CJ, I love the jelly roll rock blocks .and the secret lives of color are great also. You did a great job on all of them as usual. Sounds like your roof experience is like when you get to the dentist after making an appointment because of a toothache and it doesn't hurt anymore when you actually get there.
When we had our roof replaced we had a leak around our chimney. I can't remember why we didn't call the person that did the roof back again to fix the problem but we just put a towel on the floor under where it was leaking (where it was leaking was ceramic tiles under and around the woodburner and it rarely rains where I live). A couple years ago it stopped leaking all of a sudden.
Ginny, yes you would definitley think that yarn manufacturer's could do a much better job. I'm about to start using the third skein and will see how that one is. The first one was bad and second was worse. Luckily I'm almost done with this blanket.
be back later

SOOOOOOO frustrating when yarn is so irregular like that. Not like we do not spend good money on it, right?? I had that when I worked on the BOM- most fabrics were excellent quality but then there were two that just frayed and did not hold shape well.
Think today is going to be a day to crochet…..will stop back in later to see who has checked in. G

GOOD MORNING, YESTERDAY WAS FUN,WE WENT TO FOUR QUILT SHOPS. Started out in LANSING,IA this is a new quilt shop, retired teacher so for now
she has her bolts in baby cribs, looks like someone made like 3 steps in her cribs so the bolts look like they on on risers.
she seems to be a very lady, she will repair and sell a few ELNEA'S,she showed
Don a machine kinda neat in away.
you open up the case and the flaps all come down(front back sides) when you are done fold them back up and it is your carrying case.
I wonder when you are sewing could those flaps be in the way..I DID LOOK AT HER FABRIC READ THE LABEL,BOUGHT SOME RED SUNFLOWER FABRIC ,GOT HOME AND LOOKED AT THE SALVAGES TO SEE WHO MADE IT.NO NAME ,THIS MIGHT BE A RED FLAG AS THE PRICE IS ONLY $6.50 A YARD.
YOU can't buy fabric at that price at Walmart anymore. I only want to make place mats.
I KNOW she is new and just starting out,not sure if she wil years ago LANSING had a beautiful quilt shop, after a few years she went out as there were to many other quilt shop in the area.
from there we went to PARARIE DU CHEN WI, HAD LUNCH AND went to Pickett Fence, my favorite shop.I got some white back ground fabric and my purples.
I am thinking about using the 30 day blocks in it,if I DON'T CHANGE MY MIND FROM THERE IT WAS RED ROXY SHOP IN DECORAH IA, another shop would be nice if it was here. only bought 2 half yards of fabric there.
from there it was CALENODIA, MN bought winter panel and HOLLY PRINTED OUT THE PATTERN FOR ME TO MAKE 3 CARDINALS SMALL HANGINGS YOU PUT ON ONE OF THOSE FOLDING STANDING RACK TYPE OF THING,LIKE FOR A TABLE TOPPER STAND. THEN WE CAME HOME.
told Holly about the Lansing quit shop prices and she said she can't even buy fabric for that. I got al these goodies for a little less then$100.00 forgot to say the lady in Lansing had been sewing since she was 8 YEARS OLD.
o k.you are probably wondering how we can from WI to IA back into WI,back into IA and MN and home. the 3 STATES boarder each and we can go up WI up the WI side and come home on The MN side, or vice versa.MISSISSIPPI RIVER seperates the 2 sates. go over the interstate and we can be in Ml LESS see then 5 minutes.PHYL

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well and having nice weather. It's a pretty day in the high 70s here, and low humidity. We did have some storms yesterday.
Phyl - How exciting to get to go to so many quilt shops, I would love to do that, and I'm glad you were able to.
Ruth - Hope your crocheting is going well.
Ginny - Hope you are doing well and did some crocheting too.
Sue - I hope things are well with you.
I haven't done any quilting for the last few days. I did get the fabrics cut out for the first block of the Laundry Basket quilt along and hope to get those made soon. And then I need to get the two Moda Blockheads blocks made. Hopefully I'll feel more motivated this weekend.
Take care everyone and have a great weekend!

