So here we are 1/6 th of the way (almost)) through the year. Didn’t the year just change to 2022?
The luncheon yesterday was catered (cold cuts, salads, rolls….very simple lunch fare) by the family who organized the party. Think since covid church has been a bit hesitant to have covered dish dinners (which are fun, aren’t they?). Maybe this spring /summer they will be back. I am hearing that some are considering the pandemic over- hope so!!!
BBL to see how everyone is doing G

I think the worst of covid is past. I had a bit of a scare on Friday. My outside contacts have been minimal, but last week I was out in the outside on three different days. The supermarket, insurance agency, and car dealership. The supermarket was the only place where masks were worn by employees (and me).
I was cold and very out of sorts on Friday. Dizzy, a bit nauseated, congested. I went to bed just a few minutes after hb and slept about ten hours. Felt fine the next day.
We still have omicron running around. I don't need to go a lot of places, so I'll continue being cautious, take precautions as they seem to be needed.
Ginny, You are right. I need more help with housework than I do with caregiving. I'll continue to look.

Sue, unless others are wearing N95 masks (or KN95) masks and using them properly, masks are useless. So your exposure Friday really did not amount to much. I am glad that you have not presented with any covid symptoms, and Omicron is pretty minimal. Fatigue is a big complaint from Omicron. So glad to hear that you are feeling better! Probably the best precaution you can take is to avoid crowds and practice good hygiene/hand washing. My whole theory was that if you got any help in the house (whether it be housework or help with Dh) that it would be beneficial. Hope that you can find help with housekeeping- and that perhaps that can be expanded into some help with your Dh. But for now, even housework help would be nice..
Busy day, and I have study tonight. I won’t have any time for crafting tonight, that is for sure. So I am counting on each of you to get some crafting in for me!
See ya tomorrow Ginny

I have to agree with those that consider the pandemic over. It seems like covid now is more like the flu season we have each year. I no longer bother with a mask. I fee they're pretty useless. Now just because I do that and say those things it doesn't mean that I'm recommending that others do the same. We each have to make our own decisions about it. I don't go out often at all and when I do I do try to stay a distance away from those around me but yes. ..most of the masks people use are useless especially when they don't wear them correctly or keep touching them. And, as Ginny said, omicron usually only leads to a mild flu like and short illness.
My crafting for today was organizing what papers I have to take and where I have to take them. I got them together the other day but today made envelopes and marked on them where that envelope needed to go. I then measured my doll so that I can more accurately make clothing for her and hopefully those items of clothing will also fit at least one of the dgds' dolls.
Have a great evening everyone.

I read a massive directive from a local school district regarding masks. Of course it said that sensitivity needs to be used for those who still want to wear masks. i figure there will still be parents who want their kids masked up and some of those kids will rip the masks off the minute they are out of their parents eyes. Not much anyone can do about that.
Ruth, glad you can get your paperwork organized….it always looks so good when its all in envelopes or folders. Hope you can get some crocheting in today!!
CJ- how are you doing?
See ya later! Ginny

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well. It got up into the low 50s today and sunny, so not bad weather. Hope your weather is good. I haven't done any quilting for the last few days. I'm thinking about whether I want to participate in the block a day for March quilt along. I did pull some fabrics so maybe I'll feel like working with them in the next few days. I want to do a test block before I decide. I went out and ran some errands today, so I was glad to get those done. Otherwise, not much going on - which is fine Hope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

good to hear from you CJ- I figure that fabric being set aside and waiting to be cut will be calling your name shortly- and you will be participating in the March quilt along. Of course, I could be very wrong….but think you have a great idea to make a test block and see if you want to proceed.
Just got off the phone with a friend/former coworker whose wife still has family in the Ukraine. His mother in law is elderly- and he has two nephews who are in their mid twenties who will be forced to fight if they have not volunteered. So sad, and i have told him I will pray for his wife and her family (his wife is here, thank goodness).
Long day for me, so I will not get to craft today- but will get my crafting in by visiting here.

CJ, I, too, think it's a great idea to make a block and see if you like it. I imagine you have times when you look at a fabric and wonder why you ever bought it. There are probably other times when you find one in your stash and wonder why you haven't used it yet because it's so beautiful.
Ginny, there was a woman in one of the crochet groups the other day who lives in the Ukraine. All this seems so much more real when you have contact with someone who is right there. I've been praying for her and will add your friend's family to my list.
The only crafting I've done so far today is get together the yarn that I'm going to take to the car dealer with me tomorrow. It probably won't be a real long wait...I hope...but I'll have some time to work on my project. The other day I made the cutest little hat for the doll. I just made it up as I went along. Last night I worked on what the pattern writer called a diaper cover. It's different than most in that it looks more like panties which is what I usually make for the dolls. It's early done and I'll finish that tonight.
The so called president is talking now and Nancy is bobbing up and down unlike what she did when President Trump was speaking. I thought that was very disrespectful. It doesn't matter that political party you are a member of you still need to show a little respect and not be childish as she was in tearing up her copy of the speech. I'm not listening but dh is and is commenting. I'm going to look for a pattern or two to work on tomorrow

Ruth, I chose to read last night and finish a biography that Jane had given me. I did watch literally about 3 seconds of the speech and realized it would just annoy and frustrate me. Oh my- I did not realize you had to go the car dealership today. Hopefully that visit will go smoothly and whatever work your car is there for, that its not too pricey and is done correctly. Glad you got your hands on some yarn….bet you felt better just setting up your yarn needs for today. Rather like Cj setting fabric out to see if it inspires her to work with it.
Bill (my friend whose wife is Ukrainian) tries to speak to her mom daily…I just cannot imagine how she must feel and pray for her family.
Another online friend, my quilting guru just went through her stash of fabrics and eliminated fabrics that no longer are to her taste. Yes, its something that happens to all of us, our taste changes. Guess I have to go through what I have here and see if I can also get rid of some fabric.
Hope to finish that PMQ block this afternoon. BBL Ginny

