How did we get here? Thanksgiving is a week away…
Sue, yup winter is here. Have you had much snow?
Ruth, glad you mentioned to the doctor about your raynauds - guess they are not disagreeing with the diagnosis based upon what they prescribed. I pray that you can stay comfortable through the winter with it and that those fingerless gloves work well to help you stay able to do what you want without pain or numbness. Think you are right, sounds like a more expensive store is offering the lower priced hams and turkeys. Hope you can get what you want, including yams. Here one store offers a 5 pound box of yams this week, which I will pick up when I get to that store.
CJ- did you get started on those flying geese? Think winter has set in for you and me (of course for Ruth and Sue they are further north and its colder there. Phyl probably got the snow I had heard about a few days ago).
Off for an interesting morning…its cold here. I did crochet a little bit last night and also tried out different DMC colors on my ornament. I still have to change the eye color and number of strands, which I am increasing to 3 because it looks more rustic.

Ginny, it's great that you were able to experiment with the DMC and found the combination that will give you the rustic look you were looking for. An interesting morning? Well that sounds like it will be a busy one.
Actually I looked up the info last year and back in February I told her about the nifedipine but told her that since winter was nearly over that I didn't need it right then.(I was going to Indiana where it was warmer) That's when she told me she was planning on consulting with another doctor and showing that doctor the pictures of my hands and told me to remind her in the fall to prescribe it. Well when we went back in Sept I did tell her and she prescribed and that was one of the meds I had a very hard time getting. I still haven't received the other.I have to call them today. She never did tell me if she remembered to talk to that other doctor or what he or she said.
Today I have one of the painful and very itchy bumps right on the tip of my index finger which, as you can imagine, is not a good place to have one. Well I'll live and am just thankful I don't have anything more serious.
My sister who has glaucoma had to have surgery this past Wed to have a valve put in her left eye. She had one put in her right eye a couple years ago. Since this recent surgery she is still unable to see with the operated eye so can hardly see at all without having two eyes to work together. She had high pressure and her doctor thought this valve wouold help.
We'll be shopping soon so see you all later.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Sue - Sorry to hear it's so cold there, hope it's warm in your house Ginny - I'm glad you are getting to work on your ornaments Ruth - Hope your finger is feeling better today Phyl - Hope you are feeling better Thanks everyone for the nice comments on my Comet quilt, I appreciate them. I went out yesterday morning to get groceries and run some errands, so I didn't get any quilting done. This morning I got all the flying geese units made, and just need to trim them. So I hope to get that done over the next few days. The next block pattern for the Hometown Charms quilt along comes out tomorrow, so I'll be working on that this week too. It's cold here, just in the 40s and we're getting rain today, but I think the rest of the week is dry but still cold. Take care and have a good day!

Good evening, forgive me I’m going to be really lazy and voice text to get this post written. Ruth, I pray that your finger is healing and that the painful bump is going away. That must be so aggravating and frustrating for you especially with all the crocheting that you so love to do and are so good at. Would you mind providing me with your sister‘s first name? I can add her to my prayer list and hope that her eye procedure goes well and that she heals well from it.
CJ I’m glad you got some errands run , And it sounds like that you are well set up with flying geese for now. I’m sure you’re looking forward to getting your new block tomorrow when it comes out. Like you I’ve got cold rainy weather too. I’m sure that’s why you got your errands in yesterday so that you could just stay home today and stay warm and dry.
I was at my daughters today babysitting and she keeps your house a little bit cool, so I’m a little tired and a little chilled at the moment. I’ve got a heating pad under my back which is a little bit achy and just laying on the heating pad and having a nice Afghan over me is helping me to feel really good. Last night I went to Bible study and got a look at my girlfriends kitten, the one who I want to make an ornament for. I’m going to have to put some white on the chest of the ornament because her kitten has a lot of white on his chest and on his face too. But he’s mostly a black cat. From what I just read I can substitute and white felt and I’m gonna have to play with that. Can’t say that I have the energy to do that this evening so I’m gonna lay here and be very lazy tonight.

Ds made it home fine last night, despite the light snow and having to work a few extra hours. Think we got about an inch of snow, but now its well above freezing, and should melt. I did get to work on the afghan last night a nice relaxing project on a night when I was very tired. See ya later!

Ginny,I'm thankful that your ds has once again returned home safely and this time in spite of snow. That's another thing I dislike about winter is the possibility that family members might have a hard time driving in the snow or that others in the road are not careful and cause accidents for our loved ones. Yes for the most part crocheting is very relaxing.
Yesterday much of my time was taken up helping dh to winterize the house. I did get in some crochet time too of course. I decided to make a hat I saw online and then found that it was one in which you have to turn every row despite it being done in the round. I'm not good at that at all and mess them up most of the time.
I was making scalloped potatoes with cabbage in it when dh came upstairs asking me what time we had to be at the doctor's office. He thought the app't was for today. It's not though, it's tomorrow. I wouldn't have been making things that needed to be in the oven if we had to go out.No, the app't is on the coldest day of the week with some snow predicted so hopefully it's just a little snow.

