Steph,Thanks for the tip on the ice.I don't blame you for not getting out today when you didn't have to. Unfortunately I was out of almost veggie I needed for my salads so we went to HEB after Curves today.I asked the produce lady if she enjoyed her one day off yesterday and she said every minute of it.At least they weren't so busy today.
Connie,Thanks for your tip on the ice as well.Austin also hit a record for high temps for today. It was 84 at Camp Mabry and 85 at ABIA.It was the warmest highs for today in the 120 yr history of recording temps in Austin.A high of 70 sounds wonderful for tomorrow.I hope it stays at that.I don't mind temps in the 70's but 80's are just too hot for Dec.
Sandy,I agree.I couldn't wait until the 1st to get back on track and I didn't get that far off although I have gained a little in the last week.I'm sure you are glad Christmas is over.Enjoy your w/o in the morning.
We need to buy feed for the cattle in Elgin tomorrow but I think after that we may head to Bastrop for awhile.I don't go back to Curves until Wednesday so tomorrow will be a good day to run around.
My back was feeling better after a hot shower but it's beginning to hurt a little again.I still had some Excedrin for Migraines left so I finally resorted to that and it seemed to help some.If it still hurts tomorrow after we get home I will try the ice.

BECKY I you and I have about the same haircut. I like it....but..... maybe it's the photo but.. what is your weight now? You're looking pretty much as thin as you need to be. I know your weight has continued to drop but soon (NOW?) isn't it time to add calories to maintain? I know you're concerned about putting the weight back on and I get it but we don't want you to get sick is all.
As for ice v heat... in my personal experience if there's SWELLING, then cold is the way to go. it helps alleviate swelling. But if it's muscular and no swelling, i find more relief from an ibuprofen or Alleve and heat. Even better if you can do moist heat. I think the heat penetrates better than ice and it eases muscle spasms. Feel better soon.
hahaha STEP you know my feelings about chiropractors. If they say ICE I'd go with heat and vice versa. Now if a physical therapist said ice? I'd go w/ ice. The thing about ice, it contracts the blood vessels and therefore there is less blood flow (which helps stop swelling). But if the muscle is spasming, blood flow is usually beneficial. Another school of thought is ice followed by heat. Heat increases blood flow and eases muscle tightness.
This is from an article from painscience.com
Ice is for injuries — calming down damaged superficial tissues that are inflamed, red, hot and swollen. The inflammatory process is a healthy, normal, natural process … that also happens to be incredibly painful and more biologically stubborn than it needs to be. Icing is mostly just a mild, drugless way of dulling the pain of inflammation… we hope.1 Examples: a freshly pulled muscle or a new case of IT band syndrome (which is more likely to respond than the other kind of runner’s knee, patellofemoral pain, because ITBS is superficial and PFPS is often a problem with deeper tissues).
Heat is for muscles, chronic pain, and stress — taking the edge off the pain of whole muscle spasms and trigger points, or conditions that are often dominated by them, like back pain and neck pain), for soothing the nervous system and the mind (stress and fear are major factors in many chronic pain problems, of course).
Hence I vote for heat.
Connie yes Bob and I both had hangovers (same couple's house) or at least headaches when we woke up. But what we drank then.... multiply it by 2. SLurred speech and all. Now THAT'S really spitfaced. ALSO Bob is on antibiotics for cellulitis which may have made his reaction to alcohol magnified. Personally I don't drink when I'm on abx but he's a grown up. Sort of.
SANDY Suze and I are both talking about almost looking FORWARD to getting back in gear. Diet and activity wise. No sense waiting, esp since I have no big NYEve plans that revolve around food or drink. Heck I have no NYEve plans at all!
Suze and I had a great visit but.... don't tell her I said this.... SHE CHEATS AT CHICKEN FOOT Bob will tell you! We went to Studio Movie Grill and saw Collateral Beauty. It's a movie that kind of stays with you. Bittersweet and there was lots of sniffling going on in the theater. But it's actually a lovely movie. I highly recommend it.
My house is a wee bit of a mess. My housekeepers won't even be able to clean up around all the clutter. But I am going to bed soon and I have to be at my CPA at 10:30 so they'll have to work around it. Usually my house is very clean when they come and the lead on the team had suggested I go to every other week. But knowing they're coming weekly helps keep ME in line so I don't let the house go too crazy.
So off to bed in a few. Night all.

