Went to bed early last night and did not sleep great but got just under 6 hours of sleep, which is pretty good for me.
Ruth, I am glad that DH’s PT went so well, and I hope that it accomplishes the goal to keep Dh more comfortable. That is quite some story about Walmart, but does not totally surprise me. I gave up on the attended checkout lines and now try to use self check unless I anticipate a problem. Unfortunately that is a problem with Walmart, a lack of help. It must have been so frustrating.
CJ are you supposed to get much rain from Ian? I hope not!! For all the work put into the blockhead block, so you think you will quilt this quilt? guess the whole routine of waiting each week for a new pattern can be both tedious and stimulating. Congrats on finishing it! Glad to hear that you are so pleased with how bright and colorful it is. Quilts are supposed to make us smile, I think.
Hope to get a walk in in a bit.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today It's cloudy and cool here, looks like the rain will be coming later today - but hopefully not heavy and not windy. Ruth - I'm glad your DH's appointment went well. Hope you are able to get some crocheting done today. It seems like all the stores are pushing us to use self-checkout. I do like them, but now I'm finding that they mostly want you to use credit or debit and I like using cash. I don't like the chance that someone could get my card information using it at these checkouts. Ginny - Hope you get better sleep tonight I didn't get much sleep last night either. Hope you enjoyed your walk. I don't plan to quilt any of my lap size or larger quilt tops. I don't mind doing the smaller ones since I can straight line quilt them, but I have no desire to do any machine quilting. So most of them will stay tops Phyl and Sue - Hope you are well. I finished the sailboat quilt block this morning - this is a quick easy block pattern that'd I'd recommend if you want to make a sailboat quilt I'd like to make some blocks using nautical fabrics someday. I'm hoping to get some more things done on the Hometown Charms quilt today or tomorrow, since next week, we'll be ready to put the center of the quilt together. I'm attaching a picture of my Moda Blockheads quilt top from the second half. I really like the bright colors. I have three blocks left that I decided I will make into a tablerunner. This is not good - I found out that there is a new quilt along starting next month It's called Sewcialites 2, there was another one last year. I'm trying to resist, but I do like the layout and I can make 6 inch blocks (there are options for 3 inch, 6 inch or 9 inch blocks). I'd really rather make the 9 inch blocks, but then the quilt ends up 99x99 inches! I can't imagine making a quilt this big. I guess I'll see if I participate. Take care everyone and have a good weekend!

we use to take the kids to the parades and rides. sometimes go to the beer tent with friends. have not done that in many years. Don and I DON'T GO TO THE PARADES ,IT IS JUST TO HARD FOR ME TO SIT IN A LAWN CHAIR FOR A FEW HOURS.
CAN WATCH THE PARADE ON TV,BORING.
CJ I was thinking about the sewcialites not sure I WANT tO COMMIT MYSELF,WITH ALL THE PROJECTS I
have now that need to get done. phyl

OOPs looks like I didn't post here after all.
CJ, you're right about the colors...they are bright and beautiful. Well if the next quilt along sounds like something you would want to do you should definitely go ahead. you'll be lost without a block coming out each week although I think you have some others or did all the long term ones end?
Ginny, I hope you got in that walk you hoped for. I also hope you have a good and restful weekend. Personally, I can't believe it's Friday again already.
Phyl, I don't know of any Oktoberfest celebrations here but that may be because I don't care for those things and don't keep up with the events happening here but if you participat4e I hope you have a good time.
I'm working on another bag that I thought wouold be easier and simpler but most of all faster. The other is going to take time and I want to have all my Christmas projects done at least by the end of October and hopefully before so I just picked a bag to make to have six bags ready. If I have time I might go back to that one and finish it and maybe change some out.
Meant to mention that the bag I set aside is made with quintuple treble stitches. You yarn over the hook five times. It's interesting. They aren't in every row just every 5th row. It's much like a mosiac technique and makes squares.