Hello Everyone - Hope you are all doing well today Ruth - Hope you got everything winterized in your house. I'm sorry you and your DH will have to go out tomorrow in the cold weather, hope it isn't too bad. Ginny - I'm glad your DS made it home safely and that you had some time to work on your afghan. I saw a free embroidery pattern today that I thought you might like, since I know you do some embroidery. Here's a link to the website (just scroll down and look for the pink box that says "Download the Mystery Autumn Stitch Along Week 4 pattern here": www.daysfilledwithjoy.com/2022/11/12/mystery-autumn-stitchalong-week-4/It's sunny here today and temperatures in the high 40s, so a bit warmer. I finished trimming my flying geese units this morning and also made the next block for the Hometown Charms quilt along: www.ilovetomakequilts.com/2022/11/hometown-charms-block-11-qa-from-you-background-im-using-for-my-jolly-box.htmlOnly one more block to go. I already have the bottom row sewn together so I just need to add this last block. I also have my inner and outer border strips made, so I'll be ready to sew those on too. I'm happy I've been able to use the fabrics I did in this quilt, it looks a bit Christmas-y which I like. Take care everyone and I hope you get to do some crafting today

CJ,that's a very pretty block and it looks like it would be pretty easy to do. I think that will make a great addition to your quilt top.
CJ,also, thank you for the wishes for it not to be too cold tomorrow but problem solved...app't was cancelled due to the doctor being ill. Rescheduled app't is not until Dec 22nd which hopefully won't be too snowy. They have a lot of doctors at this ortho group but only this one back and neck doctor. Did you get all your shopping done the other day when you went out so that you don't have to shop next week when tons of people will be crowding the stores. The only thing about tomorrow that I somewhat regret is that I'll miss getting the items that are on sale at that store over there on the other side of town.We were planning on stopping there after the doctor visit Nothing was essential though so it's ok.
So the rest of today should be pretty relaxing without having to think about going out tomorrow.

Well started this and the post got dropped.
Ruth, I hope that you are able to get the errands done if you want to get to the store across town. December 22 is a long way away, and the weather can be shaky there for any of us…scalloped potatoes are wonderful, and a great comfort meal. Bet it tasted amazing. Glad you were able to help Dh winterize your home. (Still not totally done here doing that but am well along the way ). Absolutely something that has to be done before winter sets in.
CJ- thanks so much for the pretty embroidery block! Its a simple block to make, from what I saw no tricky stitches and its a simple country look. Bet you are glad having all the flying geese trimmed. this weeks hometown charms block is really cute- not a big fan of the fabrics Pat Sloan used but the block in itself is really cute. Cannot wait to see what you do with that block and the pretty fabrics you select.
Last day of babysitting tomorrow. I brought the little ones back here today and it was a lot of fun having them here.
Gotta go find something good to watch on TV. the news is not worth watching for sure. it was cold here today and we did get some snow overnight, which melted with an early rain. Think I am back to crocheting in a little bit.

Hello Hope your weather is nice. It's sunny here but cold and windy. Ruth - I'm glad you ended up not having to go out in the cold today. Sorry you missed out on the shopping though. I don't need to go in the grocery store again before Thanksgiving, so I'm happy about that. Since I go in early-mid morning it's never really that crowded anyway. I sure don't miss the times I had to shop when I was working and the stores were so crowded. Ginny - Hope the babysitting is going well today and that you found something to watch on TV last night. I watched "The Amazing Race", which is a show I enjoy. I've been watching since the beginning and it started in 2001! I enjoy seeing different parts of the world, more than the actual race it's self I went through my 2.0 by 4.5 inch strips today and put them into sets of 2 strips. I ended up throwing out a bunch of them too, but still have a group of them I'm having trouble throwing out. I'm going to take the pairs and sew them together (it got too hot in my sewing room this morning to do any more than this). After sewing them, I'm thinking about cutting the pair into a 3.5 by 3.5 inch square and sewing all the squares together for a quilt top. I need to test it out first and see before I cut them. I saw a scrappy quilt done like this and it looked good, so we'll see. I think in the future I'll only save fabric that is at least 2.5 inches wide, since I really don't want to make any more projects like I've been doing with these smaller strips. It will just be nice to get rid of more scraps, since these projects aren't that much fun for me, but I don't like to waste the fabric. Hope you all get to do some crafting today. Take care

The closest I got to crafting today was making gingerbread man ornaments (from a kit) with DGS#2. They came out horribly but cute, accounting for the lack of manual dexterity of a 2 1/2 year old.
CJ- glad you have a show like Amazing Race, one that carries you away to a different place and perhaps time. Good for you getting rid of some smaller strips that you doubt you will use. Jane sent me a scrap buster group link for FB- I will have to check that out and see if I want to join. Oh, I think that your plan for a scrappy quilt is great..the one magnificent scrappy quilt I saw several years ago was nothing more than that- 3 1/2 inch squares all put together. Think its critical to break up larger prints but other than that should be random. I hope you take that project on!
Long day….think I am going to try to relax a bit. Ginny

Well it did snow here during the night.I think we got about 4 inches or so. I don't think it was as cold as they said it would be thought.
CJ, I think you did the right things getting rid of tiny pieces of fabric. You have a lot of fabric to work with so no sense keeping those pieces that you dislike working with
Phyl,I think, too, that you did the right thing. If you have no room for it you did a very good deed it allowing it to go to someone that can actually use it.
Ginny, I bet your dgs #2 really enjoyed doing the gingerbread ornaments with you. Times like this are times you will always remember. It's a true blessing.
I have the turkey in the oven.It was thawed enough so I made stuffing, stuffed it and put it in the oven.It probably won't be done until about 9pm but that's fine with us since we're nightowls
