I just rejoinded after 20 years used to do the old programs with points, like 26 to 29 a day but bananas and eggs and chicken had points. so the new plan I think they said I'm 30 points a day but that stuff's free. so should I keep doing my old way of knowing how to do it or switch to the new way help

IMO, if you are going to try the new plan, it would make sense to join WW - you will get the program materials, and you can attend meetings. The changes have been radical enough that guidance at first would be helpful.
However, if you are comfortable working on your own with the old plan that worked for you, then why not stay with that?

The new programs have SmartPoints which heavily tax foods with sugar and fat. If you were on Points (before free fruit and vegetables) the 3 point can of soda is now 9, and a piece of cake is 26. But that is part of why they can offer free chicken, or eggs, or potatoes, or avocado, or beans, etc. Some people love this because they have a healthy eating goal.
Iām more of a calories in, calories out kind of person. Iām not against healthy eating, I just like more wiggle room for parties and travel.
Good news is: all the programs work.

laurie4747 welcome!! š¤ If you want to do the old plan again make sure you check out an app called Healthi (formerly iTrackBites) we have a few threads about it over on the General Board here. Just put it in the search bar at the top right. The older plans come with the free version, if you decide you like it you can choose to upgrade to the Pro version for $30 a year. You can play with your zero point foods on the WW app to make it so the new plan is more like the old plan, in that you'd be charged for fruit etc., and since you have already rejoined that probably would be your best bet. On your survey answer rarely(never) to eating fruits that will give you points for them and just keep hitting next, then on the protein question just pick 1 thing (the question where you have to pick one). BUT in all honesty like irisinnia mentioned, this plan isn't anything like the old plan and it is leaving a lot of members frustrated and looking for other options. It is just a tweaked version of the SmartPoints plan and it is great for maintenance. That being said, most of us aren't looking to maintain. Good luck and make sure to check us out over on the General Board!

i found diets do not work. the thing that worked for me was to change my idea of "normal". if you try to hold your breath (starve yourself) it is just a matter of time till you give up. if you change your diet is has to be in a way that can become your new normal.
I lost 60kg by cutting out sugar. it took more than a year. now my habits and shape have changed dramatically, along with my normal. i have no worries of putting the weight back on because my old habits seem totally outrageous to me now.
I don't know if this will help anyone. all i know is it worked for me.