Celeste,My stylist left my hair a little longer in back than I usually keep it b/c she said it looked better on me and I agree it does.I love the cut so if we have the same cut we are both happy with our cuts.LOL on losing too much weight.I had lost a little more than I had planned last week when I got down to 139.2 but I'm back up to 142 today with the IBS and the fluid retention from not being on BP meds until I get used to that I guess.I hope to get back to 140 but if that doesn't happen I will be happy with this.I'm not really trying to lose anymore but when my IBS acts up I don't get hungry and don't get in all my SP(well I rarely get them all in but some days I can get more than others). The weight has all come out of my face but I still have my hips.I'm still eating healthy and I have really learned to enjoy that but I found when I veer off just the slightest now my tummy starts telling me about it.I feel good except for tummy and back issues right now and I'm keeping track of my BP to make sure it doesn't get too low and that sodium isn't making it go too high also. Thanks for your concern.I really mean it b/c even my NP said there's such a thing as being too thin. This is the longest I have ever been able to wear a size 10.My scale went wonky on me this morning and according to it I weighed 117(as if)so I weighed a couple of more times b/c I always like to get the same weight twice and it was back to almost a 3 lb gain.
Thanks for the article on heat.Tomorrow after we get back from Bastrop if we go I will try heat(maybe even moist heat)if it's still hurting. It's definitely not swollen or inflamed.I may have pulled something but it felt like a cramp or a catch when I got up.It may even be this recliner b/c it seems to recline farther and is harder than it used to be.I'm pretty sure something I did at Curves hurt it more like the stretching cage b/c on one stretch I could feel it in my back.I found some old Excedrin for migraines I had and it helped some. After a hot shower it felt really good but is starting to hurt a little. If it gets too bad I can always take Aleve PM and it will help me sleep anyway.I did have Kenneth put some Bio Freeze on it this afternoon but it didn't do much.
Did Bob get to feeling any better today. We never go anywhere on NYE anymore and we like it that way.Kenneth isn't a big lover of football so hopefully we can find something else to do.He's sleeping right now and I'm watching the Cowboys beat up on the Lions.Yea!I'd like to find some kind of game we can play or something rather than just sitting around watching TV.I'm glad you and Suze had a good visit and I agree. It was so nice in getting back to a routine again eating and exercise wise.I didn't get in my 10,000 steps but that's okay b/c I gave myself a pass b/c of my back. What is chicken foot?
If I had a housekeeper she would just have to clean around the mess.I did clean up before our friends came over yesterday. It does feel really good to be able to cook and clean again.I'm just not a fanatic about cleaning although I think I can keep it pretty clean again.Scooter has toys in the way usually but that's not a big problem.I did tell Kenneth after he finished the tamales I got for him to eat over Christmas and I finish the ham I've been eating I want to start cooking dinner again b/c I want to get some variety with our dinners.I don't mind having the same thing 2-3 days but I would like to change the meat more often than once a week.So if anyone has any good chicken(for me)or good main dish recipes pls let me know.I think I've decided to make us a taco salad for NYE but we will run out of meat before then.So I need to think of something to buy for meat tomorrow or Wednesday.

Suze,I'm glad you enjoyed your time with Celeste and Bob.You might just try cutting back on carbs the 1st week instead of cutting them out and I find water helps me to not eat as many carbs so I drink water between meals and it fills me up more.Whatever you decide on I'm sure you will do well on it.I think you are leaving Wed?Have fun with family and friends when you visit. How long will you get to stay?At least it will be cooler than it is here right now.Do you go back to work next Monday?
I told Kenneth tonight I didn't want even 3 bites of another peanut blossom cookie or a chicken chipotle until next yr.I normally have a small bite of his nutty bar at lunch or dinner or maybe both and today I told him I didn't even want that.It seems like a bite now and then wouldn't hurt but it does eventually show up on the scale. There's a sign on the Curves scale that says the scale is your friend. Not so much the last few days for sure. Will you board Lu while you are gone? It's a shame they don't live closer or you could take her with you.
Good night all and sleep well!!!

It's going to be a really long day. I woke up about 2:30 which is nothing new, but this time I wasn't able to go back to sleep.
I really was good eating wise over Christmas. The only sweet thing or carb that I ate was cake that my dgd had baked from scratch. My dd thinks that I don't eat enough protein.

Louise,Do you like eggs? That is one source of protein.I eat meat of some kind(chicken, beef, pork)at at every meal except breakfast.Plus my yogurt has more protein so I know I'm getting enough protein but you prob can't eat Greek yogurt b/c of the carbs.I see we were both on FB early this morning.Scooter woke me up once jumping on me wanting to play and the cat woke me up twice b/c she was hungry.I never went back to sleep either.Maybe you can get a nap in today.

Good morning,
Set my alarm so I can be up and dressed ready to go get the boy from high school practice. Autumn had a fever of 101.7 last night. We shall see how she does when she wakes. All symptoms of cedar or strep....going to let her sleep and then will see if we're heading to the dr. So, depending on how she's feeling will determine what I get done today.
Y'all have a great Tuesday! BBL
