We are a group of like-minded people that gather to discuss a host of topics from weight loss, to current events. Our thread celebrates liberal diversity, welcomes new friends, and respects all opinions. We count everything from calories to points but, we never count our chickens before they've hatched! * * * Triple Checked to make sure I was on the right board this time! * * * HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO

I'm sure Republicans are happy with themselves this morning, and the paths we are now set on to make women a liability to the insurance companies (damn women insist on getting pregnant, having babies, developing GYN problems and breast cancer. We can't have it!). Get comfortable sneakers because we're also back on the trail towards another Wall Street collapse and crippling recession. Enjoy it Republicans. Wallow in it and high-five each other like your smirking, foul leaders and your bloated sack of evil president. Sorry Joyce it is hard for me to be happy today.

Good morning everyone!
Tweety finally got something right! He said Australia has a better healthcare system than we do. So why is he throwing us all under the bus while praising a one payer system that actually works well, but Republicans won't even consider for the rest of us. Of course, those people voting on healthcare do already have great healthcare. Each one of us is paying for it, including those people who can't go to the doctor themselves because they don't have the money.
Bernie's response to Tweety's praise of Australian healthcare, "Well Mr President, you're right, in Australia and every other major country on Earth they guarantee health care to all people. They don't throw 24 million people off health insurance. So maybe when we get to the Senate we should start off with looking at the Australian health care system."
But as Pat said last night, I'm expect McConnell to ram a rules change through the Senate, by-pass hearings from everyone opposed to this bill such as the AMA, etc. Make a few meaningless tweaks and push it through. If that happens though, and it happens soon enough for Joe Blow on the street to have the opportunity to realize his healthcare is gone, the Rs are going to pay dearly for this in 2018. Nancy Pelosi is right that Republicans are branded with this now. So Trumpcare supporters who don't have Congressional health insurance better be down on their knees praying hard that no one they love gets sick.
As for the fiasco about allowing religious organizations to promote political candidates without consequence, we have already seen a lot of that in the past several years. Now it is only going to get worse. Republicans think this is going to be a good thing for them, but when people realized how badly they've been screwed over on the healthcare mess they may find it works in the opposite direction.

Good Morning...
Nope haven't heard a peep from Anne. Maybe family visiting?
I had to laugh at the Australia comment too. My gosh, what an idiot we have in the WH that doesn't even know how hypocritical his statement is, especially after House voted for worst bill ever. Or one of the worst! Love the fact the School House Rock video on how a law becomes a Bill has resurfaced & is all over the Internet . I think tho it may be above Tweet's IQ level.
I've been decluttering yard decorations, planters, yard tools etc & selling on our local Classified sales. Making some flower money & cleaning & organizing storage areas at same time. Feels good. The older I get, the more I want to simplify & declutter but sometimes it's hard. I get attach to stuff. Especially old collectible stuff from another era. But it's time. Hate tho, that time seems to pass more quickly the older I get. SIGH!
Have a HEALTHY day.

Must keep blood pressure down so problem won't open link---at least for now. I figure I have enough "pre-existing conditions " just being female that I'm doomed. Heard that Maryland's BC/BS upped their premiums 50% overnight? Seriously?
And since when don't we take care of others? This I've got mine, screw you attitude is an abomination and will be the end of life as we know it if future generations are brought up on it.

pbnj, I agree, and I am a firm believer in "Yes, I am my brother's keeper." That doesn't mean I think my "brother" shouldn't take responsibility for his life; but, it means I have a responsibility to help him in any way I can, and yes, even carry him if he is unable to carry himself just as he has that same responsibility for me.

From Robert Reich . . .
The 2 biggest lies at the heart of Trumpcare are:
1. It covers people with preexisting health conditions. It doesn’t. Trumpcare sets aside $138 billion over the next decade to cover such people. But the estimated cost of really doing so ranges from $150 billion to $330 billion. Worse yet, states could use the money to offset the health insurance costs of healthy people who buy insurance as individuals -- which is what the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office expects they'll do.
2. It’s a healthcare bill. It’s not. It's a trillion dollar tax cut for the richest 2 percent that's paid for with a trillion dollars of health-care cuts for the poor and middle class.
In reality, Trumpcare is a massive transfer from Americans who are poorer and sicker to those who are richer and healthier. Not being rich is the ultimate preexisting condition.

Andy Borowitz... People of France, please don't elect your Nazi. Trust me, it's not as much fun as it looks.
