Hello Ginny - Those fabrics are really pretty and look like they will be beautiful in that quilt pattern Ruth and Sue - Hope you are doing well. It was cooler here today, but nice and sunny. I went out to visit some relatives, so it was a nice day to get out. This afternoon I did a few things in the yard - weed spraying, etc. So I didn't get to any quilting today. I hope to get to some this weekend. Hope you all get to do some crafting soon too. Take care

Good morning! CJ- hope your visit with your relatives was pleasant and rewarding. It sure does help to have good weather to travel in!! Were you able to reconnect with the landscaper you used last year to get your lawn done? I remember last year you changed who you were using for that, and that it was stressful for you to find a new contractor.
Lots of yard work for me yesterday, but I pretty much got done what I was hoping to accomplish. I planted turnips, peas and some lettuce seeds and started getting the other bed ready for planting eventually. I still have some, actually lots of work to do out there, but I got off to a start.
I did get to work on the QAYG, and the pile of pre-cut batting (waiting to be quilted) is going down.
Got some baking to do today in preparation for tomorrow and I want to get some housework in today.
Ruth and Sue, we miss hearing from you….
Have a great day!!!

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today. I'd love to hear from Ruth and Sue too Ginny - I'm glad you were able to get all that yard work done and I hope you'll get to enjoy those vegetables this summer And I'm happy to hear you were able to work on your quilt too. Is all your family planning to get together tomorrow for Easter? I hope you'll be able to. I plan a quiet day. I was fortunate to contract with the same lawn company that cut my grass last year. They already came last week. They do a good job, but are sometimes a bit "aggressive" with the weed whacker. Last year they cut up some of my day lilllies. This time they cut down one of my ornamental grasses almost to the ground. I only have 2 of those in a bedded area, but I've let the grass grow up in the bed, so I could maybe see why they might have thought the ornamental grass was just regular grass/weeds. I went out this week and put some stakes around the one they cut and strung some string around the stakes so they can't get their weed whacker in there. Hopefully they'll leave them alone until they start growing this season and then they'll realize what they are. (They do kind of look like dead grass right now.) I started working on a new quilt today that uses a jelly roll. I hope to work on that for a few days and get it finished. I also spent some time today deciding on a layout for the lighthouse version of my Sweet Dreams quilt and I've realized that the 3 blocks I've made for the outer border do not look good. I like the red, white and blue blocks, but the white fabric in the blocks really stands out and doesn't blend with the quilt overall. So I'm going to remake them with that sandy colored seashell fabric as the background but still use the red and blue fabric. At least I've only made 3 blocks (of 6 blocks), so hopefully it won't be hard to get those remade. I thought about the floral version some too and I'm alright with the 3 blocks made for that, and I think I'll go back and make the one block I didn't make a few weeks ago. I need 8 blocks for the outer border of this quilt, so that would leave me 4 more to make. I'm a bit confused about how many more blocks there are to make. I think it should be 3 more blocks, but looking at Pat Sloan's website it only shows a block for next week. I may ask on the Facebook page next week to see if she'll answer. I also made a block from a quilt pattern called Rolling Stones (a Jordan Fabrics pattern) today. I wanted to test it out to see if I'd like to make the whole quilt. I'm not sure I would since there are quite a few small pieces in each block because you make 4 square in a square blocks. I just used some scraps I had so I went ahead and put a small inner and outer border on this block to use up the fabric. I'm really happy with how it came out - measures 16x16. So I might make it into a pillow, or else a small quilt. Here are pictures of my Rolling Stone block/quilt, all 5 of my Moda Blockhead blocks so far, and my two Sweet Dreams quilt for this week. I really like the lighthouse one so I'm sorry I won't be able to use it in the quilt. But with the three red, white and blue blocks I have done so far I could make a table runner - or something Hope you all have a good rest of your day. Take care

Good evening!!
CJ, CJ, CJ! I will sound like a broken record but you must do something with that lighthouse block!!! (Remember yesterday I told you to quilt that quilt?) if the one block is left over, make a pillow, make a table runner, even a small wall hanging- use it and enjoy it! Life is too short to make something so pretty that brings such joy to you and not have you getting joy from seeing that block. How many more different blockhead blocks are there? I am glad you will be able to rework those blocks - while its not too much work. Do you have enough fabric to replace the white fabric? All your blocks are so pretty…the blockhead quilt would look awesome in my family room with that color scheme.
Glad to hear that your landscaper is back, but what a bummer that they cut down the ornamental grass. Guess that goes with the territory, until they learn that you have lillies and grasses that are supposed to grow. I cannot grow lillies here, the deer love to eat them.
I walked with Jane this am, before the rain was supposed to start. (And its still not raining). I did go to the store for a few items for tomorrow, and then went to the nursery to look for a shrub to plant near the shed. I need something that can take partial shade, but is not a favorite food for the deer. Guess I have to keep looking.
Got some cooking and cleaning done in preparation for Easter. My son might get stuck for a second shift tomorrow….Dd #1 and her family will not be here tomorrow, but Dd#2 and DSIL and DGS#3 will be here. Dd told me today that the little fellow is walking a bit- 2 or 3 steps at a time. It will be fun to see them. I might invite my neighbor for dinner tomorrow- not sure if she will be by herself and if she wants to join us, I will invite her.
I did paint the two bathroom ceilings today- boy did they need it!!! Monday I will paint the walls in the one bathroom. Its a small room and should not take much time to paint.
A favorite movie is on now, gonna put it on the IPAd and get a few more blocks made.

HAPPY EASTER Ginny - I hope you enjoy your day with family. Phyl - Hope you have a wonderful day. Thanks for your comments, I like that block too - too bad that's all the fabric I had Ruth and Sue - Hope you are doing well and that you enjoy the day with family. It's cooler here today, in the 50s, but sunny and breezy. I've been working on the jelly roll quilt I started yesterday. I have the center all done and just need to add the borders. I'm hoping it will look good when I'm done. Trying to arrange those jelly rolls and other cut pieces was the part of the quilt I didn't like - it makes such a difference how fabrics are laid out. Hopefully I can finish it in a few days so I can start remaking those Sweet Dreams quilt blocks. Take care everyone

Well, its been one of those days for sure. I did get to talk about quilting (quite a bit actually~) with someone else at my church who also quilts. She did tell me that there is another quilting guild 2 towns away- perhaps their schedule will fit better with mine if I decide to become part of a guild. The guild in my town seems pleasant enough, but their meeting schedule does not fit mine.
Had a nice brunch after church and it was good to socialize a bit. Dd, DSIL and DGS came over for dinner. It was good to see them. DGS is getting close to walking but he is not ready yet.
Hope that whatever you did today was pleasant and maybe we all got some crafting time in! I am hoping to go work on a block or two before the show I want to watch on TV comes on Ginny
