my new land lines but that doesn't happen often and the new ones now have block calls etc on it. Do Not like my cell phone ringing all the time with phone calls.
Ham pot pie, oh that does not sound interesting to me at all.
Jenny, sounds like you are starting to feel a bit better, hope it continues. It is hard to know at first how much you should do, hope you listen to your body.
Lucy, thanks for doing December. It sure flew by. almost gone already.
I do not make New Years Resolutions either, haven't in long time. My habits good and bad are pretty well ingrained in me now. Just try to be a good person, upbeat and loving to all of those around me. Be appreciative of all I do have.
We have SNOW and quite a bit of it. wet kind and do see they plowed the road early this morning. It is windy and temp is 35°. I kept singing Let it Snow, Let it Snow all day yesterday but don't tell anyone.!!

January theme names:
Will stay upbeat for 2022, Sandy IL Back to Gym Class, Lucy TX Self Care, Diane OK Walking More, Nancy IL Brightly Colored Chalk, Mollie MO Do Better, Connie WPA Working on Me, Phyl WI Trying to Look Forward, Kathie CA Live Today, Plan For tomorrow, Marlene WI Jenny CA Sue MT
My usual Monday of doing the laundry. The last load is washing now & soon I will re-make our bed. The sheets are dry.
Thought we might go for a few grocery items but don't think so now. Those stair steps tire me out & I'm not done climbing them yet for today. I don't have any urgent needs from the store.
Connie, lucky you to have snow! We had rain/snow last night, I even heard thunder. Today we have what appears to be slush on the grass - I haven't been out. The driveway & streets have nothing. We were planning to go visit my sister in assisted living farther north this Saturday. Their long range forecast says they are to have 5 inches of snow Saturday, so that will kill our going. I'll watch their weather as the week progresses.
We had a good time & meal at DDs yesterday. GS did a great job cooking our dinner. We were home early as I don't like being out after dark. We laugh about that but prefer to be home early. We also go to bed early - not quite as early as Lucy but not much later. Don wants to be hooked up to dialysis by 9:00 so he is done before he wants to get up.
Lucy, I hope you & Connie will continue posting pictures next month & long after that. I always look forward to the pictures you two contribute.

I had a dental appointment this morning to put on my permanent crown. I'm now able to eat something - I had to wait at least an hour to be sure that the cement sets. My friend brought me some leftover ham, so I'll have a ham sandwich later on. It's rainy today with 43 degrees. Snow is predicted for tomorrow.

Marlene, I am in bed by 9:30 most nights. Sometimes I make it to 10. Hard to stay up when it gets dark so early.
We NEED rain badly! Please send some this direction. Fire danger here.
Keep the snow. I never want a week like we had last February.
I will keep the pictures coming. It's what I do.

Wish I could send you the rain Lucy. It is raining again now. The ranch is soooooo wet. The arenas are flooded and hard to ride in them but the track around our property is not too bad. Some horses like to roll in the water so a lot of people have had to wash their horses. The pastures aren't too bad because the green soaks up a good part of the rain.
Tucking you all in now in our SUPER SOFT BLANKET WHICH IS GREEN IN COLOR WITH BUTTERFLIES AND CANDY CANES ALL OVER. (It matches my Christmas tree) SWEET DREAMS!

Hi!
Thought I'd better check in before going to bed. Today is our 52d wedding anniversary. We had our Christmas celebration with DD's family at her house. DSIL made the three-hour trip to bring his parents here and join in the celebration, then took them home this evening. We had delicious ham, green beans, etc. A very nice day.
Sandy, I thought this was your birthday; but perhaps I'm mistaken. If it is, Happy Birthday! Usually, I'm a day early . . . maybe that's the case. Hope your time at Texas Roadhouse was fun!
Lucy, you have done a wonderful job this month. Thank you sincerely!
Marlene, thank you for being willing to take care of us in January!
Jenny, so very good to find your posts!
Connie, I really like your "let it snow" avatar!
Diane, good for you! Even though it takes several walks, you are getting your exercise. Ham disappears quickly at our house, too.
Nancy, those crowns are expensive! I have several -- one coming in January sometime.
Kathie, I've seen horses roll in the dusty dirt, but not in the rain puddles. Funny! Yes, they would certainly need to be bathed after that. ~~Molly
