It's Monday, I think Kathy and Liz are both off this week so I hope everyone is getting some R&R.
Linda, very nice new picture. Where is that from? How is your storm? You definitely experienced a houseful at your brother's. Did you leave Micki at home? I know Phoebe would not have liked all those people and dogs. After all that activity, I know you were happy to get home. Too much chocolate gives me problems, too. How are you feeling today?
I think you are right about the migraine weather, Chele. My headache finally broke on Saturday but I am still having some drainage. Are you feeling better? How was your Christmas? Did you have a quiet one at home?
Kathy, how were things with your family?
Liz, I guess you, Gary, and the pups are home. Good that you didn't have any inclement weather to drive through. We got into the 60s yesterday but it was cloudy for most of the day. But very unseasonal. How are the back, hip, and leg doing after all the car time?
Becky, I hope the head and tummy are better. I'm glad that you had a chance to get together with another couple and celebrate. Did you get to walk? Is Curves open today?
Things weren't particular good here. I had a rough Saturday night and then Phoebe got up at 4 and Dale, who had said the night before that he intended to get up with her if she woke up early, acted like he didn't hear her so I had to get up with her, which I was not prepared to do. She was a royal pain most of the day (when she wasn't asleep) and would pitch a fit any time either of us tried to leave the room to do something. So we were pretty much held captive by a dog that we needed to keep quiet. Neither of us is used to that much sitting around and I think it wears you out. Dale got everything on his Christmas list and more but I feel like I got grinched. Dale asked for a list, which I gave him, and he failed to see that there were 4 items on the list. He bought the first one and a couple more things off the same website and quit shopping. So I got a hooded sweatshirt (which was on my list but was the cheapest of all the items), a head band, and a pair of tacky earrings. I'm not sure why I bothered taking time to make the list. I guess I'll go out and buy what I wanted myself, which kind of defeats the purpose of spending time making a list after being asked for it.Then I had an attack of reflux after I got into bed last night even though I didn't think I overdid at dinner. So, all in all, I would rank this Christmas as in the top 5 worst for me and am looking forward to moving past it and forgetting it ever happened. Sorry to hear about George Michael's passing as well.
What does everyone have planned for the week? I'm looking at getting back to the Ayurvedic eating plan that emphasizes seasonal whole foods that should work well in conjunction with Intuitive Eating because it's not actuallyl a "diet". It is built around 3 seasons and says it's kind of like doing Atkins in the winter, Ornish in the spring, and Fit for Life in the summer, so there is a good bit of variety to it, which may be a good thing for me. There are some similarities with Fuhrman, so recipes will be easier to plan, but I just have to concentrate on what's in season, which may be a bit easier now that I am hooked up with the CSA,but I don't know when they will start offering produce again.
I hope everyone has an enjoyable Monday.

Karen,Thanks for the start.I'm glad your headache broke Saturday.I have been having headaches also with the sinus drainage plus another bout of IBS.I felt miserable yesterday even though I didn't overeat. The tummy is still upset and I woke up with another h/a.It's gone now since I took my last Aleve.I don't feel uncomfortable after I eat but when I start drinking water it seems like my tummy feels more and more bloated so I haven't gotten in my normal amount of water.Yes thank goodness today is a Curves day.I may start skipping my walks on the days I go to Curves b/c my knee has started hurting again.I was able to walk after our friends left.I'm sorry to hear about your bad weekend with Phoebe.Hopefully she will start feeling better soon.Isn't it funny how men supposedly can't hear the dogs when they said they would get up with them?Kenneth says he doesn't hear some of the sounds Scooter makes either.I think the hot sauce on my scrambled egg/eggbeaters gave me reflux this morning. It never bothers me but maybe with the IBS something got messed up.I know I didn't overeat yesterday b/c I only used 21 SP and I also tracked on MFP and it was less than 1000 calories and it was all healthy food.I just didn't feel like eating very much.I'm sorry you didn't get what you had on your list for Christmas. We didn't end up making lists this yr but Kenneth got me a total surprise.I was really proud of him.
I am hoping Curves will be open on Friday so I don't have to rush my workouts in consecutive days.I like more veggies than I used to but I could never be a vegetarian. My new veggie fave is grape tomatoes so I am actually getting in 5 different veggies in my salads now.It sure tastes better with a good variety but I still like some kind of animal protein in my salads.I hope to get this IBS over with quickly this week so I won't be this miserable all week. The scale was up but it's so wonky.I always get on it twice to make sure it weighs the same thing it did the first time so the 2nd time it said I weighed 117????I have never weighed 117 in my adult life. The 3rd time it was back up to what it said the 1st time.
Waving to Chele,Liz,Kathy and Linda.Have a good day everyone!

