This is a thread we had on the WW 50 Year Olds board, so even though most of us have moved beyond our 50's, I am keeping it here. Some prefer to post on Facebook, but for those who may also like to post on something that resembles our old format, I decided to start this. Although we were brought together by our love of books, and we love to share our ideas about books and authors, our friendship has grown, and we know a lot about each others lives. We are spread across the country, and that adds a bit of interest as well, learning about other people's way of life through the "book" they write on the thread.

My guess is that no one may bother checking here today, but just in case, I will wish you a Merry Christmas. I am going to see La La Land with my girlfriend, then am going to make a Cabbage Enchilada Casserole for dinner. it was one of the Blue Apron meals I had from this week, and I am very surprised DH is OK with it. So, no Chinese food for us, surprisingly enough. I finished Broken, which is the 4th in a series. I have 3 left in that, but not sure if I will try to get #5. I started with #8 because it was a new book out by Karin Slaughter, and I loved her book Pretty Girls. I am quickly coming up on a bunch of my holds, might have 2 in the next few days, then 2 more within a week or 2. Plus, I have The Plot Against America to read. The chapters in that are long, but I read over 40 pages yesterday, so if I can get through that amount today and tomorrow, I will not read as much of that each day. I find it interesting, but it is not a compelling read, more historical than having a story line. It's a book club read though. I have a long time until then, but have it from the library for 2 weeks.

Good morning and Merry Christmas and Happy Chanukah!
We had a quiet day together yesterday. I made basically a repeat of Thanksgiving with different sides. Had to elevate my foot often, so it took me most of the day to make a simple meal. I planned a dessert that never got prepared cuz I became too tired, but we had grape salad as one of the sides so didn't really need an extra sweet. After dark played Santa and put large popcorn tins at the other RV doorsteps:).
DH still sleeping, will open gifts later on. it feels so strange to NOT be traveling on the holidays after so many years of it.
Robin--did a bit of reading past posts--you are a busy gal! And you still find time to read:)
Jill--sorry to read about your dad. It sure is hard, and more so around holidays. Hope things go smoothly with him...
Have a peaceful day, all!

Carol, did you mention you were having foot surgery, or you did already? I should be taking notes on everyone. I find that my back hurts a lot when I try to cook too many dishes at once, so I really have to plan out.
The Plot Against America is different than I thought it would be after the first chapter. It is actually revisionist history, and seeing as I didn't check something from the first chapter, I didn't realize. It's a book about what if someone else was elected instead of FDR in 1940. Won't tell you who though.
