Ruth, I actually watched no football yesterday (other than a few minutes of the earlier game) as I realized that I just needed to relax and would only be frustrated by watching the games. So I finished watching a movie I had partially recorded . A much more civilized evening for me. I did finish making the quilt sandwich for the play mat, now have to get it set up for quilting on the machine and figure out how to use my new walking foot. The first part of this week is a bit busy, but it slows down toward the end. DD has asked me to watch the two younger little ones on Saturday (she will take the 2 older kids) as she has a funeral to attend to…as much as I love the little ones I need my time off
See ya later! Hope everyone is warm, healthy and safe….and getting some crafting in!

All i watched was those last few minutes of the Rams game and then I did watch the Bills game. I didn't expect that they would win and they didn't but those last two minutes were interesting.
I did get some crocheting done yesterday. I've got a ways to go to finish this shaw
Ginny, I'm glad you got the quill sandwiched and wish you luck on the use of the walking foot
Gotta go but will bbl

Survived a day of babysitting…with 3 wonky little ones. They were actually pretty good for me. Hope everyone had a good day.

Ruth, glad you are getting some work done on the shawl. Little by little it all gets done, right?
I will watch this super bowl, well maybe. Depends upon which teams make it. I am having a hard time getting excited about any of the teams at the moment, so I could end up just wanting another team not to win, instead of a certain team winning. We shall see…a lot of football has to be played before there are teams for the super bowl.

Ginny, I would think that KC would beat the Bengals so they would then be in the Super Bowl. I think that the Rams and 49'ers won in the NFC so whichever one wins that championship game will play KC or the Begals...so there are two games this coming weekend then the probowl which I never watch then the next week the Super Bowl. For about 3 years or maybe 4 I didn't watch any football. Mostly because of the failure of players standing for the flag and secondly because I wasn't interested in any team. I don't really care who wins the Rams/49'er game except I would kind of like Rams to win because Mathew Stafford has played a long time and has never been in a playoff, championship game nor a Super Bowl. He played for the Lions for years and of course they never did very well.
I'm glad the babysitting went ok for you. As you said, we love our grandchildren but sometimes need some "me" time.
CJ, I agree with Ginny. You should hang one of your wall hangings. They're so beautiful so you should have them where you see them all the time. And I love you you made those blocks you posted yesterday. I especially like the top one and I think it's the second from the bottom that is my second favorite.
I thought I did something horrible to my laptop. The letter L key came off. I found out that you can just snap it back in place so all is well there.

Good morning!! CJ- ok so here we are decorating your home….ha ha ha….not sure if you have plaster or sheet rock walls. If you have sheet rock, its super easy to push a straight pin into them (through a quilt) and it leaves next to no mark. An easy way to hang a smaller piece. Perhaps I can inspire you to make some smaller wall hangings to represent each holiday or season and you could rotate them throughout the year. A nice cheery way to decorate. But you probably have done that already (made all those holiday/seasonal quilts). Forgive me for stepping out of line….but you do such lovely work, it would be nice for you to enjoy it!! Just heard that they are predicting another storm for the east coast. No details just yet, but I heard the words mid Atlantic and Northeast mentioned….sounds like you and me. Guess we will just have to keep our eyes on the weather.
Ruth, pretty much agree with your football analysis. I have a personal reason why I would like to see KC not make the SB, but its kind of a dumb reason. Looking at the remaining teams I do prefer either the Rams or the 9’ers…..but am not enthusiastic about either. The half time show is not music to my taste (so I will not watch that). Just gotta hope that the commercials are good, if I chose to watch. How is that shawl coming along???
In a waiting game for the installation of the heater downstairs. Wondering if my plumber will make it here. He is the first step of the process.
See ya later, and I hope everyone slept well and has a good day

