Our reading lives are too short for books we don't care for. For sure, Ann and Connie! I had to struggle through HARLEM SHUFFLE by Colson Whitehead. It was uneven. I kept going, hoping I would get to another good part. Sometimes I did. On the other hand, I am zooming through WISH YOU WERE HERE. I love that it mostly takes place in the Galapagos. Having recently read Darwin's ON THE ORIGIN OF SPECIES, I appreciate Jodi Picoult's research. Tidbits of interesting info here and there. I read THE GUEST LIST, Ann, and enjoyed it. The story gradually reveals information about the characters' pasts. As the NYT review put it, "Pay close attention to seemingly throwaway details about the characters’ pasts. They are all clues."
