Hey, Ruth, I actually took a picture of the tests ordered for Dd- the only one I understood without further comment was a vitamin D level, which I know they are finding many are deficient in. Dd takes vitamins, so I sincerely believe that is not a problem. I will check out what the other text panels he asked for are, got a good idea what they are looking for- from what she has told me they do not think this is anything serious. Out of respect for Dd I will not post any specifics here, not that I think she would be looking. Hope that you have a good outing while you pick up your prescription, got a feeling Dh will join you for the trip.
Hope Phyl is doing well.
Today was a lazy day for me. I did get some housework done- not much. I called DSIL when I went for my walk, we usually chat every few weeks. My crafting for today was to take out the kit (for both a pin cushion and a Christmas tree ornament) that I bought while in NC. I have read through the directions and after doing so realized that I really wanted another color of felted wool for each. I will use what I bought in NC but decided to also pick up more felted wool, which will match the patterns better. So I just spent some time looking for what I wanted and ordered that. These both appear to be simple projects, and will make easy Christmas gifts. I know it seems early but I need to get a head start. Think I am going to read awhile and then work on the leaves outside a bit. Gy

Ginny, I was really surprised when I, the dh had a vit d level done and we both were seriously under the normal levels and we live in a sunny climate. The vitamin your dd takes may have enough vit d but maybe not. It's great that you were able to order the felted wool you want to make your Christmas projects
Yes dh is going with me and here he is so I'll see you later

Phyl, glad you are doing ok!!! Good to see you here and hope you can stop in soon.
Ruth, when my doctor had my vitamin D levels checked (a year or so ago) I was surprised too. But some meds I think either block absorption of D or they just do not get enough. I get D in my multivitamin and the separate calcium I take. Hope your trip out yesterday went well and that the pharmacy issue is happily resolved.
Busy morning today and then I have to figure out what I want to do with my afternoon. I was working on the leaves outside when Dd called to let me know that there were no surprises in her blood work. She is going to ramp up her vitamins (her Dr suggested that). I hope she is feeling better soon, she works hard and does not get much rest.
CJ- looking forward to hearing about your projects.
Sue, hope you are more comfortable after the ablation.

Well, as predicted, it is snowing. I think we got a little more accumulation that they mentioned and it's still snowing. I'm glad I didn't procrastinate and did go out to get my prescription and some grocery items. I actually ended up having to wait over 2 hours. The pharmacy cashier looked up my info and said that the prescription was still at the pharmacy in that other town it was sent to and it would be 2 hours before it was ready after he called them After walking around the store the 2 hours it still took another half hour or so but I didn't want to have to go back.So obviously the woman at the doctor's office did not take care of the prescription order like she claimed she did. Dh did go with me but was in a lot of pain so I sent him to wait in the car.He likes to get out though. The strange thing is the bottlle of eye drops. It came in a normal size box but it is the smallest bottle you could ever imagine. I found out it contains 2 mililiters and there are15 drops in a ml so 30 drops in the bottle which is, of course, just enough for 30 days....IF you don't miss your eye one evening in which case you've lost a day's worth of med.
I didn't get much crocheting done yesterday.Mostly I spent a bit of time looking at my collection of hat patterns to decide which ones to do for my November quota.

Oh and I forgot to mention that yesterday the temp got up close to 70. Today's high was to be 33 or so but it's still only 23.No matter that I've lived here for 32 years I'm still amazed at these drastic changes

Ruth, me too!! I have always been amazed at how crazy your weather can be. That is a n awful story about the wait for your eye medication and the tiny quantity of it. How long do you have to take that and when do you return for follow up?

Hello Everyone Ginny - I'm glad your DD received a good report and hope the vitamins will help her. I'm glad you have a few small projects to work on. Ruth - Sorry to hear you had to wait so long to get your prescription, sounds like a mess. But I hope that the eye drops help with the pressure in your eyes. Your weather swings sound crazy, hope you don't get too much snow. Phyl - Glad you are doing O.K. Sue - Hope your legs are feeling better. I went out yesterday morning to do some shopping and errands. I had to get the emissions test done on my car, it's required every 2 years. I really think they should have a better system for people being exempt that drive less than a certain number of miles. Since I only go out once a week, and any longer trips maybe only a few times a year, I'm barely putting any miles on my car. They do have exemptions once you reach a certain age. Today I finished making the next block for the Hometown Charms quilt along and that finished the top row, so I joined the block to the others. There are 3 sections to this quilt - top row, middle section and bottom row. I have the middle section already done, so I joined the top section to it. There are just 3 more blocks left to finish the bottom row. I'm really happy with how my fabrics are coming together on this quilt now and I've liked the block patterns too. I also worked some more on the Comet quilt, which is in the book "Simply Half Yards" and I'm happy with how those are coming along. I had thought about doing less than the 20 blocks required for the quilt, but now I think I will go ahead and make all 20 blocks and do the full size of the quilt pattern. With my 5 different fabrics, I just need 4 blocks of each one and I'm just about finished with one block of each color, so just 15 more blocks to go Take care

In my state the exemption on emissions is only for cars over a certain age. Sorry it sounds like a pain in the neck for you. What other colors are you going to use for the comet quilt?

Ginny - We have exemptions for older cars and for senior citizens over 70.
If you look at the picture on Page 1 it shows the 5 colored fabrics I'm using to make the blocks with the white.