CJ, yes I guess we're overstepping in telling you what to do with your house but I agree with Ginny in that those seasonal ones would definitely be a great choice if you decided to hang quilts. And the straight pin idea is a great one if you have the right walls. Dh the other day brought out some hangers that are very much like that only larger and strong. They easily go through our walls and don't leave a noticeable hole. I've never seen those before. I got a little off topic because you wouldn't be able to ;use them for quilts unless you put a wooden thing thru a channel you would have to make on the back of the quilt or however it is that people hang them but these things are very easy to use. No hammer needed.
Speaking of wall hangings I have seen quite a few crochet ones that I would love to make but haven't got to them yet.
Ginny, I hope the plumber has been there and completed his step in that process. I dislike waiting for people to arrive. I dont' imagine anyone likes to do it either.
It snowed here again. At least there's no wind.....YET.I need to go out a couple times this week and next week also so I hope this snow melts and doesn't get drifted by wind

Gee, more snow Ruth?? Have you gotten a lot of it? Ruth you should consider making a crocheted wall hanging, if you find one that makes you happy. You make so much for others, but we never hear of you making anything for yourself. Yes, I have seen those hangers. And if CJ made hanger brackets or the channel it would be super easy for her to hang one of her lovely quilts. If it was a small quilt. The straight pins would work if she used several.
I am very disappointed, the plumber stood me up again. (Gee, I only tried to schedule this job in December!) This is my gf’s son and he is notorious for being unreliable because he’s is so busy. I am so thankful that I did not even think of using him when the heat came out of Ds’s bedroom.. Now the installation of the heater and the propane tank must be rescheduled. I have waited 12 weeks since I ordered this heater….it just seems to pathetic to be stood up by someone who does not manage his time well. If he was not able to take the job, I wish he would have been honest with me.

Ginny, I'm sorry you were stood up by the person that was supposed to be there doing some work. He sounds like a person that definitely cannot be relied on. Maybe in your case he thought he could get away with not showing up when he was supposed to due to being the son of your friend. I imagine she is very embarrassed when he doesn't meet his obligations to her friends. 12 weeks is a long time to wait.
In the weather forecast they mentioned that we would get about 1.5 inches of snow but we got a little more than that. Not a huge abount though. maybe 3 or 4 inches.

Hello Ginny - I'm sorry the plumber didn't show up and now everything else is delayed Can you find someone else or is he still going to do the work at some point? Hope that all works out for you. Even the companies I hire for things aren't reliable anymore, it's really sad. I hope you don't get a lot of bad weather this weekend. Ruth - I hope you don't get any wind and I' glad you were able to fix your laptop easily. I think today was the warmest it's supposed to be this week - in the low 40s, tomorrow is supposed to be really cold. I've been seeing the reports of the snow coming later this week. They don't seem to have a final forecast yet. I went out this morning to gas up my car and pick up a few things in the stores, so I don't have to go anywhere else this week. Hopefully this snow will bypass me like the last one did. I started working on my Snowflake quilt yesterday and have all the fabric cut and ready to piece. I hope to finish that the next few days. Tomorrow is the next Sweet Dreams block, and hopefully it will be easy and one that I can fussy cut a lighthouse into. Here's a link to see the Snowflake quilt, I'm using a soft powder blue fabric and a white fabric that has snowflakes on it: www.quiltingdaily.com/product/nordic-flake-pattern-download/Thanks for your thoughts on me hanging quilts in the house. I'm sure I could do it, but I try not to mess much with the walls in this 1930s house, I'm always afraid they'll crumble behind the wallpaper I seriously have heard some noises like that sometimes Take care

And my crafting for the day might very well be a repair to a stuffed animal that is VERY dear to DGD#2.

