GOOD MORNING, I HAVE not done any quilting or cutting out. think I will work on my sewing room and the tv room in the basement. amazing what kind of messes we crafters can make when we don't know what to take with and not put things away.
getting mail at 8 pm is nothing new here. last night 2 mail trucks were going up and down the street, think they may have been subs or new people not sure.from what I have read and heard it started with the ex-president firing a bunch of sorters, now the P.O..is short of help and nobody wants to work.
that is a government job with a gs rating and they could work themselves up on the pay scale.I do know there is a number test they have to t
we have a new little baby boy in the neighborhood, born on the 21st,neighbors next door. so far do not know the name or weight..Molly was due on the 22nd,came a day early, little Mavis was a day early, born on halloween. she will be 3 this year.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It was in the 80s here today and sunny, I think the weekend will be warmer. I finished a lot of quilting projects today - I made both of the Moda Blockheads block and then added them into a setting block. I also finished the quilt top with the Adirondack chairs and I'm going to get the binding strips cut tomorrow to put them aside. I also finished the hand quilting project between yesterday and today. I'm so happy to finish that one, I've had it laying around for months. I was just ready to be done with it. I have it trimmed and ready for binding which I hope to do this weekend. I'll post some pictures this weekend, I didn't feel like dealing with Postimages this evening. Take care everyone

I didn't get here earlier so I thought I'd stop in now
CJ, wow, you got a LOT done. I'm looking forward to seeing the pictures. Our weather was the same as your's today
Yesterday I didn't get any crocheting done. My crafting was buying the two skeins of yarn and looking at yarn online. Today I started a new blanket. I love the pattern. It's an unusual stitch and is really pretty with the yarn the woman in the video used but I'm not using the same your. I'm using Mandala in the colorway "Spirit" I'll post a link tomorrow

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. We're finally getting some hot weather again - it's in the high 80s and sunny. My room darkening curtains and other treatments (homemade by me ) do help to keep the heat out. I'm still trying to see how long I can wait to turn on the portable AC unit downstairs The fan I have really does keep it fairly comfortable. I can't believe I've made it until almost the end of June without turning it on. Today I was able to get all the strips cut for this week's Laundry Basket quilt along and I hope I can get them sewn together tomorrow. There is quite a bit of tricky cutting and piecing with these so I want to take my time and be careful. I was also able to get the binding made and sewn onto the front of my hand quilted small quilt (38x38) and now I can start hand sewing it to the back. I really like to just machine bind all my quilts since they aren't heirloom pieces, they are just for fun. But I feel like the hand quilted ones should have the binding hand stitched down. Here are some pictures of my Moda Blockheads blocks (this week was the bowtie block), with the blocks put into my setting blocks and a picture of the Adirondack chair quilt top. I think I could quilt this one in a nice straight line diagonal stitch. I'll have to see if I get motivated to get it sandwiched and basted Hope you are all getting to do some crafting too. Take care

Good afternoon!!
CJ- you sure were productive!! The Adirondack chair quilt is sweet, hard to believe that just the other day you mentioned that you were short fabric. Yes, a nice diagonal stitch would be perfect on that quilt, if you are so inclined. I totally agree with your opinion to hand finish the binding on a hand quilted piece. It just seems right to put that work into hand quilting and then not hand finish the binding. The moda blocks are pretty- the bow tie design might be my favorite in that quilt, well of course I am not looking at the other blocks now so who knows? Nice job and so good to see the pictures. Yes, post images is not a ton of work, but still does take effort and sometimes I am not motivated to do that. You are a better woman than I am- I broke down last night and put the AC on. Its not nightmarishly warm, but sure warm enough. One of the few good things I can say about the warm sunny weather is that it allowed my laundry to dry super quickly !!
Phyl- congrats on the new little one in your area. Hope that mom and baby are doing well. Yes there are worker shortages everywhere, and its sad to hear that the postal service is suffering from that also. It puts that much more stress on the mail carriers who do show up. Very sad that people do not want who work any more.
Ruth, who is the new afghan for?? Glad you found a pattern that you like and that the directions are good to follow. Well, someone had to have a yarn sale…hope that your order arrives quickly so you can put that yarn to good use.
The sleepover with the little ones was fun and they were for the most part very good. I have pretty much gotten the house back into order after their visit. They wanted to stay a second night! I told them they could do that in 2 weeks, which fits in better with their plans.
Heading to church tonight….but before i go I am going to restore my sewing room so I can sew tomorrow. Ginny

