Just noticed that next Monday starts the month of May! I have a few veggie seeds that I want to start early, and will have to get that done sometime this week. I did, late yesterday, post pictures of several QAYG blocks on the fabric I purchased years ago for the connection between the blocks. I love this fabric, but wonder if its too busy. As I bought this fabric several years ago, it seems that the exact fabric is no longer available, but moda still makes a blue swirl fabric that would be lovely for this use. Just gotta decide what I want to do.
Nice weather today….see ya later!
Ruth, Sue and Phyl ( feel welcome to stop in when you want to!) we miss you and hope you are doing well Ginny

Think what I am considering for the “other fabric” is Moda marble swirls-in royal- but I will have to keep looking and deciding.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today Ginny - Those QAYG blocks are beautiful, I love the fabric and color combinations. I think you are right to choose a more solid fabric for the sashing and then maybe you could use the floral fabric for an outer border or for binding? Or something else since it's such a pretty fabric. It's a bit cooler here today, but still sunny and in the 60s, so nice weather. I was able to finish making the other four Moda Blockheads 5 inch blocks, so I have all 7 done and I'm up to date. These little blocks are very difficult for me to make, even if they are cute I'll have to see if I want to keep making them. I hope to get some fabric cut to make a replacement block for the floral Sweet Dreams quilt, just to see if I like it better. I did try using the black and white filter on my picture of the quilt top and I do think using the off white background makes the block look very light. I'd like to get this decision made and be up to date with this quilt along too. I may start a new quilt along - I know I'm crazy This one runs for 7 months and it's another mystery quilt, with one clue each month. I would be doing this in red, white and blue fabrics. I don't have a lot of scraps like most of the people making this, but I do have yardage that I think might work. I'm going to make the blocks for the first clue (all 9 patches) and see if what I think. Here's a link to information on this quilt along: lisabongean.com/2022/04/04/oh-say-can-you-see-mystery-quilt-along-block-1/www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vmQfgI-Xfowww.youtube.com/watch?v=_4efZeH7EPUTake care

This is the fabric I am considering using instead. I think the color is used in one or more of the other fabrics,- but I will check it out. I have no idea if I can use the fabric for something else, but as it is one of the fabrics in the jelly roll, perhaps I can make a pillow sham out of it or something like that. The blocks are random, I try not to plan them and frequently just reach behind me with closed eyes and pull next piece of fabric. Its only 2 yards of fabric (actually less) so I should be ok with just getting more. As though I need more fabric.
Now, CJ- its perfectly ok to start another quilt! I am looking forward to seeing what/if you do stick it out with this quilt along. As its a mystery, well, its interesting cause you are not really sure what the end result will be. As long as you have appropriate red/white/blue fabrics, then I say go for it!!! And I am glad you used the black and white filter for your sweet dreams quilt. Its helpful and does draw the eye to an issue that perhaps you were not picking up. I hope you found it helpful to make your final decision. I will check out the youtubes in a bit….I wanted to post first.
Have a great evening! Ginny

Think I found a nice Kona solid that I will use for the border /edging of the QAYG. I just have to play with the IPAD and fabrics - I am between two colors of blue and will place the order with Joanns.

Well, I had some money left on a Joanns gift card, so I used that to order the fabric from Joanns. The last thing I needed was more fabric, but I think this will work out for the quilt, and will be able to use the other fabric I had for perhaps a border or two.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today Ginny - I have some of that Moda Marble Swirl fabric in different colors and it's very nice fabric. That color blue would be pretty in your quilt. I'm glad you found some other fabric to use for the borders/edging. I look forward to seeing the quilt when it's done It's cloudy and in the 60s here today, and back into the 50s tomorrow - which is fine by me. I'm not in any hurry for the warm weather. I was able to get the pieces cut for 2 blocks for the floral Sweet Dreams quilt and almost have them pieced together. That will just leave me with two more blocks to make - the patterns for those come out tomorrow and then next Wednesday. That is the last part of the quilt along and then we'll put the quilt top together. For the lighthouse Sweet Dreams quilt I still have two blocks to make. I think I want to see what the pattern is for tomorrow and next week before making them. There is another pattern that came out a few weeks ago that I didn't make for this version, so I'll have a choice between three block patterns to make my last two blocks. I'll be happy to finish this quilt along. I heard Pat Sloan talking about the next Wednesday block quilt along and I wondered if I could stand to do another one right now. I guess I'll have to see what it is. But I'd definitely only do one version of it I was able to get all my fabric cut and strip pieces done for the new quilt along and I'm ready to make the 9 patches (which is the first clue). So I need to get those done by the weekend, since I think Clue #2 comes out on Monday. I have just one other quilt thing to get done by Saturday - that's sewing together the small 4.5 inch strips of my leftover pink scraps. I hope I can get that done so I'm ready for the new color in May. I hope you all are having some nice weather and getting to do some crafting, or just something that is relaxing for you Take care!