Good evening everyone. I hope you all had a great day.
Phyl, what fun to go to all those quilt shops. I'd want to buy all the fabrics and gadgets
CJ, those days happen to all of us when we are too busy or just don't feel llike working on our crafts.
Ginny, how'd the crocheting go?
Well I finished the star shaped blanket for dgs. I know he will love it and it will remind him of Grandma. Now I don't know what to work on so maybe I'll do another piece of doll clothing.
It was a pleasant day. Have a good night everyone. I'll be back to see if Ginny checked in

Well they did it. The president who was before President Trump got his wish. Gas is now $5/gal. Prices of food are going to be even higher. There are people that don't realize that the cost of fuel impacts everthing, absolutely everything. Went to take care of some business today.that was the price of gasoline. This is the third week in a row that it rose by 50 cents. I don't usually go anywhere on weekend days but this is now two weeks in a row that I've gone out on a Saturday.
Ginny, you better order if free shipping is available!!
Last evening I started a little crochet doll shirt. I didn't get far so will work on it today now that I'm home.

I was on the road until a few hours ago. When I left Friday am in my state, gas was $4.73. On the way home this afternoon the best price we found was $4.89 in the state below us which has lower gas prices. I am almost horrified to see what I will see at the gas pumps that I usually use.. Ruth, they do not care. Sorry- they just think that somehow the common folk will adapt. I am concerned about how to heat homes this winter, and believe me I have NO desire to move south to a state where heating ones home is not a concern, but cooling is. My son was travelling from a southern state this weekend and went though an incredibly torturous path to get home. He had to drive 7 hours to get to an airport that was not getting heavy rain, fly to the mid west and then fly home. Such insanity. I have no desire to move to the south.
Traveled yesterday to a theater to see a wonderful biblical play. It was a really enjoyable outing and I am super glad I went. Got many good memories of this location years ago, when I went with Dh and the kids.
Ruth, glad you finished the star shaped afghan for DGS, which I am sure will love.
Phyl - i am just catching up, have you ever bought those dye absorbing towels to put in the wash when you wash a fabric that might bleed? Sounds like you fixed your won problem however. Glad that worked out for you.
CJ- did your motivation catch up with you? Hope you got some quilting time in.
Have a great night Ginny

Well it sounds like the gas in the less expensive state was the price it was here last week. Now $5 which is unbelieveable. I wonder what it will eventually get to. And yes those that have to drive to get to work and yet are low income people will I guess have to choose gas over food.More people will be going to food banks or relying on gov't help to buy food and those that still are working will be taxed to death to pay for all the "free" stuff that people are going to be forced to accept.I can see this causing major problems with people becoming very anxious and depressed.I can see food becoming very scarce in stores due to delivery problem
But on to crafting... How are your quilting projects going everyone? I'm making doll clothers as mentioned but not getting to far on that so far. I've made a shorts and top set and started another but the one I started is too large so I need to rip that out and start over.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's been really nice here for a few days - high 70s, sunny and low humidity. Phyl - I'm glad your fabric washed O.K. Ginny - Sounds like you had a nice trip, I'm glad you were able to get away. Ruth - I hope the doll clothes are coming along, I bet they are cute. Sue - Hope you are well. I finished making the two Moda Blockheads block for the week. These were really tough to make. They have 49 pieces in them and are definitely the block with the most seams I have ever made. My small block is a mess and looks bad, but I'm not remaking it, I just might not use it in the final quilt top. I'm fairly happy with my large block (picture below). I sure hope this is one of the hardest blocks in this quilt along and there are easier ones ahead. Now I'm ready for the next clue in the Oh Say Can You Sew quilt along that comes out tomorrow. I hope it's not too bad. I'm thinking about pulling out one of the projects I have as a kit and work on that just for fun. These quilt alongs seem like work to me sometimes, although I do enjoy the final quilt top at the end. Take care everyone

CJ- well that block sure looks good to me, but I can see how it was challenging to make. You did a wonderful job putting it together ! I am sorry that you struggled with the smaller block. And if you use it or you do not that is your decision. I am sure you learned something in the process of making both blocks and there is something to be said for that.
Happy Sunday night- Monday is just around the corner Ginny
