Ruth, I am jealous…. 75 degrees is a pleasant temperature and certainly cooler than the 95 degrees I am facing here. That stinks that the yarn manufacturers have reduced the amount of yarn in a skein. So frustrating if you are working on an old pattern that called for a single skein and now have to buy additional yarn because a skein is not a skein anymore. The snake sounds very colorful, and I know DGS will love it. Red heart is easy to work with and comes in great colors- also budget friendly.
I have gotten though this day. I did get a nice walk in and got a lot of housecleaning done this am, along with a load of wash. One of the few things nice about 95 degree weather is that the laundry dries outside in 2 hours! (Why pay for electricity to use a dryer in this heat). I did get the backing and batting cut for the panel quilt. Guess tomorrow I will put it all together and start quilting. G

Actually Ginny, you misread what I wrote...well maybe i didn't write it correctly...anyway it looks like since Yarnspirations took over Red Heart that there is MORE yardage on a skein and thats a very good thing because even though solid colors had 307 yards the variegated had even less! So now I can use less skeins for my project. I haven't bought any with love recently though so don't know if that is still the case but I'm going to look it up to see. I really like Red Heart With Love because it's softer.
I'm glad you were able to get things done while it was cooler. Our temp is up now but still below 90. How is your garden holding up?

Hello Everyone Phyl - I hope that you and your DH enjoy the reunion. Ginny - I'm glad you survived the heat. Ruth - I'm glad it's cooler there. It is hot here again today, 90s and sunny, tomorrow is supposed to be hotter. The heat in the house makes me irritable I finished the Laundry Basket blocks this morning, there were only four of them and it is a pretty block. I'll try to post a picture soon, I don't feel like fooling with postimages today. I also picked out the purple fabrics to make my blocks for the monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge. I was surprised how few purple scraps I had. I really love that color but I guess I just haven't been using it much the last few years. I hope to get those blocks made tomorrow morning. That will just leave the monthly strip blocks that I make. If I get those done by the end of the month I'll be happy, but I've already decided I'm not going to press myself to get them done. Have a good evening and stay cool

Had a lovely post all set to go and thanks to a power surge, lost internet connection and my post went with it!!
CJ- would love to see the laundry basket quilt pics when you get a chance. (Yes I know how frustrating using post images can be, its easy to use but just one more step that sometimes I do not want to take). Its good to hear that you are pleased with how these last blocks turned out. Sometimes when crafting (for any number of reasons) the final execution of the project is not what was hoped for. Its a joy to hear that this project turned out well for you. Hang in there- think today is the last day of the extreme heat for us, I am assuming that your weather pattern is following what is predicted for me.
Ruth, well my mistake. Guess I wanted to see that the yarn also suffered from shriinkflation. Its good to hear that you actually are getting more yarn! Wonder if yarnspirations will market in the same places at RH did, and if they will change RH with love at all? Hope not. We do get used to a certain quality and it would be frustrating if you were not able to ge the yarn you wanted. Guess another problem would be if they change colors- so that if you were looking for another skein of a certain standard color, and they changed that color.
Went outside and its rough to be outside- very humid. My AC has already started, and did so before 7 am. Guess its going to be a good day to stay inside. My garden? I will take a look at the one at ground level- have not been there in a few days because its been so uncomfortable. On the deck I will have green beans ready to pick in a few days, and the lettuce is great in that I can just go out and take what I want anytime.
Phyl- hope your travel day went well and the reunion was fun for you and DH.

Well right now here it's 72 degrees. I hope both of you will get some of these cool temps soon. Today, so far, I don't even need the fan let alone a/c. So now I have no excuse so have to do a little work. I should do outdoor work but I'm going to do some house cleaning instead
Phyl, I hope your travels went well
CJ, we're all looking forward to seeing the new blocks but we do understand that sometimes (well ok all the time) all those steps to get the pictures posted can be a real pain in the neck.
Ginny, having those veggies right there on the deck is a really good idea. Yes you can just step outside and harvest what you want. There are many people complaining about RHSS, well for many reasons, but because the colors have no dye lots there's really no way of knowing that you're going to get the exact color again. Since RH was not only taken over by Yarnspirations but the yarn made in different country, people have found that if they still have old RHSS or RHWL the new doesn't match. Personally, I haven't noticed any problem.
Well I'd better get back to my "chores" then I can work on this shark some more. There's a lot of increasing and decreasing of course and it's all sc so it takes time but I plan to have at least all the parts done today. Last evening I intended to work on the Christmas afghan but never actually got to it. I was working again on cleaning out my online crochet pattern files. I have to shake head in wonder sometimes because I have patterns in my files that really are nothing I would ever want to make and don't know why I ever downloaded them

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ginny - Hope you enjoy those fresh vegetables. I need to get out to a local market and get some this summer. Hope the heat doesn't bother you too much. Ruth - I'm glad you are having some cooler weather. Hope you are able to work on the shark some today. I have so many patterns saved up too. I know I'll never make them either. Phyl - Hope you had a great day yesterday. Sue - Hope you are doing well, I would love to hear from you if you have time to post. It's very hot here today and sunny, I'm glad that I don't have to go outside for anything. I finished my monthly Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks this morning, all except for the strip set blocks I do (but I have them all set and ready to piece). This month was purple and I'm pretty happy with my blocks. I did have one small problem with the log cabin block again, I don't know why that one trips me up each month - it's so easy to make - must be me Here are some pictures of my purple blocks and the blocks from the Laundry Basket quilt along this week. I would love to make this block using some of my civil war reproduction fabrics, so maybe I'll do that sometime. Take care everyone!

Cj- think those blocks would be stunning in civil war reproduction fabrics. They came out very well in the fabrics you used. Bet you are glad you are done with them!!
Ruth, thanks for the info on red heart yarns….that is a bummer that they are now made somewhere else and with less consistency. Sure makes it harder for crafters to know what they are working with. If there is no reliable color from skein to skein. Think they will find that they lose customers - what a shame.
Well, got my quilt sandwich put together, and then tried to start quilting. My tension disks seem to be loose and I do not know how to repair that….so I gave up for now and will call Joanns tomorrow and see when I can have it serviced. I was planning on heading up to that area this week anyway- Hope that maybe its a minor tweak and that it can be looked at in the store.
Another Monday awaits….. ginny

Ginny, I"m sorry to hear that there's a problem with your sewing machine. I'd like to think that high quality machines like you have would go for years without any problem. I, too, hope that it's a minor thing that can be adjusted or repaired easily and swiftly. Well at least you have the sandwich done. Oh and I did forget that when I was in Walmart recently I picked up two skeins of RHSS in the saffron colorway. I got over to where dh was shopping and realized that the two didn't match even though both were the same color.Back to the yarn isle (such as it is) and got one that matched. Well this shark pattern is interesting. It's very simple until you get to the mouth and then starts to get complicated and the designer, who had pictures of other parts of the shark being stitched, had none for this part where you could REALLY use some picture tutorials of what she's talking about... also on that very back fin. I'll get it done but it's not going to be my best work.So I've decided that I'm done with him for today and maybe tomorrow i'll finish it although I have a yarn order coming so may have to take time out to play with my new yarn

CJ, as we all knew they would be, your pictures are beautiful. I especially love the second from the top in the purples! I don't know what the reproduction fabric is but I have a picture in my mind of what I think it is and I do think your quilt will be great in those fabrics