well, the weather here is nice but chilly. I will take it, although I had to bring in the 4 plants that I put outside for the summer. I would much rather this weather than something that is too hot. Like CJ, I am in no rush for warm weather.
CJ- I am always astounded in how much you get done quilting/cutting fabric. It sounds as though you have decided to make the new quilt along, is that the red white and blue one?\. Glad you are al set to sew, and on schedule for the next clue on Monday. And Pat Sloan is pretty amazing, coming out with another quilt along so soon. I wonder if all these designs are all hers or if she has some help coming up with all the different quilt patterns. I am glad you have choices for the Sweet Dreams quilt alongs, so you can decide how you want to finish each quilt. Iknow you have in the past made your own design choices and done beautifully so I am curious to see what you end up doing.
What I ordered from Joann was a Kona solid in a similar royal blue, I realized that something similar (as the connecting pieces are so small) would be better, and the connecting pieces are really not the star, but the other fabrics are. Iam looking forward to getting back to work on that quilt, but it will be quite awhile before I am in final assembly.
I did want to get some straightening up done today and was in my sewing room a bit- but only to reorganize my supplies. So no crafting for me today. Hope that tomorrow I can get back to the machine and back to work on my PMQ.
Hi to Sue, Ruth and Phyl- hope that each of you is doing well. Ginny

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. I've had a few colder days but then I think it's warming up again. Ginny - I'm glad you have some fabric ordered and hope you can get back to working on that quilt when you have time. Hope your plants will be O.K. I would guess that Pat Sloan uses some type of software program to design her quilt blocks and quilt layout, but I don't think I've ever heard her say. Pretty much all her blocks are basic squares, half square triangles, flying geese and snowballed blocks. It's just the way she chooses her lights, mediums and darks within the blocks that make the patterns interesting. And I think that she does some unusual and pretty quilt layouts. Phyl - I'm glad you've been doing some sewing and I'm interested to hear about it. Ruth - Hope you are getting some crocheting done. Sue - Hope you are doing well. I went out yesterday to run errands and pick up some groceries so I didn't get to any quilting. This morning I finished piecing together the blocks I made on Tuesday and also I finished making all the 31 small 9 patch blocks for the Red, White and Blue quilt along which I'm going to try to do. I also cut out the pieces and made the HSTs for the two Sweet Dreams blocks for the pattern that came out yesterday. I'm really happy that next week is the last block for Sweet Dreams, I'm tired of this quilt I know I'm going to really love the lighthouse version when it's done though and I think I'll like the floral version well enough. The floral fabric is the problem for me in this quilt. I loved the fabric before it was cut, but cutting it took away a lot of the design. I also have 2 Moda Blockhead blocks to make, so I'm thinking a bit about what fabrics to choose for this week. I hope I can get those made tomorrow or Saturday. I really, really don't want to make that pink strip block. I feel like I need to force myself to do it though The next Pat Sloan quilt along looks like it will be quick and easier. There will only be 9 blocks and they will be 12 inch size. The layout is pretty straightforward too, so I guess I will probably participate. I've found that this one part of quilting that I really like - thinking about a new quilt along, what fabrics to use, looking at the layout, etc. I find this part more exciting than making the actual quilt top Take care everyone!

My fabric arrived….its nice quality, but the color is a bit off. Ugh. In theIt actually looks a little bit better than it does in person. For joining strips are only one and three-quarter inches wide when cut, so you really don’t see that much of that fabric. So I guess I’m gonna stick with it, and use it. I thought the color was a tiny bit darker. But again the quality of the fabric is quite nice and I think it’ll work.
CJ I’m glad that you’re gonna try that new quilt along you sound excited about it. And yes the process of picking your fabrics and trying to envision how they’re going to look sure is exciting! Yes I suppose you’re right, Pat Sloan probably use a software and just kinda does a lot of pointing and clicking to create new quilts. I hope this one is easy for you and a lot of fun. I don’t blame you for not getting any quilting done yesterday, just running out and having to do errands is a lot of work and then you have to bring everything home in the house and put away.
I want to try and get a walk in, it’s very cool and breezy but beautiful sun shining. Then maybe I’ll be able to play with some fabric in a little bit. I need to get back to the PMQ to get that done before I go back to my quilt as you go.

Oh crumb…..my quiet afternoon got trashed…I got a phone call and was begged to go to work. Thankfully there was an excellent monitor on the route who helped find the stops for me. Kids were not too bad, but i did not get any work done on my PMQ (which I will get to working on now).