Karen, thanks for the start. Really sorry to hear this wasn't a good Christmas for you. I know you're all going through a lot with Phoebe and that's tough. I would go on a little shopping spree if I were you and just move on from yesterday as you said. Do you think the reflux might have been from stress? Hope you have a better day today. Our Christmas Eve was really nice, but went really late. I didn't get home until after midnight and was really tired. We wound up changing plans for Christmas Day. My BIL's daughter and DH arrived at DS's house with their 2 kids and the little girl was really sick. They had taken her to the emergency room the night before thinking she might have the flu, but they said it was just a bad cold virus. So, DS didn't want me or our DM to get around them and I'm hoping DS doesn't get sick. BIL is already getting over a cold, so doesn't need another one either. DS is not happy with the whole situation and the company is still there today. I had dinner with DM last night and we had a nice evening until she wanted me to fix something on her computer. I should've known better since we were both tired, but I couldn't fix it and the evening ended on a bit of a sour note with both of us frustrated. I went home and watched the Doctor Who Christmas special which cheered me up a bit. I was also sad to hear of George Michael's passing. This year seems like a record one for losing celebrities. No big plans for the week, but hoping to get together with DS if she doesn't get sick. My company didn't have a Christmas party this year and is allowing us to charge up to $100 for a holiday dinner with family. We want to try out a new seafood restaurant and it will be kind of fun to have it paid for. Becky, hope you're feeling better today. What kinds of animal protein do you have in your salads? I sometimes put cheese or eggs in mine, but don't usually add meat. Waving hi to Liz, Chele, and Linda. Hope everyone has a relaxing, stress free day!

Karen we solve the gift issue by getting what we want ahead during the year and wrapping it at Christmas! Bob has such specialized language book interested that he has to do that for me. Sometimes I give him a catalog or web site to order from with appropriate info and sometimes I just shop myself. Funny thing us we often forget by the time we open it! We usually have some small things so we can open something each evening for three days and finish Christmas Eve.
Phoebe must be really traumatized by all the surgery and pain, poor everybody involved,
So nice to get up late on Christmas and not ache from doing too much the night before. First year in 25 we have not had mob for formal sit down eve dinner. made a little prime rib roast and simple sides for us for supper and a strange German trifle of yogurt, sour cream, berry Danish pudding and mini cream puffs ...different. It was on the cover of a German magazine. I can read enough to do recipes. Once was enough!
always feels like time for spring cleaning here after Xmas. I think it is time to pull some dresses I don't wear anymore and take them to consignment when the insanity in stores wears down thisweek.

I like the cut, Becky! Interesting that your discomfort starts after water. I'm glad you liked your total surprise. Are you feeling better now? What was wrong wit your wonky scale? Does it need the batteries replaced? Very odd that it would be so far off.
Kathy, I like the way you think with the shopping spree. I'll give him a little time to redeem himself before I do that. Nice of your company to take you out to dinner in lieu of a Christmas party. Enjoy the seafood restaurant. I hope it's a good one. Is BIL's daughter and family from out of town and did the little girl get sick after they got to DS's house? I hate it for your DS and hope she doesn't catch whatever the girl has. Kid germs in adults who aren't used to them can really be bad. I'm sorry your plans got changed and that you weren't successful with the computer intervention yesterday. Yes, this has been a tough year for celebrities and we still have a few more days left which I hope will be uneventful.
Linda, buy your own and wrap it sounds like a good idea. You're right about Phoebe's being traumatized. Last week was her 5th surgery in 2016. I wish there was another way. I'm glad you had a quiet Christmas. The dessert sounds positively decadent. I can understand why once was enough.
Phoebe slept most of the morning, had a bout of crankiness about an hour ago, and has settled down since. Her bandage came off spontaneously this morning so when she finally got up from her long morning nap, we had to redo the self-adhering wrap so her dressings didn't come off. It's not as colorful as the previous one but it will do the job until we get to her follow up. tomorrow. Laundry day today.
Waving to Chele and Liz. Hope all is well in your worlds.

Liz, I hope the family gathering was nice.
I think my friend passed me her stomach bug. Can't keep anything down today.

