Ginny, I'm glad you were able to relax and work on some embroidery. I've seen some beautiful embroidery pieces and I'm sure it's easier to work on than having to set up a sewing machine and cut fabric and allthe other things involved in sewing. Still sewing and especially quilting result in such beautiful finished products that it's worth the time if you have it. Embroidery would also be a good travel option depending on how large the item to be embroidered is.With my terrible sewing skills I don't think that anything I embroidered would end up looking very good. I'm glad you'll be able to have the heater installed and all ready for the hookup to the propane. :Hopefully it will be all completed in time to watch the Super Bowl in that room should you choose to watch it.I'm also glad that you probably won't be having a lot of snow.
The weather forecasts for this area are usually very wrong about the wind here. We always comment that we wonder where they get the info because in my area of this town we always have much stronger gusts than the weather forecasts state. Just like yesterday. Even just going down my street toward the highway the wind becomes calmer.
I have followed graphs before but just never a c2c graph. I made a couple little hats with dino on them but it was just crochet rows in the round. I've also made things with hearts following a graph. Doing this blanket in c2c will be interesting. Some of the people in the crochet groups do very intricate patterns using c2c method and a complicated graph with many colors. They use bobbins to keep the yarn untangled. I'll never make one of those. There are also graphs for mosaic and so far I've made one hat using that and a ccouple flat things in mosaic using a chart.
CJ, I do hope that the forecast that Ginny saw is correct and you don't get much snow. I know you are always concerned about getting the walkways and driveways cleared.Without having to worry about that work you'll be able to enjoy your quilting more.Your upcoming plans for new quilts sound wonderful.

Hello Ginny - I'm glad you are going to have some more of the work done in your house without waiting for the plumbing guy. I hope that all goes well, so you can enjoy using that room. I'm glad you are enjoying your embroidery, it's so nice to have those small projects to work on. They are much easier than dealing with a sewing machine and all the other things needed for quilting. Ruth - Are you making a c2c project? (sorry if I missed you saying that earlier). I've seen some that are so pretty. It looks like it's cold out your way, hope you are staying warm. It does look like I'll miss a lot of the snow, and I hope Ginny does too. Looks like New England might get hit bad though. The storms this winter have been strange, or maybe it's just that it was so calm the last few years that I forget that these are normal winter storms. I finished the 4th block for the Sweet Dreams quilt along and I'm fairly satisfied with it. I do like what I'm doing, but I have this low level of dissatisfaction with the quilt for some reason Hopefully that will go away as the quilt comes along. I'm still fighting with myself to stop from starting a second version of this quilt along (actually it would be the 3rd). I finished putting together half of the Snowflake quilt top and hope I can finish the other half in the next few days. I still have another half finished project I'd like to get done. And I was able to do some embroidery last night while I was watching The Amazing Race. I'm about 2/3rds done with this barn piece and sure would like to get it finished too. Take care

Good morning…..will bbl but wanted to comment that some quilts evolve and get better as they go on. I hope CJ can find some enthusiasm about the project.
Ruth- funny that you mention hats with dinosaurs on them!!! Just the other day I put an adorable Dino hat on DGS#2…I remember when it was given to his older brother and now it fits him.
Busy am….but, Lord willing I will be back a little bit later.
My heater went in late yesterday and I LOVE IT. Cannot wait for the final installation of plumbing and the propane tank so that the job is officially done. G

It's cold and sunny this morning!
hb's older daughter just called. She, her husband and son all have covid, the omicron variant.
I am without a helper for now. It's okay but far from ideal. Helper and bf have moved, separately in a melodramatic ending to the poorly written soap opera. I'll find someone eventually, but I'm not in a hurry because omicron numbers are still very high here.
My crafting consists of looking at some yarn sitting near my recliner. For now, I'm more inclined to read. That's probably because I have 1-3 woofers sitting on my lap most of the time! They go out and walk on the snow, then think it's okay to warm their feet on me.
Just stopping by to say hello!

So glad you stopped in to visit us Sue!! Ya know, sitting in the recliner looking at yarn is just fine- and not a bad thing to do. Knowing that you have no help with Dh at this time, a little down time in the recliner sounds good to me. Read, rest up and enjoy the time with the dogs. I hope that you are able to find someone to replace your previous helper and that this person will be a bit more stable and work out better for your situation. Try not to stress over Dh’s daughter and her family having covid….omicron is not - in most cases a big deal. I know of both vaccinated and unvaccinated who have had it and gotten over it just fine. (Not trying to trivialize it but I don’t want you to worry.

