Just plain good to be home. Its starting to warm up here, but I think I can resist turning on the AC for another couple of days as the night time temps will be in the mid 50’s.
I did get some work done on my PMQ last night, then Ds came up to chat, so I stopped work on that. I am also trying to figure out what I am doing with the patriotic panel, and now am thinking I will get working on that as soon as I get up to the quilt shop (next week) to buy the rest of the fabric. I saw a great video on Fons and Porter yesterday, on how to make borders, assembling the different borders together and making a lovely mitered corner. I am not planning on a mitered corner but using a cornerstone block instead, but the video is a keeper.
Hope everyone had a great day. Ginny

Hello - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Glad you were able to work on your PMQ last night and I hope you can get what you need at the quilt store for the patriotic panel quilt. it's hot here today, 90 degrees and it was sunny. I'm still just using a fan downstairs but I have the air conditioners upstairs so at leasts it's cooler to sleep. I'm playing a game with the weather to see how long I can go without the air conditioner downstairs I was able to finish making all my setting blocks (30 of them) for the Moda Blockheads quilt. I just need to trim them all and then I can start assembling the larger blocks with the ones I've already finished. I may add some sashing between the rows on this quilt, I'll just have to see once I layout the finished large blocks. Hope you all are getting to do some crafting too. Take care

it was hot here today too. I'm not sure what the temp got to but it was well over 90 with high humidity so we used the a/c.
INstead of crocheting today I went to one of my crochet blanket files and weeded out some I knew I would never make. I actually have seven blanket folders and they all have a LOT of patterns in them. I'm sure some are duplicates.Besides that I have blankets in a couple other folders too such as for my dgs and another for the grandaughter that has the baby that just turned one. So I still have work to do in my pattern categories.

Ruth, its always a good idea to clean up and straighten up files of patterns. Yes, I figure you might have some duplicates or some that are very similar. I am so glad you turned on the AC- 90 degrees with high humidity is so uncomfortable.
Phyl- I am so glad you got some rain. 2 inches is a pretty heaven rainfall. Perhaps tomorrow you will be able to get some quilting time in.
CJ- Like you I am playing a game trying to keep from turning on the AC. Hope you are able to stay comfortable and that the heat goes down a bit. 30 blocks! Did you make them all today? Do you already have a fabric picked out for sashing should you decide to add it to the quilt?
Think I should be able to make it until Friday before I turn on the AC. Then its very likely that I do as it is supposed to be in the high 80’s.
Stay cool- have a good evening
Ginny

Had a lovely evening last night as we celebrated the summer break for our regular bible study. Looks like another warm day today, but not insanely hot, which I am thankful for.
Will check back in later on to see who stops in to say hello.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today. How is the weather there? It's cooler here today, but cloudy and we were supposed to get storms but none so far. Phyl - Glad you didn't get too much rain, I've seen lots of reports of flooding around the country. Ruth - It's always good to clear out files. I know I have hundreds of photos of quilts that I like and some I want to make. I really need to go through those and delete the ones I know I'll never make. Ginny - I'm glad you have a summer break from your bible study, hope you can hold off on the AC for as long as possible. Sue - Hope you are well. I was able to finish trimming all the blocks I needed to for the Moda Blockheads (60 blocks) and Oh Say Can You Sew (31 blocks). I was happy to get that done. I don't mind trimming, but not doing so many at once! I was happy to see that most of them only needed a sliver of fabric cut off and only a few were a bit too small. I've really been trying to work on getting a good scant 1/4 inch when sewing seams. It's funny because at the beginning of quilting I never trimmed anything I don't remember anyone teaching me to do that either in all the classes I took either, but I could be forgetting. Now I'm ready for all 3 new blocks that come out tomorrow - Summer Camp, Moda Blockheads and Laundry Basket - hope they are all pretty easy again. Hope you all get to do some crafting. Take care

