Chapter 11:-- When to Stop Losing and Start Maintaining
To me the important point in this chapter is the discussion of the difference between your lowest achievable weight and your lowest maintainable weight. Understanding this can lead to avoiding a lot of grief.
She also mentions how to handle the situation if your goal weight isn't your dream weight:
Continue to enrich your life.
Focus on what you like about your body.
Use, Oh, well.
Focus on how you've improved.
Change your comparison.
Prepare yourself mentally before you weigh yourself.
Accept compliments from others.
Act "as if."

Your point is well taken, Judy, regarding this chapter. I still think about my lowest achievable weight as most desirable on occasion. More often than not, I remind myself that I am doing just fine at my maintenance weight and staying there is a big victory. Oh well is a great response to going down that road of "coulda & shoulda".

This is always a question for me. Right now my goal is sustainable (so far) and not the lowest I've been on a Beck Review, so I'm good.

I've been at my goal weight for over 3 years so I feel that this is my sustainable weight. It's at the top of the WW range for me so I always feel like I should get lower but I'm happy at this weight also.

Good morning,
My achievable weight was 4 pounds above WW goal weight for me. I got a doctor note to raise it. Seems that my easy to maintain weight is 151. That's where it seems to hover when not totally focused on program. It's healthier if I lose back into the 145-147 range. Also free e-tools.
I have not been at goal weight for 2 years. Since my mother fell and passed away. My clothes still fit fine. I do not look like I gained weight. But I want to get back to goal.

I am still working on this my entire life. I don't know why I cannot maintain though I keep getting better at it. My trip did not help because there was food and drink everywhere. I tried to make the best choices most of the time but certainly ate more than I do at home. At least I am able to go right back to plan, pre track etc. Walking for exercise is not a problem and I walked a lot of extra miles on our trip. Marilynn, I totally understand about the clothes fitting and not looking like there is a gain but I know when I get on the scale.

Have done good at my goal weight so far and am happy about that. Also accepted the condition of my body when I got to goal. Realized if I wanted my body to look any better I would have to get my act together and really get into exercise which probably wasn't going to happen so I told myself no complaining. I do work on getting in exercise because of my functionality and my 80-year-old self (almost 70 now).

I have always been in love with a certain number, regardless of what I can do, how I look, how I feel, whether I am healthy. I need to get divorced from number-love and just cherish what I am. Since what I am is about 2 lb above the top of the WW range, I am doomed to continue to strive to lose those 2 lb. (This sounds like a country song.)
I think if I were easily within my WW range, I would quit paying attention. Then where would I be!!!!
I had fasting labs last week and saw my doctor yesterday. My labs were all good. Thyroid was good. Cholesterol (both LDL and HDL) was good. Blood glucose was good. Blood pressure was good. I feel good. So I really have nothing to complain about. Other than 2 lb.
Cherish what I am: I AM A THIN PERSON!!

There's a four pound difference between the two. Judy thanks for your help nearly a year and a half ago for helping me see the difference!
I forget how to "follow" people - how lame

When I started WW Online 4 years ago I thought there was no way I would ever want to or get to the upper end of my WW set goal.I set 155 as my personal goal.My former Dr told me I would be healthy at 200 lbs but I wanted to get out of the plus sizes.I am not quite 1# under the upper end of my WW set goal and I need to learn how to maintain and not to lose anymore.I am in a size I never thought I would wear again. In fact when I wore this size before I weighed 125 but was only that size for a very short amount of time.I want to stay there now and I don't want to be in a smaller size but I don't want to gain either so it's going to take some getting used to.

@beckyw2016 I know you're not asking for advice but I would lose 2-3 more pounds to give yourself a little breathing room. It seems most people float back up a little over the first few months of maintenance. So you may settle in a few pounds higher. Just a thought.
As an online member can you ever get LT status? I'm not sure I'd want to continue paying them if I was at goal and not able to go to meetings. Have you tried tracking on free sites? (MFP, Lose it, etc.) That might serve you well too as well as the app that allows you to chose a WW plan and track with it. I think it's called Itrackbites. I have heard positive things about it. If I ever lose the free etools those are things I would look at.
Good luck! You've done an outstanding job! And, we'll be here for support too!

Thanks linda72.No I can never achieve LT again as an online only member.I can't get the app on my phone for itrackbites and I have tried MFP for a long time but I would rather count points than calories.I don't mind paying the $20/month b/c starting Jan I will be able to go to Curves for free with my insurance and it costs more than WW Online. Thank you for your non advice.I know you really weren't giving advice but I never thought I would get this low and DH really doesn't want me to lose any more at my age(I'm a young 62).I weighed 135 when we married 32 yrs ago and I never dreamed I would weigh 5 lbs more 32 yrs later so this is a bonus for me.Right now I'm not even eating 30 SP unless we eat out.I eat when I'm hungry and don't believe in using points just to get them all in esp with my IBS acting up lately. I didn't take it as you giving advice.I can use all the advice I can get in how to maintain though.
