Hi Ginny - Sorry you had to go into work, but glad it wasn't too bad. I think that fabric will look good between your blocks. Like you said the strips are going to be so small, a bit of color difference won't be noticed. Hope you were able to work on your PMQ blocks. I was able to get those two blocks put together (the ones I cut the pieces for this morning), so now I'm up to date on the Sweet Dreams quilts. I do want to try to sew the two sides of the floral version of the quilt in the next few days. Then I'll just have the top and bottom to put on. I'm not sure if I can do that with the lighthouse version until I make next week's block and see how I want to lay them out. Hope you've all had a good day

CJ- think its wise to wait till next week for the lighthouse quilt to see what PS is asking to be made then. You have put a lot of work into both and you might as well be happy with the results. Nice work getting up to date on the Sweet Dreams quilts. Have you figured out how you will put together the floral version
Yes, got a little bit of work done on the PMQ block, but have misplaced the work I did on it the other day. I kept going with what I could and am almost done with this months blocks, but I still have to find the missing portions that I already assembled.
It was 31 degrees this am when I woke up! What month is it anyway???
Going for a walk and then hope to sew. I also have to find those two small assemblies that I misplaced which I tried to blame on a cat but it is not where she was sleeping (and Ithought that maybe she was sleeping on the pieces)

Well if I had looked behind my machine in the first place….I would have found the 2 sub pieces of the block that were missing. Duh.

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today. It was a cold start here this morning, but it's up in the low 60s and sunny. Ginny - I'm glad you found your quilt pieces and I hope you enjoyed your walk I was able to get the 2 Moda Blockheads blocks finished this morning, but ended up having to remake the small one. I had put some floral fabric in it, but I've decided I need to stick to my original idea to only do the small 5 inch blocks in a solid bone background and one other fabric (color) from the fabrics I'm using in the larger blocks. I have 4 color fabrics I'm using in the large blocks, so I hope to be able to make about 8 small blocks from each color. There are 36 total blocks, but I've read a few are applique and one is paper pieced. I pretty much don't like to do either of those things, so I wouldn't make those blocks. Here is a picture of all my large blocks so far and also a picture of the small blocks laying on my focus fabric. Now I just have the pink strips to do Hope you all have a good weekend and get to do some crafting. Take care!

CJ- the blocks look great…and totally agree with you that applique is not my cup of tea either. Paper piecing, well I get it. I like that you have developed a game plan for getting the blocks done, and the simplicity of the smaller blocks (with only two fabrics) is stunning.
Yes, I got my walk in. DSIL stopped over to borrow a large ladder and that got me started on a cleaning project. Ugh. I am done with that for now, and will get to bed. G

Hello Ginny - Hope you are having a good day Ruth, Sue and Phyl - Hope you are well It's a nice sunny day here, with temps in the 60s. I finished my pink scrap blocks. I'll show you a picture of them and all that I've done so far this year. It will be interesting to figure out what to do with these. I was also able to get the sides on my Sweet Dreams floral version quilt. I could put either the top or the bottom on but I think I'll wait to see what the last block is that comes out on Wednesday. I'd like to put a floral border on this quilt, but I'm not sure if I will - since it's already really big (60x72 without borders). Take care

Gee CJ you have been so busy today!!! I love the sweet dreams floral quilt(I like florals most of the time) and think its just charming. The block, second from the bottom on the left side, is just so cute- its so neat the way the pieces in the middle seem to wrap around each other. Nice job!! I am anxious to seeing what you are going to do with the rest of it, based upon what the final block is this week.
Got Fons and Porter ( quilt show ) on now, I have to clean up my DVR a bit, so I need to view some of the episodes I have DVRed. Its a good show, and while I might not like the quilt they work on each episode, they have good tips. As soon as this episode is over,I will go work on my PMQ a bit, see how far I can get.
DD and DGS stopped over for awhile- as always good to see them. He is getting ready to walk all by himself, and it is so neat to watch.
I did get a little bit of gardening done. Just caught a weather update and there is a possibility of frost again tonight. I have plants I need to cover- I put the plants out just today thinking that the frost alerts were all over with. Guess I was wrong. The plants are heavy and I not feel like dragging them back in the house - again!!!
On Fons and Porter- they spoke about a quilter who takes pictures of (both front and back) and documents what she did with the quilt (recipient, pattern etc…..) in that log. A neat idea for sure.
Gonna go out and cover the plants, then off to sew. Have a great evening.
Ruth, Sue and Phyl- hope to see you stop in to say hello!! Ginny

Hello Ginny - I hope your plants were safe last night, hopefully that's the last cold night for this season. Your PMQ block looks great, that's a pretty color combination. It will be neat to see it when it's all done Ruth, Sue and Phyl - Hope you are getting some crafting done. It's in the 60s here today, but cloudy and we might get some rain. I finished several things this morning with my quilting. I sewed together the pieces of the Sweet Dreams Lighthouse quilt that I could get done without adding the blocks yet. This should make it quicker to put the top together once I make the final block this week. I also made my 2 monthly Shoofly Blocks for Pat Sloan's Secret Lives of Color quilt along. Most people are making all the blocks - about 7 a month, but I just don't have that large a variety of fabric colors. This month is Red but it's very strange shades of red. I do like my blocks so far and I've been making myself pick background fabrics that are prints or darker than I usually use. I'm so stuck on just a plain white or cream background for most quilts and I want to try to branch out from that. I also made the binding for the Flip Flop table runner I finished a while back and hope to get it attached and finished this month. And finally I did a bit of hand quilting. I have a 16 block small quilt that I've been working on for several months (actually the last time I worked on it was about 2 months ago ), and I only have 9 more blocks to finish quilting. So I'm going to try to quilt a block a day and hopefully I'll be finished by May 10th. Take care everyone and have a good day

CJ- I love the shoo fly block pattern !!Think its really cool that you are leaving your comfort zone a bit to make them-think that is quilting at its best in a way, when we try new colors and techniques, learning as we go.Glad you are getting some hand quilting done!! Love hand sewing, its such a peaceful endeavor. I really like that top row of yellow blocks…so cheery and pretty.
I did get some gardening done (yuck) and I admit I tire of it so quickly. Not that I get tired from it, I just do not like to do it!!! Ha ha ha
I hope that a bit later I can return to working on the QAYG. I thought of another quilt that might need making. My friends daughter is expecting in 3 months and the little one “needs” a quilt. But my friend also quilts, although I do not think she has much time. I can ask her if she wants me to make a quilt.
Might stop back in later to see who checks in. Its warm here and the pollen counts are high- I feel it!!!