Linda, great idea on gifting and everyone winds up happy. We exchange lists, but nobody is obligated to get what's on the list. We usually get some of what's on the lists and some surprises.
Karen, BIL's daughter and family live a couple of hours away and the granddaughter was sick before they came. If she was sick enough to take to the emergency room the night before, I'm thinking they should've postponed the trip and not exposed other people to it. My DM is 87 and she's in good health, but both DS and I didn't think she should get exposed to it. Sounds like maybe Phoebe is improving a bit. She sure has been through a lot this year (and you too).
Chele, I didn't mind the change of plans, but just hope nobody else gets sick. Really sorry to hear you might've gotten a stomach bug and hope you're feeling better soon.
Liz, hope you're having a great time with family.

Kathy,I'm sorry things didn't work out for getting together with DS.That is very generous for your company to give you $100 to use on a meal with family.I'm also sorry things turned sour with your DM.That happens to me when I'm tired or not feeling well too.For lunch I usually have chicken breast tenders grilled on the Foreman. It takes 2 to make 4 oz usually so I cut up 1/2 and put it on a HEB carb sense tortilla and cut up the other one and put it in my salad. At dinner I put whatever kind of meat I'm having which right now is pre-cooked ham.I normally add 1 tbsp walnuts in it and it's normally very filling. For the veggies I use green leaf lettuce, baby spinach, baby cucumbers, baby carrots and grape tomatoes so I'm really getting most of my fruits & veggies as veggies although I know tomatoes are considered fruit. My one fruit a day now is a container of raspberries which I normally have as my dessert after lunch. After dinner I have Yoplait 100 protein Greek yogurt with a 100 cal snack pack dry roasted almonds mixed in as dessert. As I said they are really filling with the extra protein even though it's usually in a small salad.
My tummy is a little better but somehow I aggravated my back at Curves. It's not my usual curved spine aches.I have used Bio Freeze and taken an OTC pain relief for it but it hurts to even walk to another room in our house and our house isn't that big.It hurts from my shoulder blades to the middle of my back and the mid back pain is new.I think someone here has had back pain.Do you use heat or ice it?I think I have a heating pad but no ice packs. No walk this afternoon.

Chele,I didn't see your post.I'm sorry you have a stomach bug.I didn't have a bug yesterday but I wasn't hungry either and it was like anything I did eat just sat on my tummy.I hope you feel better soon.My tummy is a little better. At least I don't feel stuffed and bloated like I did yesterday although it still seems hard to drink as much water as I need to.Now if my back pain would go away I would be fine.
I see everyone else is ready for 2017 with your avatars. They are nice and festive.

Trouble with some yogurt, is the artificial sugar which can do a number on the gut, even steva. I can't touch it.

Becky, did you find out if Curves would be open on Friday? Do you know how you hurt your back? The whole heat/ice thing is a matter of conjecture. One school of thought is that if it's inflammation, ice it, but my former massage therapist said just use what feels good to you. So if you have heat but no ice packs, try the heat. If it doesn't work, get an ice pack at WM and see if that works. Bio Freeze might work just as well though.
Chele, I hate that you were apparently gifted with a stomach bug. I hope things are getting a bit better for you.
Kathy, I agree that I would have stayed home until the kid was feeling better. Too bad they were putting everyone at risk. It's possible that you are correct about stress as the cause of my problems yesterday.
I can do stevia, Linda, but can't handle any of the artificials.
Phoebe has an appointment to get her bandage changed tomorrow morning. I will give her all her drugs so hopefully she will be rather complacent for the trip and the bandage change. Not looking forward to yet another round trip any more than Phoebe will be.