Ruth- I have never heard of a quintuple treble stitch crochet pattern/stitch. Sounds so neat, with all those loops over the hook is it hard to make? It sure sounds interesting and I hope is making a pretty bag. Are you mailing these bags or are they local gifts?
Phyl- sounds like your town does quite a big celebration for Oktoberfest. No I do not like sitting for long waiting for parades either. Do not blame you for not going.
CJ- what a bright and colorful and happy quilt!! It turned out so lovely. And I completely agree with Ruth, if making the sewcialtes quilt seems interesting to you, then give it a try. Think its neat that each block is by a different designer, which will make it an interesting project.
My oven needs to be replaced, so I went to Lowes today to take care of that, (the oven timer /control panel no longer works and I was once told many years ago that if that failed the oven would not be worth repairing because its an expensive part) Not exactly a fund day, but not a bad day either G

Phyl, thank you for clarifying that.
Ginny, well sorry about your oven. I hope the one you bought to replace the broken one is a good one and lasts. Most appliances that you can buy nowdays don't have a very long life expectancy. My old freezer lasted over 30 years. My dryer is over 40 years old and still going strong. Realistically I don't imagine it will last much longer although it's still working fine.I dread the thought of having to get a new one. Maybe I'll just use my clothes line like I do when out of state. It's kinda hard in the winter but there are options.
The only other extended front post stitch I've done was the quadruple one. It's not hard but it's something most people would think would be hard until they try it. A lot of people have trouble with post stitches of any king but I think that's mostly because they're afraid of them. I think the young woman that made the design and did the video make the name up herself because it's actually just a quntuple post stitch not a quintuple treble as she said. The bags I'm doing right now are for the family here so no mailing of them but I do need to get the blankets and the snake, dino, and shark packed and get them mailed. I do want to make a couple more things to put in with them though.I have a few other things to make for Christmas for those that live here like the guys and the great grands then I can get to some things I want to make just because and/or just for me.

Hello Everyone Phyl - It's too bad you can't go to the parade anymore. It must be interesting with so many people coming into town, hope you enjoy the atmosphere of that. Ginny - Sorry to hear about your oven, but I'm glad you were able to pick a new one out. Is it in stock and can be delivered soon? I know for awhile that it was taking time to buy many appliances. Ruth - Hope you are enjoying working on your latest project, it's nice that you have different things to work on so it's not the same all the time. I also hope you can get to make some things just for you It was damp and cool here today after rain last night. I think we're supposed to get rain tomorrow too. It's pretty cold inside the house so I'm debating trying to turn on the furnace tomorrow. I sure hope I don't have problems with it this year like I did last year I finished some work on the Hometown Charms quilt this morning and hope to do a bit more tomorrow so I'm ready for the next block on Wednesday. This will finish up the center of the quilt - the pattern has three parts to it (top, middle and bottom). So I want to have the whole middle portion together and ready for the next section. I also have a few small projects just laying around that I would like to get finished, or put away. I'm still thinking about the Sewcialites quilt along, I'm not sure if I want to do it or not. Take care everyone!

CJ- damp and cool describes the weather I have here…Were you ever able to find resolution for your heater issues last spring?
Ruth, thanks for the explanation of the stitch, guess I will have to go to youtube and check out how it looks. You explained it well.
Got GDS here for a few hours. See you in the morning. G

It's actually cool here too today and yesterday was even cooler. We got some rain yesterday too so it does feel somewhat damp here also which is unusual for here. All this coming week will be only in low 60's
CJ I do hope that your furnace works as it should this year. It sounds like you're really catching up on some small projects you've had in mind and have the materials needed for also. Trouble with those of us that craft is that we never get our stash used up because as soon as we finish one thing we have another in mind so buy the materials for that one. After making all the bags I've come to the conclusion that I need better cotton yarn so, since this is Hobby Lobby's week for 30% off and free shipping I may have to order some of the I've love this cotton. Anyway, Have a good evening thinking about your fabrics and deciding about the next long range project.
See you all tomorrow, Ginny, have fun with that baby.
