Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - The roofing company did come by several weeks ago but they didn't see any problems on the roof. It was strange that the piece that looks like it had blown up was flat when the guy was here, so who knows what's going on withthat. So I'm just waiting for the next windy, heavy rain storm to come to see if I get leaks again. Most of the quilt alongs I'm working on will have me end up with a lap size (or larger) quilt. I was just looking at the dates some of these are ending and they all finish up anywhere from Jul-Aug-Sep. But I know I'll probably find others to join I'd like to make up some of my own quilt alongs for projects I've been wanting to do and just have a goal to work on them once a week. I went out to run a bunch of errands today and stopped by a local quilt shop and I was able to find some blue fabric to match the fabric with the chairs on it. Now I can cut up the fabrics for that quilt. I did find another black fabric with multi-colors in it that I can use for some of my Rainbow Scrap Challenge quilts. Hope you are all getting to do some crafting too

HI, today was cut ups at the quilt shop(same as when I say sew day..)
I only took one project, called nap time from Quiltmaker magazine.
does you brain ever get turned around when looking at a pattern or picture of the quilt,or crocheting??? that is what happened to me yesterday, I SHOULD HAVE MADE A STRATA AND CUT 6 And 1/2 inches for blocks.
my thinking was I do that I would be coming home early. SO I cut 100 strips of 2 and 1/2 by 6 and 1/2 rectangles.DUH it hit me after supper, I could have cut the strips then made the strata at cut ups.
so I sewed slow today, we had fun.
I DID screw up the sripology pattern, might have to have NITA HELP ME
have not started the 30 blocks in a day yet, I AM ONLY GOING TO USE A FEW OF THE BLOCKS. NEeD TO MAKE UP MY MIND What BLOCKS DO I like the best. phyl

Good question for CJ, Ruth, these QAL- I wonder how large a quilt they make and what CJ’s final plans are for them. Firepit fires can be smoky for sure, but when they are going well, it smells so lovely. That cream and sugar yarn is not the most pleasant to work with, I find it does not slide well over the hook or itself. I find acrylic easier, most of the time, to work with. How is the knot bag coming out with acrylic?
CJ- gee you keep busy with quilting. Do you mind working on smaller blocks?? ( not sure I would enjoy that) Yes, the moda blocks do seem to be a bit more intricate, requiring more accurate piecing. Hope you are enjoying the process and the piecing!
Got stuck on the phone a lot today….will explain more tomorrow. But I did cut more batting for blocks for the QAYG. Think I am approaching the point where I will make more blocks and see how the overall layout of that quilt will work.
Yes, I did get some crocheting in last night.
Hi to Phyl and Sue. Ginny

CJ- glad you were able to find the fabric you were searching for. Bet that black fabric with multi colors will work perfectly for the rainbow scrap challenge blocks- a nice way to tie all the colors and blocks in together. I wonder if there is some way to ascertain where the leak is in your ceiling roof. Its good that they did get back to you, but must be so frustrating that no source was found.
Phyl - think we all have those mind block days when perhaps things could have gone more productively but you had fun. Absolutely, decide which blocks you like best and use only those.

oh now I do remember, CJ, that the roofers came but said they couldn't find any leaks I was here earlier in the day to read and forgot to post. Now it's 1am and I can't remember what I wanted to say to everyone. I did finish my second knot bag earlier in the afternoon. I might start another in the morning...or what will be morning to me after being up this late

Ruth, that happens to me all the time where I forget what I wanted to say. How did that second knot bag turn out? Was that the bag you made from acrylic yarn?
Today is predicted to be hot and humid. Think the grandkids are sleeping over tonight, so I might end up putting on the AC. Hope I can check in later on to see who has visited here. G

CJ, I'm glad you were able to find the fabric you needed while you were out Phyl, Ginny is sure right, we all have those days. Ginny, I hope your day is going well and that you are able to get in a little crafting Well I got my Yoda done FINALLY! It's for ds so I hope he likes it. I'm sure he will. Now if he can keep the kids from claiming it like they did the other and much simpler one I sent him last year Of course I could make each of them one but I don't really like making things that have parts that need to be sewn together. Today I'm going to make another knot bag

Hello Everyone Ruth - Congratulations on getting the Yoda done, I bet it's so cute and I hope your DS will love it. Ginny - Hope you enjoy having the grandkids for a sleepover tonight. Phyl - Sorry to hear about the cutting problems - I can relate Hope you can get them all worked out. Sue - Hope you are well. It's very hot here today - mid 90s. I haven't been outside yet. The mailman didn't come until almost 8:00 P.M last night, so I left the mail in the box and I hope he comes earlier today and then I'll go out and get it all. I was able to finish my Summer Camp blocks and my Moda Blockheads blocks. I had problems with the Moda blocks. It seems like I started off on that quilt along really well, but the last few blocks I've messed up. I think I'll start setting aside one day a week to do the Moda blocks and not do any other quilting things that day, maybe that will help me to focus on it. I hope I can get the Laundry Basket quilt along blocks done this weekend. I've watched her video a few times and I'll re-read the directions too, sometimes I have trouble figuring out her patterns. Here are a few pictures to share: My Summer Camp tonal blocks. I'll be using the yellow for the background in all of them, and each of the 9 blocks will be different fabrics in different colors. I'm really enjoying making a non-print quilt: My Summer Camp floral versions, and a picture of the fabric closeup - it has mint green, blue, yellow and coral in it that is difficult to see in the blocks. I have some coral fabric I might use in a few later blocks: My Moda Blockheads blocks - I had to remake those hourglass blocks in the larger block 3 times!!!: Take care everyone

