Good morning and Happy Monday!
All crafters are welcome here as we discuss crafting, life and our weight loss journey. Crafting includes actual hands on crafting, such as crochetting, knitting, sewing, quilting, needlepoint, painting, jewelry making, etc.....plus reading craft catalogs, craft blogs, watching craft you tubes or other crafting videos, chatting here about crafting, chatting with another person about crafting, reading craft emails, thinking about crafting, organizing crafting supplies, going into craft stores or the craft aisle in a store , attending craft fairs,or any other activity that inspires or directs your mind toward a crafting activity- even visiting us here to join in our posts!! There are plenty of days in which the closest we get to crafting is a visit here, so even if you have no time to craft, we would love to hear from you. We welcome newcomers to our friendly discussion! So glad you are here!! Please feel free to stop in and say hello!!

Happy Monday!!!
Ruth, is this chevron afghan what you are making for your kind neighbor? It must be a pretty pattern, or you would not be committing to it this much. I hear ya, it sure helps when you count, for me there are some patterns that I have to make sure I count each row, otherwise I am ripping out a ton of times. How are you feeling? Hope you are drinking the water you need to stave off dehydration.
I have a doctors appointment shortly but should be home very quickly. I hope to correct the cutting issue I made yesterday and get busy on those cornerstone star point blocks.
BBL! Ginny

Good morning Ginny and all. I hope you get good news at your doctor, Ginny. I also hope you'll be able to correct the blocks easily. No this chevron is for my grandaughter. She picked the pattern and colors.
It's cooler here today but the inside of the house is still pretty warm. I need to open the door and let the cooler air come in through the screendoor but I don't like having the door open.
See you all later

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's in the low 80s and sunny here, but the humidity is low. Ginny - I hope you are able to correct the cutting issue and that your doctor's appointment went well. Ruth - I'm happy to hear you're chevron afghan is going faster now, but that is still a lot of rows to make! Phyl and Sue - Hope you are getting to do some crafting. I went out to run errands this morning, so I don't expect I'll do any crafting today. I did get the pieces cut for the nine patch blocks yesterday. I still need to piece them together, and hope to have that done by tomorrow. These are for the Oh Say Can You Sew quilt along. I also pulled out some leftover fabrics from a fat quarter bundle I used last year for one of Pat Sloan's quilt along, and I think I have enough material to use this for the rest of the blocks for the Moda Blockheads quilt along. I'll try them with the block this week and see what I think. They are spring-like colors - coral, green, lilac and a bit of yellow and white. It will be nice if I can use them. I saw something really unusual this morning when I was out. I was following a car and I could see something laying up in the back window. When I got closer to the car, I realized it was a cat sitting there looking out the window! I don't think I've ever seen a cat riding loose in a car like that. It was interesting Take care everyone!

CJ, yes those pesky errands really can cut into our crafting time. Well a cat is not a pet that a person would just tell to hop in the car and go for a ride. Here people always seem to have dogs in their cars or in the backs of pickup trucks. I've never seen anyone with a cat in the car or pickup truch. I guess is they were taking the cat to a vet it would be in a car but maybe in a pet carrier.I hope you'll be able to use that left over fabric that you mentioned.
Our temp is in 80's here also and I bet our humidity is about the same as yours since you said it's low. Ours is 24% right now which is high for us for this time of year.
I just finished making homemade mac and cheese, cooked some sausages and made a graham cracker crust lemon pie. We'll have food made for a couple of days now. I think that maybe some pickled beets might be good with it but I probably won't make those because I'm pushing my luck with the bladder problem because of the lemon in the pie. Speaking of pie, I ate like a pig while on my trip. Thought for sure I gained about 10 lbs but I actually lost three pounds. I keep saying this altitude makes a person gain weight.I have to be really careful about the amount I eat here or I gain.I wasn't careful at all while away.Well maybe a little but I did eat a lot

hi, Ruth, it is hard to try and be good traveling,I always come back with a gain.
this am our computer got hacked, they sure were trying, they were trying to subscribe to a pono magazine.Don was on the phone about 11.30 till I don't know how long.. the guy he talked to was trying to be very kind, hard to understand with hearing aids when they have broken English.
I had to leave for my appointments myself, little nerve racking driving when you haven't driven for a long time.
appointments were good, diabetic nurse and my nuturtionist. I am now trying a ankle size compression sock on my left ankle.this is the ole Arthur has made a new home in my body.
after I go home I had to call my cc to see if there were any ileagal activity only, no all is ok.for some reason the guy kept Asking questions And Don said goodbye. this guy was a real tech. phyl

