Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Did you get the PMQ blocks made? I hope so. How many more months is there? Can you kind of tell what the pattern is going to be like yet? I did find a yard of the chair fabric on Etsy and bought it. I decided on the mixed up block layout and added another row - so the quilt will be 6 blocks across and 7 rows down. I'm going to add a few borders too once I get the fabric to finish the quilt top. You can see that all I needed was just one 8.5 inch square of the chair fabric - so close! But I'm glad I'll have some extra now to add a small border on the quilt. The first six rows are sewn together, I'll just need to add that block to the last row and sew that row on. I'm hoping to put together a few of the Moda Blockhead blocks for the layout I've decided on next, so I can see how I like them. I'd like to get them all done so I'm caught up and can make the larger block each week when I make the regular blocks. We're having nice weather again today, but a bit warmer. I really enjoyed having those cool breezy days right before the beginning of summer. I wish we could have a few of them each month, but I know that's not likely. Hopey you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

I was able to put together some of the Moda Blockheads larger blocks - these have both the large and small block with a few little setting blocks. There will be 30 blocks in all, so far I've done the 11 in the picture and I have a few more that I'm not sure if I want to use or not. The quilt along will have 36 blocks, so I'll need to pull 6 blocks that I won't use, so I'm being careful only to make the blocks I'm sure I want to use. At first I thought the quilt was just too busy with everything smashed together and that I might need sashing strips between the blocks, but I think I kind of like it all just pieced together like this. Hope you are all having a good day

CJ- I am so glad you were able to order more of the adirondack chair fabric! Gee you were so close to finishing it but now you can add borders. Its a bright and cheery quilt and you did such a nice job!!! Use your gut with the moda blockhead quilt….honestly the only person who has to be pleased with that quilt is you. I like the variety of blocks and you did such a nice job piecing them together. Perhaps you should try using the 6 blocks that you are not planning on using, just to see how they fit or do not fit in the quilt.
I agree, these cooler days and evenings have been so very nice and I really have enjoyed having a blanket on me.
I did some work in the garden today, and hopefully put some plastic lattice which should keep the critters out. We do need some rain to help and I will have to water the garden a bit in a day or so if it does not rain.
I did get to almost finish the PMQ blocks for this month, there are 4 identical blocks that I am almost done with. I made one small mistake which I need to rip out, and once that is repaired I only have 10 minutes of sewing to finish it all for the month.
Have a good night! Ginny

Hi Everyone - Hope you are doing well today Ginny - I'm glad you have almost finished your monthly blocks, you're ready for next month now Hope you enjoy spending time with your DGS and enjoying the nice weather. It's still not bad here. Ruth - Hope you are getting some crocheting done. Phyl - Hope you are getting some quilting done. Sue - Hope you are enjoying some nice weather. After all that sewing yesterday, I'm taking a break from the machine today and working on some hand quilting. I sure would love to finish up this small quilt I've been working on for months. I just need to push myself to get it done. I figure I only need about 3-4 hours of work on it. Wish me luck All my blocks are caught up so I'm ready for the new ones to come out tomorrow. I'm going to work on the Pat Sloan ones first since the 12.5 inch blocks are usually easy. I'll save the Moda and Laundry Basket ones for other days this week. I've spent some time today looking at quilts on the Internet again and found two patterns I'd like to make. I've realized that my goals now are to use fabrics I have that I've loved and want to see in a quilt, to use some of my pre-cuts and also to look for easy patterns for the fabrics and the pre-cuts. I'll never use all my fabric, but I sure would like to see some of them in a quilt top. Take care everyone

CJ- I am so happy for you! What a wonderful goal! You have accumulated fabric - now use your favorite fabrics! Good for you and I hope you find great quilt patterns to showcase the fabric.
I finished the blocks- and now cause grandkids are coming over I packed up all the sharp implements and covered my machine.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today It's warmer here today and we might get some storms this evening. Ginny - Did you enjoy having the grandchildren over? Hope you can get back to your quilting in the next few days. All three new blocks for the quilt alongs came out today, they aren't too bad this week. The Laundry Basket one is going to be one I have to take my time on. The Moda Blockheads is an applique block today, but they have an alternative pieced block which I'll do. I don't really like to do applique but I love seeing it in quilts. I had to go out this morning to run some errands so I don't think I'll do any quilting today. Going out really tires me out I did get one block hand quilted yesterday and I threaded more needles. I only have 6 blocks left to hand quilt. I noticed my thread it getting near the end. I sure hope I have enough to finish this quilt. Even if I could get all of them but one finished, I'd do one block with a different thread. I did find some of the thread to order on the Internet, but I'm hoping not to do that. Hope you are all having nice weather and getting to do some crafting. Take care