CJ, thank you for putting in all to effort to show us your pictures. I love seeing them and marvel at the beautiful quilts and their colors. Yes if you hand quilt you should hand sew the binding. And yes your quilts are for your enjoyment so you definitely should do them the want you want to
Ginny, I'm glad to hear the little ones were fairly good for you last night. Children can be a llot of fun when they are behaving. Are you going to church to practice music or is there a special program tonight?
People in the crochet groups are alway mentioning hiding their yarn orders from their husbands or "partners". Well my dh mentioned that when he was putting in an Amazon order he saw some yarn that seemed to be a good price and asked me if I wanted some. Then he found another good buy on yarn so he got me both even though I have an extremely gigantic stash already. Oh the blanket I'm making is for my neighbor both as a prayer blanket and a thank you blanket. Despite the fact that he had a mastectomy about a month ago for breast cancer, when he saw us bringing out our lawn mower he immediately came over on his and helped dh with the mowing of our yard aka hay field due to us being gone so long
When I got up it actually felt cold. at 11 am it was only 58 but it did get up in the 70's

Hello Everyone - Hope you are having a good day and nice weather. It's in the high 80s here and I see on radar that some rain is out to the west so we might get some showers later. I finished making the blocks for the Laundry Basket Quilt Along today. They were a bit tricky, not really hard but you just had to pay attention to cutting and piecing. They were cut on the diagonal after strip piecing and then pieced back together. I'm just glad to be done with them. I hope this was the "hardest" week. We've almost made half of the 81 blocks. I also put some wonder clips on the binding for my hand quilted piece and hope I can finish sewing the binding before the end of this month. This quilt has been on my monthly goals sheet for several months, and I'd love to take it off. The problem is that it's so warm I don't want that quilt laying in my lap. I'll have to improvise something. I also started a new small crib-size quilt - I know, I just can't stop. This quilt only has 15 blocks and there is a lot of chain piecing you can do, since the pieces are large. When I bought the extra Adirondack chair fabric I saw the Etsy vendor was selling a fabric that is printed all over with nectarines. I just loved it so I bought a yard and I'm using it in this quilt. I hope to get the pieces all cut later today so I can start piecing it tomorrow. I already made two test blocks and I'm happy with them. I hope you all get to do some crafting today - take care

I went to church last night (the only church in my county that has a Saturday night service that is Protestant) so that I could watch DGS#3 as his parents got ready for his birthday party.
CJ- 81 blocks for a QAYG is quite an accomplishment….so many blocks and I am glad you are halfway done. Dont you love those wonder clips!!! And your crib sized quilt sounds adorable.
Ruth- your Dh has always seemed to encourage your “habit” of crocheting….and that is a lovely idea to make an afghan for your dear neighbor.
Busy day babysitting and helping out with the party. Looking forward to a nice quiet day tomorrow when I will finalize my plans for the veterans quilt for my DBIL- am picking up the fabric to accompany the panel on Tuesday G

CJ, getting half of the 81 blocks is a big accomplishment. Congratulations on that Yes we crafters are always seeing things we "need" to make. I bet that nectarine fabric is great. One of my favorite or maybe THE favorite is nectarines. It will make a very pretty and cute crib size q;uilt
Ginny, I'm sure your dd and sil really appreciate your help with the baby. Did they have a little cake for him to smear all over himself? Your brother is law will be speechless when you receives the quilt you're making for him. It's such a wonderful gift for someone who has served our country as he did
This blanket is going to take me awhile. I may have to set this one aside and make a faster one for the neighbor. It also uses a lot of yarn which is fine because I'm using that Mandala yarn in the Spirit colorway that my dh bought me about 20 cakes of. you all may or may not remember me saying that he saw it on sale so bought some then twice more the price went down even more so he bought more each time. This blanket even though a lap blanket will use a lot of it but since each cake has 590 yards you don't end up using a lot of the cakes. It will probably use only about two cakes and if I'm not going to give it to the neighbor I might make it bigger.