Good evening!! Well, just checked the weather and now it looks like I am getting 3-5 inches of snow and some wind. I also check my gf in Maryland…. 1-3 for her- so this storm will be hitting me and perhaps CJ’s general area. I am in for the night and have no plans on going out tomorrow. Problem is Ds has to work a double, and will hopefully get home before there is too much snow on the roads. I am leaving the keys out for my SUV with 4WD, which I hope he takes to work tomorrow, when I am sure he will be tired after working a double
CJ- for some reason I thought you were enjoying working on the embroidery, or at least I hope you are! It sounds like a fun project, a combination of both embroidery and quilting…whatever you are working on, I hope you have a great project to keep you busy and happy this wintery weather weekend, and I hope you do not get a lot of snow!! I wonder with the sweet dreams quilt if the right border will pull it all together for you?
Ruth, cannot imagine a C2C graph afghan where bobbins would be needed to keep the colors straight. Think that would drive me nuts….and I might not be very happy doing that. I do not blame you for not being interested in doing a project with such intricate color changes. Regarding wind, I know that when I walk down my street there is a portion of it that is always colder with a breeze. Makes no sense…but I do understand how terrain can make a difference.
So I started using the walking foot, and think I will rip out the 3 short rows I did to change the stitch size and thread color. I think it will look better. Not sure if I will do anything other than rip out the small amount of stitching this evening. I sew better in daylight and as its getting toward the end of the day I would rather work on the machine then.
Hope everyone has a good evening. Ginny

Sue, it's good to see you here. I'm sorry to hear that your hubby's daughter and her family have covid. Same in my family. My son, his wife and 4 of his 8 children have it right now. I don't know if they have omicron variant but I would think so. They're all feeling a lot better. One of the things ds experienced with it was severe low back pain which is now gone. The helper you had seemed to have a lot of issues. Hopefully you'll be able to find one more like J. He seemed to not only be reliable but went the extra mile as well.
Ginny, I'm sorry to hear that you will have snow after all. I'll be praying for safe travel to and from work for your son. He has one of the jobs where they can't just close down and allow all the employees to stay home unfortunately. How do you like working with the walking foot other than feeling you need to make different size stitches?
I hope that you and CJ don't get much snow. I saw a map today that showeed snow in Connecticut and the rest of New England. Several places in CT may have up to 30 inches of snow.
I did some cooking and baking which included more of the walnut bars, which is a pecan bar recipe, and made some stuffed jalapeno's for dh. That always seemed to me that it's more of a summer food but also for snacking during football games. Dh doesn't care for football
I started on crocheting some doll clothes for my dgds' dolls.I'm working on a set that the author of the pattern called a sleeper but to me it looks more like a more fancy dress. It has what she calls a diaper cover in the set. I also made a pair of long pants and am working on a blanket for the larger doll so it will be pretty much baby blanket size as the doll is 18 inches long and chubby.
CJ I hope you're having a good day and enjoying some crafting.

Well, I have a response and then the web site froze and its lost.
Ruth, well if DH likes those stuffed jalapeno’s then you are wonderful for making them for him. (I dislike spicy foods and am always surprised when people like foods like that). Wonder how many batches of the walnut/pecan bars you have made??? Such an easy recipe which tastes good also. Glad you are able to find some good directions for crocheted doll clothes. I hope that the directions are good and easy to follow.
Looks like I will be getting about 6 inches of snow. Its a steady snowfall right now….small flakes but not falling heavily. Thanks for the prayers for DS. He did get home last night, and had to get up early this am to go back to work. He drove his car and not my 4WD vehicle….but I pray that the roads will be ok for him when he is headed home later today.
I had a walking foot for my singer which I did use ma few times. I remember not being terribly impressed with it. The husky walking foot is impressive….I love it and will be using it for this play mat. I did get the 3 short rows taken out last night, and will get back to work on the play mat in a little while. I am also changing thread for it, I am not happy with solid red on the top and will be using a sulky variegated thread (hope I have enough of that!).

Quiet here but sometimes Saturdays are…
Think 6 inches of snow is a good estimate for what we got..it is a light fluffy snow and was pretty easy to take care of. Unfortunately the snow blower cut out and I had to shovel. But its done and I am back in my warm home.
Got some housework done this am- wiped down the kitchen cabinets, did a load of laundry and actually cleaned behind the refrigerator. I did get to work on the play mat and got the quilting done in one direction. Will get started on the other direction, then trim it and put the binding on. Such fun…and yes I am a big fan of the walking foot. It made the job much easier.