CJ- it is cool and damp here right now an some rain or drizzle is forecasted. Rain here tomorrow also, then the heat comes in. I am glad to hear that your blocks do not look terribly challenging for this week. Its nice to have an easy week or easier week. And Like you, applique is pretty to look at but brings me no joy in doing. I hope that you like the alternate pieced block. Believe me, I would be doing the same thing as you. And its absolutely ok to take a break from quilting! Come back refreshed and ready when you are able to. Hope you have just enough thread to finish that hand quilting project.
I also ran some errands and went to the store. By the time I got home, I did not want to quilt. I chose to clean up my crafting closet a bit, and looked for the blouse I am missing. Still did not find the bouse….but at least the closet is a tiny bit better. The grandkids come over Friday, but I know I will have little time to make sure that everything is put away that ought to be, which is why I took care of that already.
Hope everyone has a great evening!! Ruth, Sue and Phyl- hope that you are doing well and that we hear from each of you soon. Ginny

well now I can say that I was away since April 8th. I didn't post that here because it's a public message board and I didnt want the world to know that our house here was standing empty. One of our neighbors do that all the time by posting on facebook where she uses her whole real name with maiden and married name and she mentions where shes from so everyone that looked online could very easily find her address.Anyway it's great to be back home to a real house with all my yarn. I will sure miss my son and his family. I hope we can get there again fairly soon but again I won't mention it on any public forum. Mostly it's great to be away from all that humidity and all the ticks.
CJ, I was planning to have those same goals only with yarn and crochet patterns. I know I won't probably stick with it but I'll try. Problem is I have a ton of yarn....well I've said it before....but I end up with not really having enough of each of my types of yarn or colors to make what I want to make so I end up ordering .I ordered some while away but it was delivered to ds' house while he and his family were away and only got back a week before we left so I didn't have time to use it so had to leave it there to use next time. Restrictions of what we could take onboard the plane were tough for those of us using basic economy to save money but we found out that they really didn't seem to care what we brought onboard once we got there just like Ginny said when she went on a trip. Anyway CJ. I like the chair quilt. I've never seen one with chairs before but it's interesting and very pretty. And I agree with what Ginny said about the Moda block quilt. You make it how you like it and are happy with it. Personally I think it's great.
I have quite a list now of things to make. My youngest grandchild wants a dino, a snake and a shark....no he doesn't want a nice easy blanket like the others.I don't like making things that I have to sew parts on. YOu know how long it took me to do this last yoda. I may have said this before too but one of the grandaughters wants a chevron blanket and I really don't like chevrons but well that's what she wants so that will be what I make it.

Hello - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's in the high 60s here today and rainy. Ruth - I'm happy to hear you made it home safely and that everything was alright at your house - and that you had a wonderful time with family. I completely understand about not sharing information on a message board. I'm very careful about it too. Sounds like you have lots of projects ahead for family I have the same problem with having to order/buy more fabric for a specific project even though I have a lot. Ginny - Glad you were able to get your errands done and hope you can do some crafting today before the babysitting tomorrow Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting or something fun. I finished the two Summer Camp (Pat Sloan) blocks this morning, it was a nice easy block. I'm pretty happy with how these are coming along. And I had barely anything to trim on my blocks so I'm getting better at the 1/4 inch seam. I also cut fabrics for the Moda Blockheads blocks, but I'm not completely sure of my fabric choices yet. I'll try to work on those tomorrow. Then it will be the Laundry Basket blocks which I need to really be focused to make. I received the extra Adirondack chair fabric today, that was a quick delivery from the Etsy dealer. I hope to get that quilt top finished soon too. I bought another yard of fabric too, it's all nectarines. I'm trying to think of something I can do with it. Here are a few pictures to share - take care and have a good day I wish the floral fabric in these blocks showed up better, it's much prettier in person:

Hi CJ good to see you. The blocks are beautiful and you did a great job. I'm happy to hear that you had very little trimming to do and that you're getting better with 1/4 inch seem.Without a guide I know I'd be all over the place
Just got back from shopping a little while ago. Now I have a beef roast and carrots in the slow cooker.
Oh and while at Walmart I did buy two more skeins of yarn that I needed in that color to make dgd's afgan which is that ripple. Red heart has no dye lot number on their RHSS but they need to. The two skeins I picked up first were supposed to be the same color but they not the same. One skein was lighter than the other, I hope I have enough
I'll bbl to see how everyone is
