Hello Ruth - I hope you are feeling better today. Ginny - Hope you made some progress on the binding. Sue and Phyl - Hope you are doing well It's much cooler here and cloudy, nice to have a break from setting up and running the portable AC. I finished making all my blocks for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge, and I've been working on layouts for the quilts. They are not coming out like I thought they would I need to make two more blocks for one of them so I'll have 20 blocks instead just 18, so that one is pretty easy. I figured out that my brick blocks I've been making don't really look great together so I'm adding those to my bag of orphan quilt blocks. I hope one day to make some quilt tops using these blocks. The half log cabin blocks still drive me a bit crazy, but I have 9 of them and I'm going to sash them and lay them out in rows of 3. I still need to figure out the layout for the keyhole blocks. Finally, the strip sets I've been making with just the leftover fabrics, turned out to be the easiest to figure out and I think it might end up looking the best. It's kind of ironic because I was just goofing around making those I've also decided to officially drop out of the Oh Say Can You Sew quilt along. I'll still check out the clues, but I think I'm going to take the blocks I've made and make 2 or 3 quilt tops out of them. I just didn't see the point in continuing if I wasn't going to follow along with the pattern. I also started cutting the fabrics for the Melodic Melody Mystery Quilt Along. There sure are a lot of pieces in this quilt, but it's just a monthly quilt along, so I should be able to keep up alright. Then I'll just have this one and the Moda Blockheads which ends in September. Pat Sloan has a new quilt along coming up but I'm not sure if I can do it or not. I guess I'll have to see how I feel in September. Hope you all are having nice weather and getting to do some crafting. Take care!

Hope everyone had a great day! Its almost always quiet here on Mondays and then gets busy later on.
Had a lot of time with the grandkids today, so I didn’t get as much done on the panel quilt as I had hoped. I did get a good start on the hand sewing and I hope to have it finished in a day or two. Got some sort of decent weather now, at least it’s not super hot.
We sure could use a gentle rain.

Happy new week all. it's a fairly cool day compared to how it has been but still feels hot to me. I haven't got much more done on the blanket but I did get a few rows done. CJ, I'm glad you've been able to arrange your list of "todo" so that you're more comfortable with what you have to do by certain times. Thank you for saying you hope I feel better. I feel better than I did the last few days but still have issues so I made an appointment for seeing the doctor for dh and me. The doctor wanted to see my dh again in August anyway so he's actually a little late on that. It was just to have his A1c checked which shouldn't require a doctor visit and to set up PT for him which also doesn't require a doctor visit but whatever. I always go in when he has his appoinment so they make our visits at the same time.( see, Ginny, I made a doctor appointment, are you amazed Ginny, I hope you're having a good day. It's almost time for school to start and it doesn't seem like you had much time off even while school was over for the summer. I heard on tv that there is a serious shortage of both bus drivers and teachers

CJ- our paths crossed….good to see you here. I have to smile that the strip set blocks are appearing to your liking. We know that you like more organized blocks with planned color schemes, and that block is sort of leaving your comfort zone a bit. Ever wonder who comes up with all the neat names for quilt alongs?? And I hope that the fall Pat Sloane quilt along is to your taste. You seem to really like her designs.

Ruth, I have had very little time off for myself this summer you are so right. And I am very glad you are going to see the doctor. You did not sound like yourself recently and I admit I was concerned

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today and having nice weather. It's a pretty sunny day here, around 80 degrees with a nice breeze. Ruth - I hope your doctor's appointment goes well, and the same for your DH Ginny - Hope you have been able to work on your binding Phyl and Sue - Hope you are doing some crafting I finished cutting all the material for the Melodic Melody Mystery quilt along, sure were a lot of pieces! Many of them were 7/8th measures, which are hard to cut. I guess she's more of an exact block pattern writer than some that have you make the blocks larger and trim. I'm better at doing that, so we'll see how this quilt along goes I also made the other two blocks I needed for one of my Rainbow Scrap quilts and cut the fabrics for sashing and borders for two of those quilts. So now I'm ready to do a lot of sewing piecing these tops together. I'll just take them one at a time and hopefully they will get done pretty quickly. Take care everyone!