Good morning!!
Ugh- Phyl, I am so sorry that your computer was hacked.Good thing it was caught without any damage being done. And yes, its important to keep driving skills up if you can and it is safe to do so. My DSIL (who has COPD) does not drive much anymore, and I remember took some practice runs before she actually had to drive herself again. And, some accents are difficult to translate into a meaningful sentence even without hearing aids. Glad that your appointments went well!!
CJ- hope that you like the addition of different fabrics into the moda blockheads quilt. Always nice to be able to use up fabrics that you have anyway. Many years ago when I was in college, I had adopted a cat- an interesting fellow. I did purchase a cardboard cat carrier so I could bring him home at the end of the semester- the cat chewed open the ventilation holes and by the time I was half way home, the cat was roaming in the car on a major road. I have had one cat (who I had to put down 2 years ago) who I would let out of the carrier when I was almost home from a visit to the vet. But he was an inside /outside cat….and of course I let him out of the car once we got home. I never would have allowed a cat to sit in the back window..it must have been funny for you to see!!!
Ruth, sorry I messed up that the chevron afghan was for DGD. Yum- good thing that you got all that cooking done. Bet its so nice to have your full kitchen back again after your trip. Guess you must have been more active when on vacation- what a great thing that you did not gain any weight but actually lost!!
Busy day yesterday….and this same goes for today. I will be back later on today, and it might be much later. The heat is supposed to be a factor today, and I hope that we do get some of the rain that is predicted. I went for a walk last night and the stream I passed by was very dry.
See ya later! Ginny

Phyl, so sorry your computer got hacked. It's a lot of frustration trying to get things straightened out before any damage is created by the hacker.
Ginny, no problem about you thinking this chevron was for the neighbor. I'm sure you have enough of your own things to remember without remembering all my projects. And I had to laugh when you said I was probably more active while gone. I had every intention of being active but between the ticks and my bladder issue I pretty much failed on that intention. I mostly sat and crocheted. Standing and walking brought on the severe bladder pain so I did as little as possible. You mentioned that you're having another busy day. While CJ and I might be busy at home with our crafting you and Phyl have a lot of outside the home activities.
I've been seriously thinking about joining a CAL. As if I didn't have enough projects going at the same time! It's not a mystery one. I'd never join one of those because they most likely wouldn't be something I wanted to make and ended up wasting my time. There was one recently that was a mystery one and at the end it turned out that what they were making was a very weirdly shaped stuffed cat. It was very ugly. This one is a Christmas afghan with a lot of bobble stitches being used to create various things such as trees, stars and other Christmasy things. It was done in two color by the designer but one person posted her starting section done in one color with sparkly yarn and I had an aha moment when I remembered that I have a box full of sparkly yarn...RH With Love yarn in metallic. So that will be my 5th in progress projects (I won't mention how many unfinished ones I have besides the works in progress)

HI, oh yeah,I have seen cats riding in cars, working at MCD'S drive-thru every so often people would be moving and the cats would be in cars.ONE time a couple stopped at The window and had a few cats in the car and inthe carthey wer pulling.
every time Nancy and mike moved they had 1-2 cats in the car and also moved 2 auarirumins.don sister moved 4 cats from AZ and their dd moved 12. DON'S would say going into dgd home you never smelled cats.
I called and already have an appointment Thursday for this ankle. wonder what he would ,injection or maybe a boot ,tell me to keep wearing this ankle compression sock?
I HAVE NOT MADE IT DOWN STAIRS YET,WAS PLANNING ON THIS EARLY AM.PHYL

Good afternoon, Phyl- great news that you have gotten an appointment for your ankle. Hope that whatever therapy is chosen for it that it works, and is comfortable- not making your life miserable. Is the doctor a far drive from you? What did you and Don decide to do regarding the bus trip?
Ruth, go for it!! I would join the CAL- sounds like you already have the yarn and i would think with many others participating, the pattern is vetted and you would be able to assist others in a discussion about pattern glitches.