Hey CJ- me being a bear of little brain…I just figured out what you meant. Thanks for the heads up on the colors for the comet quilt, which I was unable to figure out! (Ha ha ha). My emissions exemption is for cars older than 25 years, which I have one. Other than that, do you have to have your car inspected every year? I ask because it sounds like that is not the case. I grew up in NJ and now live in NY- both states have mandatory car inspections, so I guess its just something I am really used to.
A nice story. After having some crazy heat issues last winter (while I was in Florida a part of my heater failed requiring emergency service). Then I had an issue with my AC at the beginning of summer. I now realize that having both systems checked out before each is needed is a good idea. I had my heater checked out a month ago (they replaced a OC monitor) and figured out I was set for the winter. Now the past 2 weeks, there is air in my hot water heat lines, resulting in a sort of obnoxious gurgling when heat is called for. I emailed my plumber (a neighbor) and asked for a service call. The plumber is here….they are not charging me for this visit and have already added to my account that next year, when I have my annual service done, that they will automatically bleed the lines of air. Good customer service which I am very very thankful for.
Got a short dentist appointment this afternoon and then rehearsal this evening (or probably better said, practice) for music for Sunday’s church service. Its hard to believe that it is 70 degrees here (and I am having my heater serviced?). Hope I can get some crochet in today. My felted wool is in the mail already and should be here either tomorrow or Monday.

CJ, I'm glad you're happy with the quilt you're working on. I really like the comet pattern. I've never seen that before as far as I remember but it's a really nice one
Ginny, we have no inspections here at all yet.I hated those yearly ones in NY because each year they seemed to scam me. Brand new vehicle and they claimed brake pads needed grinding and every year it seemed that they would say the windshield wipers needed replacing. All at a high cost because you had to get them right there or you'd have to go back. Finally dear grandfather in law told us about a friend of his that we could take it too.It is truly a blessing to have someone you trust for all the maintenance issues on both your vehicles and house. I'm happy that your plumber is thorough and honest.
Weather here is a little better. HIgher temp and no snow is falling I did get one hat done last night that I had started the evening before and another started and completed and a third one started.

Good morning, Yes Ruth, car inspections can be a problem. I know of one local auto repair shop who used to give out coupons with a Welcome wagon gift when you first moved up here. (Wonder if welcome wagon even still exists). Well we had just bought this house and I thought that a free inspection was a good idea. Of course they found something wrong with the car, it was a minor repair but I realized what had happened. Over the years I have gotten pretty good at installing my own wiper blades when new ones are needed. As a matter of fact, I have heard that Auto Zone will install the blades for you when you buy the blades there.
My dad liked to do a lot of his own car repairs. Sometimes that meant he short circuited systems, like catalytic converters, because he knew they would impact gas mileage. (Of course this was before the strict emissions tests we go through now). But sometimes his cars were very operable, but might not meet the strict requirements of a NJ car inspection (back then inspections were done at state run inspection stations, notorious for long lines and irritable employees). My dad used to send me to put a car through inspection for him (I was in my late teens at the time), instructing me to smile a lot at the inspector, with the hope that the car would pass. Now I think NJ has gone the same way as NY where gas stations are certified to do inspections.
Supposed to go into the mid 70s today. Got my laundry going, which I will put on the line as soon as its done. And I have to work on the front lawn, the oak tree is finally dropping its leaves and its a mess. Gotta get those leaves cleaned up.
Got an email that the PMQ shipment is on the way. I have to catch up on that also, but really hope to get two Christmas gifts done first once the felted wool arrives.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are doing well today and having nice weather. We have temperaturs in the high 70s this weekend! I'm fortunate that my state doesn't do the yearly inspections for vehicles, just the every 2 years emissions test. I used to install several things on my car too, but some of the newer cars make it more difficult to do that. I have had one of the auto parts stores put on new windshield wipers once. I'm lazy now and just get those things done when I get my oil changed I was able to get all the fabrics cut for 15 blocks of the Comet quilt and I've started making the components - hourglass blocks and 16 patch blocks. I'm not sure I'm going to have enough of the white fabric to make all 20 blocks, so if I don't then I'll just make 16 blocks and lay them out 4 across and 4 down. I finished all the 16 patch blocks today and I'll start working on the hourglass blocks next - I need to make 40 of them. This pattern has you make them by cutting the square fabric into 4 parts (diagonally both ways) rather than using two half square triangles to make the block. I'm not really sure which one is better/quicker but it is nice not to have to make all those half square triangles. Hope you all get to do some crafting this weekend too. Take care!

Typical Saturday here and a nice day. Dd came over mid morning today with DGS, much a funny little fellow he is. He tried to help me clean leaves from the front yard, one hand would get the leaves in the leaf bag and the other would fling leaves behind him. He did it multiple times , so obviously thought he was helping. We went for a nice walk - a pleasant time together.
CJ, I am glad you made such good progress on the comet quilt. That will be so pretty when done! I wonder if you can find a white fabric similar enough to the fabric you are starting to use perhaps you can alternate which white fabric goes in which block.I am sure you will figure something out. Remember that antique quilt show I just attended? There was one red and green quilt, red stars on a green background. Well the quilt is about 150 years old so we have no idea what the intent of the quilter was, but it seemed to be 8 columns wide and about 10 rows long. Well the red stars in row 3 were made with a slightly different color red, and one of the stars (made with HST’s as points) had 7 points made with the “new” red, one made with the old red. Just a unique way to handle her situation and the quilt was stunning. And yes, making all those HSTs is a chore, glad this way is working out for you.
My felted wool arrived today, and so did my last installment of the PMQ- complete with the final assembly. I might start cutting the felt, working on the Christmas ornament, which will be easier for me to make and get me used to working with felted wool.