Gee, CJ- do not know if I remember getting trimming instructions either early on in my quilting efforts. My BOM I absolutely did trim the blocks, and was warned by the quilt shop that I had to be careful trimming them. You got a lot done today, and I do not blame you one bit for being tired of trimming blocks. Congrats that you did not have to cut much more than a sliver off most of the blocks. Its a good feeling for sure.
Perhaps a bit cooler here today and the humidity does not seem to be too high. I did get a short walk in and while it was warm, it was pleasant enough.
Hope to get some crocheting in. Its too late in the day to break out the machine and start sewing. Ginny

HI, I spent a good share of the day, in my sewing area. I LOOKED FOR some novelty fabric I HAD ,found it. then looked for 2 baby patterns, found them.
then started cutting on the stripology pattern ,not easy to do when you don't remember to much for class. may have cut strips wrong size, will find out when I lay it out one day.
I HAVE SOME OTHER PROJECTS I CAN GET READY TOMORROW YET. PHYL

it was hot here again today and humidity was high but we stayed indoors with a/c. Even though I wasn't going to make another knot bag right now I did start one.
CJ, that's a lot of trimming!! In the one series of quilt lessons I took they didn't mention trimming either that I remember but the next group of classes maybe covered that. it was a series for learning to put the quilt top together so probably if she covered that at all it was then. I didn't go to anymore classes. That's probably a good thing because as you saw when I posted pictures, some of my blocks, like the flying geese which I had an implement for still didn't turn out to be very good. Sometime I may try again and I'll have to look for a video on how to use that thing I bought to do the flying geese with. I hope the blocks that come out tomorrow will be easy ones for you.
Ginny, I hope you can get in some crocheting and I hope it relaxes you so that you can sleep well
Phyl, I'm glad you were able to find the fabric you were looking for and the patterns

Ruth, I think you should give a try at quilting and try flying geese. They are not hard- and with the right tool (there are several out there). I do admit that they can be a royal pain in the neck when you are making a bunch of them repetively. Did you start the other knot bag? And I am glad you stayed in the AC and hopefully are comfortable.
Phyl- now that you have found the missing fabric and baby pattern fabrics, can you come to my house and help me find the blouse I misplaced? Glad you located what you were looking for!!! Hopefully you cut your strips the right length. That can be so frustrating when they are not the right size.
Worked this am….then had some matters to attend to at home. Now think I am going to go outside and read awhile, then come in and crochet when its too dark to read.
Hope everyone had a good day Ginny

Hello - Hope everyone is doing well today and having nice weather. It's in the high 80s and sunny here, maybe storms tomorrow. Phyl - Good luck with the Stripology pattern. I'm glad you were able to find the fabric and patterns for babies. Ginny - Hope you were able to do some crocheting. Ruth - Hope you are enjoying the knot bags. Sue - Hope you are well. The three new blocks for the quilt alongs came out today. I've already cut my fabric for the two Summer Camp and two Moda Blockhead blocks. I also made all the HSTs for the Summer Camp blocks and they are ready to be assembled. I'll do them first before the Moda Blockheads since I need to concentrate more on piecing with those. There's not much room for error in that little 5 inch block After I finish those 4 blocks, then I'll work on the Laundry Basket block which is another strip set but made into a "bargello type" block. I have to make 4 of them. I hope I can get everything done by the weekend. Take care everyone

Ginny, I was just doing that too...sitting outside but there were a lot of flies even though we had a fire in the fire pit and it was smoky. I gave up and came back in. I don't know which tool I have for flying geese but when I get to it I'll look. Yes I worked on the knot bag today. I'm making it with acrylic yarn to see how that works. It's sure easier to crochet the stitch I'm using with acrylic than the kitchen cotton.
CJ, once again you did an amazing amount of quilt work. After these three qal's are over you'll have three more beautiful quilt tops. Are you planning to make them into large quilts or into smaller things like wall hangings or table runners?
so now I guess I'll get back to crocheting. See you all tomorrow
