Good morning fellow crafters! I hope you all have a good day.
Before we went to the doctor's office I made a hat brim but as you know, I forgot to take it in. After we got back home I finished the 2nd knot bag then finished the hat. I want to get another started so that I have it ready for appointments.
It's a nasty looking day today. Yesterday's weather was perfect. Today is overcast and so far, at nearly noon, it's only 56 degrees.

Woah!!!! Where is everyone? Ruth, glad you finished the second knot bag… and a hat brim, Agree its a great idea to have it ready for appointments.. Always nice to be prepared. Do you have rain, along with a much cooler temperature? 56 can feel awfully damp if it is raining.
My neighbor came over last night (I built a fire for us to chat in front of) She did not leave way late, but surely later than I would have stayed up. Then I went into work this am, so I am a bit tired. She popped over again today (she has some similar issues with her house as I have with mine, so she wanted to see how I have handled it). And she stayed for an hour or so. So I have gotten nothing done today. I know she is just starting to open up and chat about losing her husband, so I am trying hard to be a good friend and listener.
This am I did start looking at my amish doll and while she is not perfect, I am going to make some minor adjustments and move on to make her apron and bonnet. The apron and bonnet will cover up some of the problems with her, and being that I made her without a pattern or directions she is going to turn out ok. Tomorrow is another day…..
Hope everyone got some crafting time in. G

Ginny, I think it's great that you're able to create a doll with no pattern. And, yes, any little mistake on her body will be covered with clothing so no need to be concerned about that.
Your neighbor sounds like a very lonely woman. I Hope she doesn't become too overbearing. It's great that you're able to talk with her but sometimes it gets old having someone come over to your home very often. And, of course, we don't want to be rude but there is only so much time in a day and you have a lot of things to do.
I'm still working on my 3rd knot bag. I'm not following a pattern for this one just alternating hdc and sl stitch. I just have to rip out about 7 or 8 rows because of a mistake way back. I also keep letting my mind wander and end up making a sc instead of the sl stich so I've also had parts of rows I had to do over.
CJ, I hope you're having a good day.
Phyl, and Sue, I Hope you are both doing well also

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad you're making progress on the Amish doll, hope you can get to the bonnet and apron soon. Ruth - Hope you can finish your knot bag soon. Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. We've had some nice weather here, around 80 and clear, but it looks like hot weather coming next week I finished making the latest Moda Blockheads block and the Hometown Charms block this morning. I made a bad choice on the fabric for the Moda block though, so I'm thinking about pulling it from the ones I'm using in my quilt top instead of remaking it. This quilt along originally said there would be 36 regular blocks and 8 bonus blocks, but as of today there have been 10 bonus blocks! I don't mind them putting out new patterns, but it makes it difficult to plan a quilt top when you don't know how many blocks there really will be. I think I'm going to stick at 16 blocks in my quilt top and whatever extras I have - probably 3 blocks - I'll make into a table runner. I'm hoping to work on the jelly roll quilt(s) tomorrow, since it's National Sew a Jelly Roll Day Hope you all have a great weekend and get to do some crafting. Take care

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all having a great weekend I was able to finish making all the block for one of my jelly roll quilts - 80 blocks and I've figured out my layout of 8 blocks across and 10 rows down. I hope to sew the rows and top together tomorrow. I also decided to make something easier with the other jelly roll I cut and pieced into strips (the floral one). I'm just going to sew them into several long strips and put sashing between them. I just don't have the energy to try to figure out a layout with all of them in a big center area. Hopefully I can get this top done this coming week. Hope you've all had some good weather today and that you were able to do some crafting. Take care