I'm sitting her waiting for time to leave for the car dealer. Dh isn't going along so the house is safe.
Ginny, have a good visit with your friend as you walk. I hope you can get the block done. Do you just make one of this block? A few years ago when I used to attend Caps for Kids meetings I took a bunch of fabric. The meetings are held at the senior center so a lot of people would be able to see the fabric and choose what they wanted. I still have a lot. I also managed to part with a lot of my yarn that was mostly yarn that was trendy at the time such as Fun Fur, ribbon yarn, and ladder yarn. I still have a little of that. I also have a bit of that sashay yarn. Remember those thin ruffled scarves? I'm going to take it with me to visit son's family. The girls will like working with that. I also have a really large box filled with Red ;Hears team spirit yarn that I bought only because it was reduced to fifty cents. I don't like it but it does make nice hats to donate and people can pick the hat that has their team colors. I have to get busy and use some of that. And I also have a pretty good sized box of what I call novelty yarn that is various weird yarns. I should donate that too. Some is really pretty but I have no clue of what to use it for.
Ok, I'm going to get busy and get ready to go. See you all later

Hello Ruth - I hope everything goes well with your appointment at the car dealership. Ginny - Hope you are able to finish your block today. Sue - Hope you are well. It's milder here today, in the low 60s, guess springtime weather is on the way. I found some fresh rhubarb in the store yesterday and just bought 2 stalks of it and stewed it with some strawberries to make a sauce. I'm enjoying some of it now with some vanilla yogurt. I have some rhubarb in the freezer that I really need to use since it's getting freezer burn on it, but this fresh looked too good to pass up yesterday. Block #9 for the Sweet Dreams quilt along came out today and it was a nice easy block to put together. We're at the point now where we join these first 9 blocks together and this will be the center of the quilt. I'm posting pictures of my two center portions below. I'm still not sure on participating in the block a day quilt along, but I'm seeing some wonderful blocks posted on the Quilt Along with Pat Sloan webpage, so I might still jump in. These blocks are just finish so big at 12.5 x 15.5 that I wouldn't want to make 30/31 of them since it would be a big quilt. I guess I could just make 16 and make a nice 4 block by 4 block quilt. I'll keep thinking about it. Hope you all get to do some crafting today and that you have a good day. Take care

Hey CJ- both quilts are beautiful!!! I know you have worked hard on them and did a great job with your fabric selection. As you have finally assembled them into finished pieces, well it all makes more sense and the coordination of the fabrics is more evident. Will you continue with the Sweet Dreams quilt and make the border as the design asks for or just make your own pretty border and call it quits there. Gotta favorite out of these two??
Ruth, think its a great idea to take some yarn to your DGD’s and let them pick what they want and make their own project. Wonder if you will ever teach them to crochet and share your love for it. Bet one of them is inspired to do so!!!! Hope the car repair went smoothly…always nice to get that out of the way.
Yes, got a nice long walk in with my friend. So good so see her. I did work on the 2 blocks, and have one minor mistake to correct, but that will not happen today. Just glad those two identical blocks are done and now I am ready for the next shipment of fabric.
I have wasted awhile today getting some bills paid, and now am looking for my small scissors and a booklet I misplaced. The scissors are most likely in one of my project baskets- its a bit challenging when I know grandkids are coming over and I know I need to get sharp objects put away where they cannot find them. That explains the scissors….the booklet will show up- and if I do not find it, its ok.
Might stop back in later….if not see you tomorrow. Ginny

I ended up getting a bit done. I left here early and stopped at WAlmart, then to the food store then across to Wendy's for a little snack before going to the car dealer since I hadn't eaten breakfast. Good thing too because the car dealer always had snack items before but didn't today. There were no surprises this year at the dealer. Last year was rodents chewed my lines which was a fairly costly fix but this year all was well. Afterward I stopped at the Rescue Missions thrift store and found some nice things to buy and then home. On the way I also stopped at the mailbox and I couldn't believe all the junk mail that had already accumulated. CJ, I love the lighthouse block! The other is beautiful also. I think you have a good plan to pick the blocks you want from the block a day challenge and make a quilt to the size you like better. It was low 60's here today too but that will drastically change on Saturday I'll be back later. Have a great evening everyone

Ginny, i didn't see your post on Wed that is right before mine that I posted after coming home from the car dealer. I hope you found the scissors. We always have to worry about sharp objects when small children are going to visit. I'd have to do a massive child proofing job here is little ones were coming over. I hope you find the booklet too. You know how many times I've searched high and low for things and I know you have too including when you were keeping your dd's ring safe and forgot where safe was.
Looks like no one got here today including me. I spent some time cleaning out one of our vehicles. Not the one that I took to the car dealer yesterday. All I had to have done was the oil change and routine inspection and all went well. This evening I got a little diaper cover set done. The hat has little bear ears. The diaper cover I made day before yesterday ended up too large.
I did do some emailing but hadn't got back to the email and found that I have one to respond to but don't like doing that this late as I'm always afraid I'll wake someone. Everyone I email lives in the eastern or central time zone.
Well I'll see you all tomorrow and hope you all get a nice good rest tonight