CJ- they make those command strips (which do not damage walls or finishes) I wonder if you could use them to hang a quilt? And even a small nail hole is easy to repair with a finger full of spackle- you quilt so much I would want to see the fruits of my labor…..or another option for a larger quilt would be to pick up a quilt rack?? No holes in the wall! I made one a few months ago and enjoy that I can redecorate by changing what is hanging on the rack. (Yes I am a pain in the neck!!!). Sorry you are also in for colder weather and possibly stormy weather too. Good thing that you filled up the car….I will do so for my car tomorrow.
My latest forecast for Saturday is 3-5 inches of snow.
I am waiting to hear back from the plumber tonight. I asked him for a “reliable date”- honestly I want to make sure he does this job- because he was the one who actually told me to have the stove installed this way. Just so disapppointed….but I guess looking at all the other work that was done in that room which went off like clockwork, then I suppose I should be thankful for that. I did really want to enjoy that room for the end of football season and get some use of it during winter. That looks unlikely now and I figure he will offer me some date weeks away. My daughter has used this plumber before also- he has done the same thing to her. I will say that this is the last time I will use him and cannot tolerate this level of inconvenience. The neighbor (who also is a plumber) was insanely prompt with the issues downstairs when my house was being waterproofed and very respectful of me.

well it's quite late in the day...4pm here. Dh and I went out and got 4 things from my to do list done. Now to start the February list. When we left the wind was blasting but in town there was no wind. Came back home to wind again. I'm sure everyone is tired of me talking about wind but it really can be a huge problem. I also stopped at the mailbox for the first time in probably a month so had a lot of junk mail to sort through and cut off the addresses from
Last evening I got the butterly triangle prayer scarf done. It was intended to be a large shawl and called for a lot of yarn yardage but, as with the one for dgd, I think that this one will be much more useful as a scarf that's midway between shawl size and scarf size. So next some doll clothes but most will be made after I get there and have their dolls to use as a guide. Some things don't need to be an exact fit either though. I saw a nice c2c simple graphgan with a dino that I might make for my two youngest grandsons rather than the spider man blankets I was thinking of making. I've never done a c2c graphgan so this will be a learning experience.
CJ, I'm glad that ;you were able to get out and get your car filled with gas and get the groceries you needed to carry you through the potentially snowy weather. And yes since your house is that old the walls may be plaster and could fall into crumbles if you hung things. A guilt rack, as Ginny mentioned, would be a good thing to have.
Ginny, I think you're entirely right in your decision to not use that same man again for your projects. We do like to help out our friends and their families but if that family member is not reliable then you just have to give up on them.

Good evening Well today ended up being a much longer day than I thought it would be.
Ruth, absolutely not problem with you having an issue with the wind. It sounds like its a fairly common occurrence in your area. I just checked weather…and there are at least 2 days of high wind predicted for your general area. It must be windy enough that it really impacts your weather. If its super cold- well super cold and wind are not a good combination and make for some very uncomfortable times. Plus it interferes with your wood stove use. (Gotta admit, using a wood burner when its really cold outside is so comforting!!). In the warmer weather, I bet it dries out the soil and makes for some dusty weather….so while I might not get it, I think it makes sense for you to comment on it. Now I learned something today, never heard of a graphgan until today. With a cute Dino on it, eh? Sounds like a really cute pattern and I bet the little boys will love it. Hope its easy to make also.
Got some work done on the embroidery today…which I just love to do. Its so easy to pick up and work on for a few minutes. Very satisfying. This morning, bright and early, I texted my friends son to ask him when he can fit me in his schedule. He indicated 2/2 - next Wednesday. I will believe it when I see it- but hope that it works out. I called the stove installer and am shocked that they will install anyway tomorrow. They will bring their own propane tank to hook it up to to verify that the unit works. I hope that the install goes well. So then the only hold up will be this plumber. In a way it might be easier that the stove is in first so he can hook up to it. Then all I am waiting for is the gas tank delivery, which I am reasonably sure will not be too difficult to schedule.
They have modified the weather forecast a bunch of times today. Right now, it sounds like not much snow at all and perhaps some wind. I saw not too much either for CJ’s general area…so that is good news for both of us.
Hope everyone had a good day!! Ginny
