We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched!

Happy May Day! 😊.....Do kids even do May Baskets anymore. Used to be a fun & exciting thing to make & deliver May Baskets around my small town. We would leave on the front step, ring doorbell or knock & run!....😊 Happy Memory.

Happy May Day! I'm reminded of that song from Camelot, "It's May, it's May, . . ." Linda, your memory of the May baskets sounds wonderful. We never did anything like that when I was growing up. Wonder why? Wish we had. Anxious to see how Obamacare is going to fare. I would love to see them fix the known problems, but from what I'm reading it sounds like a lot of people who have healthcare now are going to either end up losing it or at least losing a lot of the coverage. It may not be as bad as it would be if Paul Ryan totally got his way, but it doesn't sound like it is going to be pretty. Tweety doesn't really care. It was always just a campaign slogan and something to be checked off the list for him. He's bored with it. But it's going to hurt a lot of people, I'm afraid, and more than likely the majority of those people hurt are going to be Tweety supporters. I would say that they are going to get what they deserve, but nobody deserves to be without healthcare. It's so windy here today that my trees look like they're doing the hula. The sun is shining though. We had rain and strong storms last night, and it's about 20 degrees cooler today. Check back later . . .

"I would say that they are going to get what they deserve,"
Or, they're simply reaping what they have sown!
The sad part is people that didn't plant destructive, unfair, and harmful seeds, are also going to be hurt by the foolish and hateful actions of others. Those are the people that don't deserve to suffer. That's how I feel. But, I know life isn't fair.

So now they are dumping Michelle Obama's "Let Girls Learn" program as well as her healthy nutrition in schools program. This guy wants to get rid of everything in any way associated with either Obama, and could care less how his actions harm others in the process. So those programs are gone as of today. His ego is so fragile he can't stand anything not directly shining a light on himself.
Now what was that program Melania was going to champion? Since he's taken office I've heard nothing out of her about championing anything, but prior to the election she wanted to stand up against cyber bullying. Of course we all know where she should start with that.
He is just willy nilly slashing anything that might help others, and that doesn't have his name on it. Of course, the only things that have his name on them are destroying the environment, getting rid of anything helpful, etc. He absolutely disgusts me!!!

I thought they were supposedly Christians.

Oh my gosh! It seems the primary criteria to be given a position by Tweety is that you be in total opposition to whatever program it is and espouse total idiotic nonsense about it. God save us from this idiotic narcissist in the White House!

What a shame to abolish Michelle Obama's programs for Girls & Healthy Eating Lunch programs. But what can you expect from a thin skinned, sniveling heartless, soulless blob of flesh aka DJT. Anything, Melania decides will be her " cause" will be picked & run for her by others. I think Tweety is so jealous & insecure about President Obama that anything he or Michelle have put into effect in last 8 years will be abolished! He actually said on the John Dickerson CBS interview something to the effect that Pres. O. wasn't very nice to him during the transition or after! My god, ! ".......Must be goofy Monday, for Tweety because there sure are a lot of jaw dripping comments being reported today.

Quote from latest interview.....Trump..."Why was there a Civil War? Nobody asks that question!" OMG! Not to mention the fact that he talked about Andrew Jackson as if he was alive during the Civil War. He definitely talked about him in the present tense and now all of his talking heads on TV are saying that he meant IF he was alive. Um no, he literally didn't know that he was dead during that time in history.

hnybny91, his grasp of history seems to be really shallow. As Anne said I would have thought since he went to a military academy that he would have known more history than he apparently does. Sometimes all politicians do misspeak, but his mistakes happen too often and are repeated over and over so that there's no way a reasonable person can give him a pass and think he just misspoke in the moment. I think he genuinely doesn't know any better. Remember he didn't seem to know Frederick Douglass was dead. That one may have been just a matter of misspeaking. I'm willing to give him a pass on Douglass, and say it was. But, over and over he shows us just how far out of his depth he is. If it were just matters of ignorance of history, we could just let the rest of the world have a good laugh and move on past it. But it's not just that with him. The man is so erratic and has such a fragile ego that he is truly dangerous.

EXACTLY! I've listened to that clip several times & he definetly talked about Jackson as if we're alive at the time of Civil War!
I won't give him a pass on anything! He just doesn't deserve it. He even said in his own words in the CBS interview, " I don't stand by anything".