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad to hear your heater was installed and you're enjoying. I'm also glad your snow was the powdery kind, sorry you had to shovel it. Hope you were able to get some more quilting done on the play mat. The variegated thread sounds like it will work well. I've gotten used to using a walking foot when I machine quilt and fortunately the ones I have work alright. Ruth - Your cooking and baking sounds good and the doll's clothes sound cute, hope you are enjoying making them. Sue - I'm sorry you've lost your help again. I hope that your family will recover from covid soon and that you and DH stay well. I'm sure those dogs are great company for you Phyl - I hope you are doing well. We had about 2 inches or so of snow here, and it was the powdery kind too. It was cold and windy here today, but sunny. I swept off the steps and sidewalk but I'm going to let the sun melt the snow off the cars. I finished the Snowflake quilt yesterday (picture below) and I'm happy with it. I did end up having to rip out several seams to get it assembled correctly. The white fabric has a snowflake pattern on it. And I pulled some more fabrics and I think I will try a second Sweet Dreams quilt for Pat Sloan's quilt along. I really want to make one the way the actual pattern is written for. The lighthouse one I'm making will be using panels, so it won't look exactly like the quilt she has designed. Once I make the 4 blocks I need to catch up I'll see if I want to continue. I'll add a picture of my 4 lighthouse blocks and also the fabric I'm using for an extra quilt. Hope you are all staying warm and getting to do some crafting. Take care

Ginny, I'm glad the snow, despite being six inches deep, was easy to take care of. Sorry about the snow blower messing up again. You got your walkiing in there though I'm sure. I'm also glad the walking foot worked well for you. Sometime I may actually try mine. It sounds like you got a lot accomplished today. CJ, I'm glad that you only got a couple inches and your's was easy to take care of also. We had snow day before yesterday and I'm doing the same as you in letting the sun (and the wind) clear off the snow. I love the snowflake block. I really like the others too but the colors..blue and white...really appealed to me. I also like those two grey fabrics that are in the lower pictures. I cleaned my kitchen today too. Wiped down some of the cabinet doors but no the whole things. I do have to get my dh to pull out the fridge someday so I can clean under and behind it. So those spaces are not nice and clean like Ginny's. Last night I finished that doll outfit I mentioned and this morning took a picture of it to send to my dgd. I took it with my phone and really don't know how to move it from there to an email. I know there's got to be a better way than I use because other people take pictures and post them immediately online while I go throught several steps. I'll have to consult my computer expert when I get to INdiana. I don't even know how to answer a call on that phone.Luckily I never get calls on it. I do know roughly how to receive and read texts. I've done that a couple times.Anyway I started a c2c blanket. Not the dino one. I thought I had lost the dino graph pattern but found the picture again and found that the designer was just telling everyone she was working on it and it would be published soon. plain c2c is so easy and fast that I might get the blanket done today

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today It's a cold, sunny day here, but the wind died down from yesterday. Ruth - I'm glad you finished the doll outfit and hope you get the C2C blanket done too. I hope you can get some help with the pictures on your phone. I know the way I do it is probably much harder than I need it to be, but I'm used to it now. I finished the 4 blocks for the Sweet Dreams quilt along, so now I'm caught up and it will only be 2 blocks each Wednesday through May (picture below). I didn't have a chance to use the dark gray fabric, but I hope to put it in a few upcoming blocks. This quilt has a lot of blocks, so I can even wait and use it for some of the outer blocks, and I think I'm going to have to incorporate some other fabrics too. I just had one more thing I wanted to get done this month and that is to make some string blocks. I've never made them before but I have an idea for what I want to do and I plan to use old telephone book pages to sew them onto. I've already sorted them by color, so I'm hoping I can get the red ones done by tomorrow since it will be the last day of the month for the color "red" for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Take care everyone and I hope you are staying warm and your weather is not too bad

They are, as usual, very pretty blocks. It's going to be a great quilt. The string block project sounds interesting. I never knew there was a "thing" where you sewed quilt blocks onto telephone book pages. I hope your weather is ok too. It's fairly warm here and melting the snow and tomorrow will also be warm but then.....
In making these doll blankets I'm trying to use up old baby yarn. I have a lot of pink skeins and none of them are the same shade of pink. It's amazing to me that there are so many shades available and I seem to have one of each. So I'm nearly done with the increase side of this c2c and will have to use either white or some other choice of color to finish it.I did find a really pretty variegated yarn in my stash that would go with it nicely but I think I want to save that to make a blanket for a real baby. I did underestimate the time it would take me to make this so, as you see, it's only half done and I hope to finish it sometime today though. Probably will finish it while watching football. Right now I'm going to go into my craft room again to see what I can find that will work for this blanket

Happy Sunday!!!
CJ the blocks are so very pretty- the red blocks for the rainbow scrap challenge. I really like them. And the snowflake quilt is stunning, simple and elegant.
Ruth - yes there is an art to getting pictures to post or send and depending upon the operating system can be a. It complicated. Hope that you can get help figuring it all out. And yes there are so many different pinks- some shades go in and out of style too. So strange
Tomorrow is Monday:)
I did finish all the quilting on the play mat - later on this week I will trim it and try to figure out getting the binding done
Got a cold walk in today…