CJ,those are beautiful fabric and will work great together. It seems like you like all aspects of quilting but now are going to be able to sit at your machine and get a lot of your planned work done. It sounds like you had pleasant weather. Ours was a little hotter but at least wasn't in the nineties. I could deal with having 70's all year round.
Ginny, I hope you're able to get your beautiful panel quilt completely done soon and will be able to get it in the mail. then you can sit back and wait for all the complements to come your way. Of course men aren't real good and ooo's and ahhh's but I'm sure he'll be thinking them
I felt well enough to go out and do a little grocery shopping today and get everything put away and now am tired. I did a little on the blanket but it was very little so I have to get busy on that. I will do a few rows the rest of this evening.
Both of you may already be sleeping so hope you have a good night's sleep.
Sue and Phyl, I hope you both are doing well too

Good afternoon, Ruth, its good to hear that you are feeling a bit stronger, and were able to get some grocery shopping done and put the groceries away. That is a lot of work, and is not one of my favorite household jobs. Did you have the energy left to do a few rows of crochetting? CJ’s fabrics shown above do a good job of how fabric selection can work. She has the larger floral print and smaller prints, plus a solid that draw their colors from the floral. (I know in the past you have said that you stink at fabric selection, but I am sure you would do fine if you tried).
CJ- that is a lot of cutting but its all out of the way now! I hope that the piecing goes smoothly for you, and that you are pleased with the results of the pattern! Happy Sewing!! Yes the temperatures are more normal now and at least its not so very very hot.
got my walk in this am and after I take the laundry out of the dryer I hope to get back to work on the quilt. Think I am bout a quarter way done with the hand sewing. I did get to another quilt shop yesterday (its a long drive from my house) and bought a felt ornament kit. Jane does that a lot, and it seems easy with pretty results. I picked up a simple kit, to see how it goes. Like I needed another project to work on !
Phyl and Sue hope you are both doing well. Ginny

Hello Ruth - Glad you were feeling well enough to get out, hope you are doing well today too. Ginny - I'm sure it was nice to walk in the cooler weather. I'm glad you were able to visit a quilt shop and pick up the ornament kit. I went out this morning for groceries and some other shopping, so that pretty much wipes me out for the day The new Moda Blockheads block pattern came out today, so I might try to make that tomorrow. Otherwise not much going on with me, just wasting time on the Internet. Hope you all are well and getting to do some crafting.

Hello everyone. I'm glad to see Ginny and CJ and hope that Sue and Phyl are doing well.
Ginny, yes I'm not good at picking fabrics or colors. My current blanket, though, looks great even if I say so myself
I did a few rows today and will do some later also. I took time out to do a little work on my houseplants. It's strange because we were going over 2 1/2 months and I had no one come in and water plants. I expected that they would all be dead when we got back. Strangely they were doing great. Since we got home I've watered and cared for them but my Norfolk Is Pine just suddently died off. I must have bought this plant at least 20 years ago when it was mostly a twig in one of those tiny pots they sell plants in at Walmart at Christmas time that you can give as cheap gifts. I've managed to get it through several bouts of drying needles and needles that turn yellow and it finally got to a good size and now, boom, sudden death. So since I was taking care of disposing of it I did some work on other plants also.
I just found out that my ds' two oldest children who are young adults have covid. I guess they aren't feeling well at all but being young and healthy I'm sure they'll do ok.
Speaking of covid I decided to get some more at home test kits so signed up for the free ones and found out they send you 8 a month. I don't know what in the world I'll do with all those test kits. Waste of taxpayer money, We left the ones we had in Indiana so all I wanted was 4 more.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today. It's in the mid 80s here and sunny. I think they said it's not humid, but I haven't been outside yet today to check. Ruth - I'm sorry to hear about your Norfolk Pine, you had it a long time It's amazing the other plants all survived. It seems like they base those kits on people that work and that are around a lot of people at home/work. I sure don't need 8 tests, I've never used the first 4 they sent out for free I hope your family members get better soon. I finished my Moda Blockheads block today and made a few of the sashing strips, I'd like to get more of them done so I can start sewing them onto the blocks. There are only 6 blocks left to make. I also put the borders on my Secret Lives of Color blocks (they are shoofly blocks) and I'm happy with it being done. I think I'd definitely need a label on this quilt if I ever finish it because I can imagine someone looking at it and thinking what on earth made you put those fabrics together like that Hope you all get to do some crafting. Take care!

Hi all.
CJ I really like your work that's pictured above. The top one is the Moda blockhead? I'm losing track of which is which. Anyway I would never have thought those colors would work together but they sure do. It's beautiful. The second one is also. I haven't been outside either but it is warmer than predicted. Tomorrow our high is to be 80 but we'll see.
My plan for today was to do some rearranging of my yarn. I've walked in there twice today and felt like I was being smothered in yarn so came back out. Then I went back and straightened out one shelf but now I don't know what to do with the yarn I took off that shelf. Tomorrow is another day. I really do have to refrain from buying any more yarn. I've also been working on the prayer blanket and if I keep going I might be finished with the body of it today.I took it downstairs last evening to work on it but then got distracted and never even picked it up.
Ginny, I hope you're having a good day and also Sue and Phyl