Good Evening Chicks and thanks for the start Karen,
Got home around 12:30pm today from DS's house. Christmas eve was nice, DS made a lovely roast beef with delicious sides. I apparently brought too many nibbles so we left some in the fridge and I was able to bring them to SIL's yesterday at lunchtime which was appreciated by all.
Karen - so sorry that you had such a difficult Christmas this year. You and poor Phoebe have certainly had more than your share of challenges along with a lack of sleep this past year~! I have bought my own presents for years but this year when he asked, I told Gary I wanted a pair of Frye boots which I wouldn't normally spend the money on for myself. He picked them out and did pretty well but they are pull on style and a bit difficult to get into. I think they will probably need to be returned and I will pick out another style. I hope your head, sinuses and reflux all improve soon! I had trouble with my sinuses down at DS's house and its been very chilly and damp here today with spritzing rain off and on all day.
Chele - glad you had a nice dinner out and hope your gift exchange was fun and enjoyable! sending healing wishes for your headache to improve as well. I think all the changes in barimetric temps are drivng our heads crazy! Any plans for your and Iggy this week? Gary is working tomorrow and Wed. and then off Thurs. and Fri. until the day after New Years'.
Kathy - sounds like you and DM had a nice evening until the PC issue. I agree that if the child was sick enough to take to the ED, why would you travel with her to someone else's house and expose everyone? Just doesn't make a great deal of sense to me . Dinner out on the company sounds good to me and I hope you get to enjoy the new seafood restaurant you wanted to try. I must have been exhausted last night since I didn't even hear DS/BIL and DN leave to go and pick up my niece and head to the airport. They are off to a family vacation in Panama.
Linda - YIKES on that crowd between dogs, kids and adults! We always bring the Puggles with us and it wears them out with the group at my cousin's house and the noise. Beautiful picture as your avatar. I will echo Karen that your dessert sounded decadent. I'm sure it was a pleasure to get back home to peace and quiet despite having the visit with the family.
Becky - sorry to hear that your IBS and head have been bothering you. I am feeling rather bloated myself but that is probably from eating Christmas cookies that I just broke down and ate . I took the scale with me to DS's house and did my daily WIs but boy does that kick your tush and keep you mindful that when you play you pay! I am glad that you and Kenneth had a nice Christmas visit with friends and enjoyed exchanging gifts. Sounds like you are continuing to do great with your eating and success at your Curves workouts. It might be a good idea to back off the walks on WO days and alternate to see if it helps with keeping the knee pain in check. I have had sporadic pain in the hip and my knees with the changes in weather and activity depending on the day.
Alright ladies, time for me to get going and put the PJs on and figure out my errands for tomorrow. Apparently I bought Gary 2 pair of dress slacks for work in the wrong size so I need to return them and also a sweater I bought that when I put it on at home, didn't really like. Have a good evening and stay safe and warm. Ciao for now!

Thanks Karen. She didn't cut much off b/c it wasn't that long and left it a little longer in the back b/c she said I looked better with it a little longer.I don't know what was wrong with that wonky scale.I don't think it needs batteries.Scooter and Kenneth both nudge it with their feet sometimes so maybe it was just off. It's never been that far off before.I would really like to get a new one but I don't know what kind to buy now.I think the discomfort after water comes b/c I'm getting fuller the more water I drink.I wish there was a better way for Phoebe too. Were all her surgeries for the same thing?
Linda,I have found one a yogurt that doesn't seem to bother my tummy. It's Yoplait 100 Greek protein yogurt.I don't know if it's the extra protein or what but my tummy seems to like it better.I know when they take the fat out of foods they add sugar or sweeteners in it but I'm able to use sweeteners like Truvia without any problem.I asked my NP about Truvia and she said it was fine to use.I don't do well with Stevia or any other kind of sweetener though.
Karen,I asked the owner of Curves about Friday and she said the only day she is closing this week is Sat and she's only open 4 hrs on Saturdays normally and closed on Sun every week.I didn't walk this afternoon b/c of my back.I did find some Excedrin for migraines I still had and took it and it helped a little and after a hot shower it seemed better but now that I'm back on my recliner it is hurting again.I got up from the recliner once this morning after I had already gotten up a couple of times and it felt like a cramp or a catch in it but I'm beginning to think it's the back of the recliner b/c it seems to recline farther back and is harder than it used to be.We may go to Bastrop tomorrow and if so I will get an ice pack at WM.If not I'll get one at WM in Elgin. If it gets too bad tonight I will take an Aleve PM and that will help me sleep anyway.I had Kenneth put some Bio Freeze on it and it didn't do anything but make it warm.Drive safely tomorrow and I hope Phoebe won't be too uncomfortable.I know you aren't looking forward to it anymore than she is.Since Scooter can be so wild sometimes Kenneth won't take her to the vet by himself.I always have to go along but so far it's just been once a yr for shots thank goodness. Our friends were laughing at her yesterday b/c she was running around in circles and running so fast in the yard.We would just love to have 1/3 of her energy.
Austin had record highs today. The highs were warmer for this day than in the 120 yrs of recording temps in Austin. It was 84 at Camp Mabry and 85 at ABIA which usually parallels our temp. However a small front is expected tonight with a low of 58 and a high of 70 expected for tomorrow but back up to 75 on Wednesday then a little cooler the rest of the week but still not cold.