CJ, I really like those tonal blocks.Sometimes prints are nice but I think that I prefer the tonal. That sure is strange that your mailman didn't come until 8pm! We live on a rural route and our mail carrier used to come late in the evening but now he has only one rought so is usually putting mail into the boxes by early afternoon.

Good morning!
CJ- gee you were busy quilting. Sounds like your mailman is on vacation- at least by me when he is not here they double up other carriers, so that they work extra long days. Indeed an 8 pm mail delivery is awfully late, and if you have to leave your home to check the mail (perhaps walking out to the end of the driveway) can be downright hazardous depending on amount of sun and weather. My favorite blocks?? I really like the Moda blocks- a combination of tonal fabrics and prints. I am sure that others are having issues with the Laundry Basket QAL- wonder if you could post on a FB page or email the designer for some assistance. I know you will figure it out. But we all have suffered from bad or hard to follow directions from time to time.
Ruth- so glad that Yoda is all finished!!! Ds will love him….and now the big job is keeping Yoda away from the rest of his family. Think its a great idea to make another knot bag- going from a project with lots of small pieces to something less complicated to work on.
Not sure what happened to my weather but it is magnificent. Some might call it cold, but its 61 degrees, which is as warm as it is supposed to get today and there is a wonderful breeze.I am under the gazebo, watching and listening to the birds and squirrels. Its delightful. I bring in the bird feeder nightly so I am only feeding birds. Well after filling the feeder and going back inside, a racoon (in broad daylight at 7 am) decided he wanted a free breakfast and sat eating my sunflower seed. Cute little sucker but I chased him to another tree.
I am expecting DD and DGS here in a bit. Its the little guys first birthday!!!
Hope everyone has a wonderful day and gets some crafting time in. Ginny

Hello Everyone - Hope you are having a good day and having nice weather. It's so pretty here - only in the low 70s, a good breeze and sunny. I have a few windows open and it was great to get the heat out of the house. I also pulled out my portable AC unit and cleaned it off and checked to make sure it was working (it is) so I'm ready to start using for the hot weather we're getting in the next week. Ginny - Hope your DGS has a wonderful 1st birthday!!!! I think I can figure out the Laundry Basket instructions as long as I take my time and watch the video a few times. I just have to hold back on my tendency to work fast I was able to finish my 4 quilt blocks for the Laundry Basked Mystery and they turned out pretty well. They were a bit larger than I planned for them to be, but I trimmed them. I just have to work on that 1/4 inch seam But larger is better than smaller. This quilt is going to be very interesting based on how the layout is looking. I also started getting fabrics ready to make a quilt using the Adirondack chair fabric. I'm hoping to get it starched and pressed and maybe cut later today so I can start piecing tomorrow. The pattern I'm using is a free one from the Fat Quarter Shop - Charm Pack Shortbread - but I'm using yardage instead of charm packs: www.fatquartershop.com/charm-pack-shortbread-quilt-pattern-free-pdf-pattern-fat-quarter-shopTake care Here's a picture of the blocks I finished today:

A very happy birthday to the sweet little fella!
CJ, I like the blocks you made today and posted for us to see.I can envision all kinds of ways to put them together to make an interesting quilt even without the other blocks they might be going to use.
It was nice weather here today too

Good afternoon, CJ- those blocks are so pretty!!! You did a lovely job putting them together- perfect for chain piecing. I too am anxious to see what you do with the Adirondack chair fabric.
Ruth, glad you are enjoying nice weather. Are you still working on the knot bag or have you started on another project?
It was 46 degrees here when I woke up. Now its in the mid 60’s and breezy. I could take this weather all summer and the nights are cool. Delightful.
Think I am going to work on the PMQ and then get a walk in. Happy Sunday all. Ginny

Hello - Glad to hear you've been having nice weather too. It's in the high 70s, sunny and breezy here today - just another really nice day. I've finished all the blocks for my Adirondack Chair quilt, but I think I might add another row, I'm not sure. I just needed a bit more of the chair fabric than I had (only needed enough for one more solid block!) so I went on Etsy and found a place where I could buy another yard. Even if I don't add a row, I can at least use the fabric for the border. I've figured out two possible layouts (the changes are in the 4 patch blocks), so I'm just trying decide which one I like before I start sewing the rows together. I probably should have stuck with the original pattern, but I always have to go renegade Hope you are all having a nice day and getting to do some crafting. Take care