Good everning, Sorry its taken me so long to get here, its been a good day but a long one.
CJ- absolutely nothing wrong with doing something easier with the second jelly roll- as long as you are happy with the quilt top you are making! Hope you can get that quilt with 80 blocks all together tomorrow, now that you have figured out the layout. I know the layout can truly be a head scratcher. Going back to your previous post, that has to be a headache if they have given you a certain number of blocks and then in execution it is another number. But, Ruth has had trouble with directions online before, and I have to think that when designers crank out as many different quilts or patterns as they are , that not all the directions are checked as carefully as they could be. Sorry you are not content with the moda block and your fabric selection. Hope that changing to another fabric is more pleasing to you.
Ruth, were you able to make good progress on the 3rd knot bag? And that is SO frustrating on the issue with the end of a row, substituting a SC instead of a slip stitch. I have made that mistake a lot myself, and its easy to do. All too easy.
Walked with a friend this am…and got most of my housework done. The amish doll is done, sort of. As I made her without a pattern- both the doll and the costume, she is less than perfect, but honestly she looks pretty good if you are not looking for faults. Absolutely accomplishes what I wanted and I am happy with her size. Not sure what I will work on tomorrow, perhaps get back to the QAYG quilt. I would like to move on to the next phase of that quilt.
My neighbor, who stopped by 2 days in a row, is a very private person and struggles with letting others into her life. She has been attending griefshare at my church and they told her it would be good for her to open up to others. (Its strictly coincidental that I made contact with her, not knowing that she had lost her husband). I sincerely doubt that she wil become overbearing. I texted her today - and have not heard back from her.
Hope to hear from Phyl and Sue- and Ruth, hope you had a great day.

CJ, thanks for reposting the link for the mystery quilt stitch along. I keep wondering if I should take that on…..I do have Christmas fabrics here and could make that mug rug - cute pattern.
Phyl- looking forward to hearing about the quilt show.
I found another quilt show to attend….its next weekend. Think Jane and I are going.

Hello Everyone Ginny - You should at least try to the mug block pattern with some of your Christmas fabric, it goes together really quickly I'm glad you have a quilt show to go to soon. Another nice sunny day here, but a bit warmer like the next few days are supposed to be. I hope that's the end of it so I can put away the air conditioners and fans. I finished making one of my jelly roll quilts that I'm working on. This one is the Boxed Squares quilt, and I'm pretty happy with how the top turned out. This was a pretty fabric line, I sure wish I had used it right after I bought it so I could have bought some of the coordinating fabric, live and learn I figured out how I'm going to layout the blocks for the other jelly roll quilt too and hope to get them sewn together soon. Here are a few pictures including my Moda Blockheads block for the week, which I really wish I hadn't chose yellow fabric for the small inner border - it messed up the pattern. And here is the 2nd block for Hometown Charms - it was a log cabin block and I'm showing it along with my house block. I"m still not completely happy with how my fabrics are going on this quilt along, I hope the next few blocks make me want to continue. Hope you all have a good day and get to do some crafting

Hey CJ- the blocks are all so pretty- but then I am a big fan of the color yellow. Love house quilts….you know that is on my bucket list, and the blockheads block is so cheery. Nice job on the boxed squares quilt!!! I know with such a diverse grouping of fabric that it was challenging getting the lights and darks evenly distributed. You did a great job- gee that quilt would look so nice in my family room! I too have had that happen with wanting coordinating fabrics for a quilt, and actually just this past week, lost out on the one fabric from my PMQ that I would have special ordered for the back. I looked at the fabric walked away front the computer to come back 2 hours later and it was sold out. It was the only fabric to sell out! But that is ok, a plain black fabric, which I can get at Joanns would work just fine also. And be less pricey- for a quilt top that I am not so sure I will adore anyway.
Its warmer here also, and I think the week will be a bit warmer than last week, until next weekend when we are supposedly to see a 20 degree temperature drop. That will be nice!
Before I came here I did download the PDF for the mug rug, and will give that a try- mid week I nave some down time and will try to make that then.

Did not realize that I actually finished with a full sentence….so I thought I would stop in to be sure that I did. DS came up to chat, and I knew if I did not get the reply in that it might be lost.
I did cut more batting for the QAYG- got the backing pieces and strips cut already, and the thread color has been changed on the machine. I am ready to go start work on that again, and am anxious to make some headway on that quilt.
Monday is right around the corner. Have a good night all Ginny

Ruth - I hope you and your DH are feeling better soon Ginny - Hope you can get some more done on your QAYG quilt When I posted a picture of the Boxes quilt on Facebook someone pointed out to me the blocks that look like an "H". I had thought that was just the way the fabric made them look, but when I checked it was because I pieced them wrong I couldn't stand the error, so I ripped those 4 blocks out and fixed them and sewed the top back together. Here's the fixed quilt top, it looks so much better without the "H" blocks:
