A new month. I'm feeling more positive with some of the primary results and recent polling.

Re: bbbearsmom,'s post in another thread about a possible rail strike - also doesn't help Dem's chances in mid-terms. GOPers will blame Biden of course.

There is an article in the Washington Post that some GOP candidates for this coming election won't say if they'll accept the results of the election if they lose. The article pointed out that the Democrats answered that they would accept the results.

Ken Burns latest The U.S. and the Holocaust is scarily relevant. A great history lesson. I knew much of it but there are always something new. It says Hitler's "living space" (expanding Germany into Russian) was linked in his mind to America's expansion into the continent, the genocide of the Jews compares to Native Americans here, and the Nazis studied our Jim Crow laws when they started discriminating against their Jewish population.
Also the fear of immigrants goes way, way back. News flash, everyone here bar the indigenous population is an immigrant. The Johnson-Reed Act of 1924 instituted a quota of 3% of the U.S. population from each country as of the 1910 census. However there was no quota for immigrants from the Western Hemisphere. Asians were completely excluded.
I've only seen and hour and a half of the first episode, but this seems to explain why so few Jews fleeing Germany and other Nazi controlled countries were able to come to the U.S. The U.S. did take in more than any other country.
Highly recommend watching this.