I just noticed that it looked like I had not posted yesterday - but I did- so I wanted to see if it came through or not.
Anyway Ruth, think the CAL is a great idea- always nice to craft together and you stand a greater chance of completing the project that way. Or at least I think so. Funny I figured that with the grandkids near you might have been more active, so sorry I made a wrong assumption. You had mentioned your bladder acting up, and I hope its in remission now. And the ticks? Boy I respect that!!! I dislike being on the grass in my yard because of them. Would much rather be on the deck or inside, where there are no ticks.
Taught study last night, which I guess went ok. Its hot, so I have gone for my walk but will be inside the rest of the day. I might head to get bananas, but come to think about it will do that tomorrow after I am at work. Think I will have lunch and then get back to work on the panel quilt and get the corner blocks made. Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well, sounds like everyone is busy It is very hot here today, high 80s and sunny. We had bad storms last evening and it cut off my internet and cable, which didn't come back on until late this afternoon. Since I couldn't sit on the Internet , I worked on some quilting. I was able to finish the center portion of my Moda Blockheads quilt and I just have to add the outer border on now. I'm really happy to finish that and I think I'll work on it before I make any of the weekly blocks that came out today. Looks like all two of the patterns for this week are pretty easy, the Moda one looks a bit difficult. I changed my mind about the fabrics I thought I'd use for it and I'm using them in another quilt instead. I did pull some more fabrics, so I'll try the block in them and see if I like them. Hope your weather is nice and that you are getting to do some crafting. Take care

Ginny, feel free to make any assumptions. Normally a person would be more active when around children. Actually on the last full day before we left we were at my ds' house from the day before and I went for a walk with the two youngest which are my two youngest grandchildren. Those little boys have way more energy than I do and I had to sit and rest before we finished the walk. They thought that was odd I think but it was uphill and a lot of exercise for me. I had planned to get in a lot of exercise while there but it didn't work out. We don't have ticks near our home here. There there were loads of them and even on our concrete patio ticks ended up on us. Some that we found on our bodies looked suspiciously like deer tick nymphs. The first ones were lone star ticks which don't really cause any problem but we suddenly realized that the ticks toward the end of our trip were different.
CJ, sorry about your loss of internet. I was very lost without mine but I did learn more about texting while I had no internet. I also found a computer game that didn't need internet and played that a LOT. I played it so much I never want to play it again.. Anyway it sounds like you definitely put the time to good use. And one thing about crafting projects is that they can evolve over the time you're doing them. You are very good at realizing a different way or different fabric might be a better option.
I've been crocheting much of the day today. Yesterday our coffee maker bit the dust but luckily we had a spare in the garage so I got that and scrubbed it all clean, vinegar watered it then ran a cycle with plain water. Rinsed again and made coffee so that took some time.
It's looking like rain here but if we do get any I know it won't be much. As "they" say, we need the moisture

Good morning!! I got off to a late start yesterday..I slept late (but not all that well). But that set the day for me to not accomplish much. I did watch a movie on Prime (got a free month of it) which is something I do not usually do. And called my DSIL in Florida to see how she and DBIL are doing. (They are fine)
Had all my plans to get those corner stone blocks done last night, but then DD and her family stopped over and that put an end to those plans. I did get the HST’s cut (remember I had originally cut them in the wrong size, but took care of that yesterday). Started sewing them together, and then called it a day. I slept poorly last night- have to get my body clock reset and hopefully can sleep well tonight. And yes, we need rain where I am.
Ruth, so glad you have an appliance store in your garage….hope that this coffee maker lasts a long time and I am sure its good to have one less thing in the garage. if I am reading correctly, ticks in your area are not a problem- a good thing. They are nasty little critters and carry even more nasty illnesses.
CJ- sounds like a good plan to finish off the moda quilt. Of course try out all the fabrics you are considering- I am sure you will make something that looks great!! Glad your internet is back, which I bet was super frustrating.
Phyl- your sweet Don….nice that he will take him to the quilt show- I know you will enjoy it if and when you go!
Ginny
